Yu Mei still held up a lantern for her.
It was already late.
Qiao Jingjing asked Pearl to stay in the house and tend the stove and charcoal fire, brewing hot tea.
“Yu Mei and I are going out to see my mother. You wait here in the house. If Lord Wu comes back, it won’t be so quiet and deserted with no one to take care of her.”
Pearl was initially unhappy about being left alone by Qiao Jingjing.
This makes her, a mere maid, seem unimportant.
Qiao Jingjing asked her to stay, but she was afraid that if Sun Ce came back, she wouldn't be able to call for help from inside the house.
Pearl also felt that the job she was given wasn't bad.
Qiao Jingjing and Yu Mei, carrying small lanterns, braved the cold wind and arrived at the courtyard where the Qiao family lived in peace.
The small courtyard is extremely exquisite.
The lights were still on in Qiao Er and Qiao San's rooms, and their father was still reading under the lamp.
Mrs. Joe had already lain down.

If she were a man, she would do anything for a woman like that.
"Qiao Er and Qiao San! As the eldest sister, have you ever thought about their future?"
Qiao Jingjing was obviously thinking about something.
But it's not the same line of thinking as Joe's mother.
Mrs. Joe suddenly turned fierce:
"Watch me closely! I'm not a tigress, I'm not going to eat you up!"
Old Man Qiao quickly stopped him: "Keep your voice down, this is someone else's house, it's not good if others hear us."
Then, Aunt Qiao whispered an order to Qiao Jingjing:
"If Lord Wu comes to your room again tonight, you must seize the opportunity to find a fighting job for Qiao Er and Qiao San! They are your own brothers. If you miss this chance to make a name for yourself, when will you get another chance?"
