Chapter 111 He was like an abandoned pet

Chapter 111 He was like an abandoned pet

The person who sent the message should be the old acquaintance Xu Hui mentioned.

The main topic was gossiping about the Xu and Yu families, and it also included several photos to support her claims.

Qiao Mei read it through. It was roughly about how Xu Heyu chose to sever ties with her parents because she did not want to obey the new marriage arranged by her family.

But Xu's mother was extremely mean-spirited, saying that Xu Heyu was a piece of her flesh and blood, and that all his achievements were due to her.

If you really want to sever ties, that's fine too. Just return everything they gave him and transfer all the money he has to them.

The next picture shows Xu Heyu, dressed in the uniform of the Federal Academy, standing in the rain in a disheveled state, with many scratches and handprints on her face and neck, looking extremely miserable.

Mr. and Mrs. Xu, on the other hand, were leading a boy who looked to be only four years old, making them appear more like a family of three as they walked in another direction.

The photo was taken one evening.

Xu Heyu stood in the darkness, while her parents and the boy stood in the bright lights. Xu Heyu gave the impression of being an outsider, an abandoned pet because of her disobedience.

Although Qiao Mei felt sympathy for his plight, what did that have to do with him coming to her house for dinner?

Xu Hui's maternal love was overflowing and undisguised. After receiving Qiao Mei's questioning gaze, she answered her question.

"This happened in the last two days. To be honest, his parents are really heartless. They didn't even leave him 100 interstellar coins. He was all alone with his big bags and living in the shelter. His mother thought that we have plenty of empty rooms in our villa, so she could help him out for a few days."

At this point, Hsu Hui emphasized again that today is actually Hsu Ho-Yu's birthday.

“If it weren’t for this, I wouldn’t have been able to make such a decision on my own. Yu is a really good person, but on his birthday, he has to wander outside alone, and there’s no one to celebrate with him.”

Qiao Mei was still troubled: "Then you can lend him some money so he can rent a hotel room. Why does he have to stay at our house?"

If she upsets Ao Cang again, it will be very difficult for her to coax him.

Xu Hui shook her head: "Child, that means something else entirely. He Yu is very concerned about his reputation. Otherwise, do you think he could have trouble finding someone to lend him money for a hotel stay, given his previous connections? He must be too ashamed to do that."

After she finished speaking, Xu Hui received a call on her personal terminal saying that the cake she ordered had arrived.

So he didn't continue talking to Qiao Mei about it, but just told her to prepare a gift and give it to Xu Heyu. After all, they were childhood sweethearts, and it wouldn't be so bad to leave her without even a gift.

"Alright, I understand. You can go now." Qiao Mei rubbed her throbbing temples, looked at the little black dragon coiled around her neck, and said helplessly, "Cang Cang, did you hear that? This really isn't my fault."

Ao Cang, however, was much calmer than she had imagined, and told her that it was okay.

"Didn't you say that I'm much more important than him? In that case, even if he and I are far away and you are right in front of me, I believe you will only focus your attention on me."

But despite saying that, he still secretly tightened the dragon's body wrapped around Qiao Mei's neck.

It seemed that as long as he did that, Qiao Mei would definitely be his.

Seeing that he understood, Qiao Mei breathed a sigh of relief and went back to her bedroom to look for something she could give Xu Heyu as a birthday present.

During this time, to make things easier for her, she simply put Ao Cang back into the Gemstone Nest.

There was a moon outside tonight, and the thin moonlight shone through the window, casting a silvery-white glow on Qiao Mei.

Her waist-length black curly hair became disheveled as she bent over, revealing her slender, fair, and beautiful swan neck.

Ao Cang's gaze shifted from her beautiful features to her neck. He remembered how he used to wrap his body around her every day, and his heart throbbed and he felt a surge of heat in his dragon body.

Suddenly, I really wanted to get closer to this little believer.

"This thing, I think, is something I can give away..." Qiao Mei was completely unaware that Ao Cang had locked onto her gaze. She found a neutral starstone bracelet that she didn't know when she had put in the drawer and that looked like it had never been worn. She muttered to herself.

Then she put the bracelet in a box, making it look presentable. Qiao Mei was about to stand up when she felt a very intense gaze fall on her.

As she looked up, her gaze met Ao Cang's, who hadn't had time to look away.

She noticed that he seemed to be looking at her neck, so she subconsciously looked down. Then, she noticed that a leaf had blown in from outside the window, and she picked it up without thinking much of it.

"Alright, let's go. He should be here soon. I wonder if we should sing him a happy birthday song later."

Ao Cang was picked up by Qiao Mei and wrapped his arms around her beautiful neck, which he had been admiring for so long. He sniffed the faint fragrance emanating from her body and hair.

Upon hearing her sing "Happy Birthday," something flashed through his mind in a daze. He then asked her what song it was, as he didn't seem to have heard of it before.

His reminder made Qiao Mei realize that there was no such thing as a "Happy Birthday" song in interstellar space anymore.

After stiffening for a moment, he touched his nose and tried to fool Ao Cang: "No, I was just saying it casually, hahaha. Okay, let's not talk about this anymore, let's hurry down!"

Ao Cang didn't know whether he believed it or not. He glanced at Qiao Mei and then said nothing more.

When Qiao Mei went downstairs, Xu Heyu had already arrived.

The living room was piled with large and small bags of luggage, and he looked very listless.

It did feel like I'd been wandering around for a few days.

She glanced at his bare wrist and realized that his mother had gone so far as to not even leave him a smart bracelet. Her gaze towards him was filled with even more pity.

"Qiao Mei." Upon seeing her, Xu Heyu was still able to give her a gentle smile, seemingly unaffected by the unpleasant events of the past few days.

Of course, this is only what it appears to be; only he knows the truth.

Xu Hui gave Qiao Mei a wink, asking her to help carry Xu Heyu's large and small bags of luggage to the first-floor guest room and put them away. She then asked Qiao Mei to take Xu Heyu to take a shower and change her clothes.

She said she was missing two dishes and needed to cook them again.

Qiao Mei had no objections. After dutifully escorting Xu Heyu into the bathroom, she remembered that he seemed to have forgotten to take any clothes with him when he went in, so she opened his luggage to try and find some for him.

But when the luggage was opened, it only contained some books and medals; there wasn't a single sock, let alone clothes.

Qiao Mei: Oh no, my ex-husband is really suffering!!
