Shang Duojin usually called Shu Qingqing "bad woman," so when she suddenly heard him call her by her full name, she felt a little uncomfortable.
"What's wrong?" Shu Qingqing looked up, and Shang Duojin stuffed the tofu he had picked up into her mouth, leaving her completely bewildered.
"You don't need to think that I'm being so nice to you because you helped me put on an act. Even if we weren't putting on an act, as my friend, I wouldn't treat you unfairly. You deserve it."
After saying that, Shang Duojin felt a strange ambiguity, touched his nose, and continued to explain: "What I mean is, it's not just me, but also Sister Qiao. We're nice to you only because you are you. There's no benefit or help you that we're doing this for. Do you understand?"
Shu Qingqing knew, of course.
But knowing and being told directly are two different things, two different feelings.
She chewed and swallowed the tofu that Shang Duojin had fed her, and inexplicably found that the tofu tasted a little sweet.
She nodded without saying anything, but her eyes were a little red and her nose felt a little sore.
For a moment, she even thought that it would be great if her engagement with Shang Duojin were real.
If it's true, then she will always have what she already has.
Instead of being bothered by nasty people like before, where even living comfortably required a lot of effort.
Seeing that she didn't speak, Shang Duojin was a little worried, so he continued while serving her soup:
"And to be honest, you're not bad either. If you really find a man who likes you, he will definitely cherish you and protect you. Don't think that you won't be cared about if our affair is exposed."
Shu Qingqing didn't mention a word about her vulnerability and sensitivity.
But Shang Duojin seemed to know her inside and out, he could read her mind perfectly well.
After sniffing her sore nose again, she said, "I understand."
"Also, thanks. I didn't expect you to be so good at comforting people. I wonder who will benefit from this in the future."
When the two of them talked about how they would end up with other people, they both felt the same frustration and discomfort.
But no one said anything, and they finished their meal with their own thoughts on the matter.
It wasn't until Saturday, the day Qiao Mei had promised to deliver the jewelry, that their stagnant relationship began to progress again.
After checking on Shu Qingqing's condition and finding that there were no major problems, Qiao Mei took out the jewelry that Yan Qing had given her from her smart bracelet and placed it on the table for Shang Duojin and Shu Qingqing to choose from.
“Cangcang and I each picked out a set of jewelry from various styles. Take a look. If you like our choices more, you can exchange them with us.”
Seeing that she was about to take out the ones she had chosen earlier, Shu Qingqing frowned and stopped her.
"No need. We were just using your and Ao Cang's jewelry anyway, how could we possibly steal it from you? But judging from your expressions, you've already set a wedding date?"
Ao Cang shook his head: "Not yet, but the preliminary timeframe is between the junior and senior years. We will definitely let you know when the time is confirmed."
“Okay, that works too.” Shu Qingqing understood. After casually selecting some jewelry that she thought was nice, she looked at Shang Duojin, who hadn’t made a move, and asked him why he wasn’t choosing anything.
"I don't know much about this stuff, so I don't know how to choose."
He is usually someone who doesn't wear jewelry, at most he would tie white ribbons around his hands. When Shu Qingqing remembered this, she pursed her lips and picked up the jewelry one by one to put on him and let him try it on.
Noticing the difference in atmosphere between them, Qiao Mei silently pulled Ao Cang to his feet and said she was going out to take a look at Shang Duojin's flower garden.
Shu Qingqing was busy choosing jewelry for Shang Duojin and didn't notice anything unusual.
After trying on several bracelets for Shang Duojin, they didn't seem to suit her quite well, so she turned her attention to the rings.
"How about trying these instead? I picked out quite a few rings earlier."
As she spoke, she picked up one of the rings and slipped it onto Shang Duojin's ring finger.
Because the movements were so slow and the two were so close, Shang Duojin could almost clearly smell the fragrance emanating from her body.
The scent was faint, yet more alluring than any flower fragrance he had ever smelled.
The ring size can be adjusted at will. Shu Qingqing's soft fingers grasped Shang Duojin's back and focused on adjusting the size for him. Her focused look made Shang Duojin's heart skip a beat, and he felt the place where she was holding him start to get hot.
"That's about right, Mr. Shang. Take a look..." Shu Qingqing helped him put it on and subconsciously looked up at him.
Upon looking at him, I saw his round eyes staring blankly at me, and met his confusion and unease.
"What's wrong? Why are you suddenly looking at me like that?"
Shang Duojin was also unsure. After pulling away his hand with the ring on it, she looked away and blinked her long eyelashes rapidly.
"Can't I even look anymore? Alright, no need to choose anymore, this ring will do. Judging from how skillfully you put the ring on my finger, you must have put it on many other guys before, right?"
Otherwise, what normal girl would be so casual as to hold a guy's hand and put a ring on his finger?
Shu Qingqing felt that Shang Duojin's tone was a bit off when he said these things, but she didn't think much of it.
Watching him purse his lips as he took off the ring, she told him that he was the first person she had ever personally put a ring on her finger.
"Wearing a ring doesn't require any skill or proficiency. I wear rings all the time myself, so of course I can wear them for others."
Shang Duojin paused for a moment, his hand that was taking off the ring stopped, and he looked up at the girl who had furrowed her brows.
"Am I really the first person you've ever put a ring on your finger?"
Shu Qingqing nodded: "Yes, why would I need to lie to you about this?"
"No, I just wanted to ask."
The young man carefully slipped the half-off ring back onto his ring finger, a smile uncontrollably spreading across his face. He looked at the remaining jewelry on the table and stretched out his other hand as well.
"Then let me try on some other rings. I can't lose this hand either."
While the atmosphere inside the house eased, Qiao Mei and Ao Cang, who were waiting in the flower garden outside, were looking at the message sent by Xu Heyu on their personal computer bracelets.
Qiao Mei should have avoided Ao Cang when she saw the news, but to prevent him from overthinking, she let him read it with her.
Xu Heyu told her that he had recently built a mecha in real life, but had not yet officially used it. He heard from Xu Wenfeng that she had already built the "Black Crow Boy" mecha, so he wanted to ask her if she had time to meet him and help him check on the progress of his mecha.
Qiao Mei could have agreed to this directly, but she asked Ao Cang for his opinion first.
"If you don't want me to go, then I won't go. Let him ask my grandfather or Teacher Gong to see him. What do you think?"
