Qiao Jingjing pulled the girl in front of her and carefully examined her to see if she resembled the deceased Yu Mei.
Whether it's A Luo or Ye Rong, who are now by Qiao Jingjing's side, they all arrived late and haven't seen what Yu Mei looked like before.
Sun Quan had met Yu Mei, but Yu Mei was his sister-in-law's maid, and he couldn't keep her appearance in his mind all the time, so he didn't know her very well.
Qiao Jingjing looked the girl over and over again, and asked her many questions in detail.
It can be roughly confirmed that she is Yu Mei's younger sister who went missing when she was a child.
She was sold by human traffickers along with Yu Mei back then.
Besides, even if she wasn't Yu Mei's sister, Qiao Jingjing would still accept her since she brought her back.
“From now on you will follow me! You look so pitiful, so I’ll call you A-Shu. A-Luo will teach you. Once you’ve learned some skills and manners, you can play with the young ladies.”
The little girl Sun Quan brought back was originally surnamed Pan, and was the sister of Pan Yumei. Her original name was Pan Shu. Because her family was poor when they were young, their parents sold both sisters. The older sister, Yumei, ended up in Qiao Jingjing's hands. Because Sun Min had committed murder to cover up the crime years ago, Yumei had taken the blame for Qiao Jingjing. Qiao Jingjing vowed to find Yumei's sister and raise her to adulthood to repay Yumei's kindness.
Pan Shu was about three years old when she was transferred from one slave trader to another. Once, she fell ill and the slave trader, seeing that she was beyond saving, abandoned her by the roadside. Unexpectedly, she found a dry steamed bun with the refugees and miraculously survived.
Someone went to Jingzhou and took Pan Shu with them, and they wandered around along the way.
The poor girl sometimes ate wild grass by the roadside. When she was lucky, she could climb a tree and pick a rotten fruit to eat. If she was really lucky, she could even find a dead bird or half a rat's tail.
The luckiest day of Pan Shu's life was probably the moment she was discovered by Sun Quan.
Entrusted by his sister-in-law Qiao Jingjing, Sun Quan was tasked with finding a little girl with a red mole between her eyebrows.
Coincidentally, this ragged girl was begging from Sun Quan's army by the roadside. Sun Quan ordered his entourage to scatter silver and some dry food buns to these beggars by the roadside. The little girl picked up half a bun, grinned at them, and as she raised her hand to wipe her forehead, the mud on her forehead spread out, revealing her lovely little red mole.
Sun Quan thought to himself, "She's the one. I've been looking for her for years."
Sun Quan took the girl into his army and had her washed and dressed in clean clothes.
Upon returning to Wu County, I brought him to my sister-in-law's place.
For Qiao Jingjing, it wouldn't be difficult to support an extra person in her family in order to repay Yu Mei's kindness.
But little A-Shu had long forgotten her real name, Pan Shu. She had arrived in a luxurious haven, filled with countless fairy-like figures, exquisite wines and delicacies, the most delicious food in the world, and the most distinguished young ladies, gentlemen, and wives. A-Shu thought she had arrived in paradise.
However, what Ah Shu longed to see most was the man who had given her steamed buns that day and rescued her from the mud puddle.
Everyone calls her General Sun.
Little A-Shu also learned from others that this General Sun was an extraordinary figure, the ruler of Jiangdong, a god of this land, and the most noble man in this family.
As for Ah Shu, everyone now called her Lady Da Qiao, the mistress she was following.
In the days that followed, A-Shu gradually came to understand why Lady Da Qiao was able to live such a noble life: it was because Lady Da Qiao had a remarkable husband.
A seed was planted in Ah Shu's young heart: she would marry the most noble man in the world when she grew up.
Years later, A-Shu grew into a beautiful woman who won Sun Quan's favor and gave birth to his son. She was also once the most favored concubine in the Eastern Wu harem.
That's a story for another time.
Since Yu Mei died that year, Qiao Jingjing only had two capable maids by her side, Ye Rong and A Luo. Both of them were good-looking and skilled in martial arts.
She was personally selected by Sun Ce to serve Qiao Jingjing.
The head maid, A'luo, was once ordered by Qiao Jingjing to monitor Guo Jia.
Unfortunately, due to Sun Ce's sudden death, Guo Jia had to flee in haste.
A Luo returned to Qiao Jingjing's side to report back.
In the year or so that followed, Qiao Jingjing was constantly surrounded by both big and small events.
It's impossible to discuss A Luo's responsibility and mission in overseeing Guo Jia's affairs.
Since A-Shu came to Fu Garden, Qiao Jingjing asked A-Luo to teach her manners.
A-Shu learned the etiquette and rules of Fu Garden from A-Luo, and also learned martial arts from A-Luo.
Ah Shu thought everything here was great, except that all the women here were like goddesses and none of them were chatting or laughing.
One day, A-Shu finally mustered up the courage to ask A-Luo why?
Arro told Ashu to shut up:
"It's none of your business to pry into the affairs of your masters! Eat when there's food, do when there's work, and do whatever you're told. It's not your place, a little maid, to ask so many questions!"
Laughter did exist in Fu Garden, though.
For example, when Sun Quan and his sister Sun Shangxiang came to play and visit.
For example, when Sun Yi's wife, Xu, and Sun Quan's concubine, Yuan Shiyi, came to chat with Lady Da Qiao, they also exchanged a few hearty words and laughed.
There were also times when the young masters and ladies were reading, practicing calligraphy, playing games, and having fun.
But there might not be that much laughter among the servants.
Besides these, Aro himself was also sorrowful.
All of A'Luo's worries stemmed from the fact that Sun Ce and Da Qiao had been incredibly kind to her, even giving her a second life, while she herself had already developed unusual feelings for Guo Jia.
A'Luo cannot betray Lady Da Qiao's entrustment to her; she must keep a close watch on Guo Jia, but she cannot bear to let Guo Jia perish in her hands.
