Chapter 101 Can You Hear the Dharma? Can You Know the Tao?

The Eastern Pure Land of Lapis Lazuli——

The flowing sword light seemed to exist only in a dream, just like moonlight, seemingly void, yet seemed to have existed long ago. The Bodhisattva of Moonlight was already a high-level Bodhisattva, yet he could not see the beginning and end of this sword. He could only vaguely feel a kind of enlightenment.

It wasn't that he came here and drew his sword.

But when he came here, in a flash, he knew that there should have been such a sword in this world.

Therefore, it has no beginning and no end.

Therefore, this sword energy has no beginning and no end.

Just as the laws of nature are constant, the great road, like the sun and the moon, keeps moving.

What a state of mind this is. The moonlight illuminating all things is the limit of the road ahead that I can see, and such a state of mind is already unpredictable and unimaginable. For a moment, the Bodhisattva of Moonlight Illuminating All Things had no fear of death. He only had the joy of seeing the distant road ahead, and the sadness of looking back at himself and realizing that he was so far away from the great road that he shed tears.

Medicine Master Liuli Light Tathagata sighed and said gently:

"Thank you, Lord Dao, for showing mercy."

Taoist Qingjun said calmly: "The immortal way values life."

“It should be so.”

"God's mercy..."

Medicine Buddha put his hands together, revealing a body of infinite pure lapis lazuli light. He gently chanted Buddhist scriptures, and then cracks appeared on his body. These cracks flowed and changed on this infinite pure lapis lazuli dharmakaya, but not only could they not be filled and repaired by the infinite Buddha light, but instead they spread more and more, and the traces became more and more severe, until finally they covered his dharmakaya all over, looking tragic and terrifying.

The handsome Taoist turned around, his sleeves swept through the clouds, and walked away step by step with a flat voice.

"Thinking of you, it is not easy to practice."

"It only cuts off one of your three Buddha lives."

His eyes were calm and he said calmly:

"Don't do it again in your next life."

The pure lapis lazuli images behind him shattered one after another, emitting the light of relics. The sky was filled with thirty-six white rainbows, coming and going in all directions. After a long time, the dharma body of Medicine Buddha shattered, leaving only an old monk sitting upright on a lotus platform. His aura was greatly dissipated and his face was pale. After all, he was the leader of the Three Saints of the Eastern Buddhist Kingdom and the ancestor of a lineage of Buddhism. Although his body was severed in this life, he did not perish immediately.

Seeing the sorrowful face of Moonlight Bodhisattva, he comforted her:

"Don't worry, the Great Celestial Lord of Shangqing Lingbao didn't really kill him."

"Just a small warning."

Bodhisattva Moonlight All-Seeing shed tears: "To sever the life of the Tathagata in this way, is this a small warning?"

Medicine Master Liuli Light Tathagata sighed and said, "Forget it. I already have a complete nature, so I am barely able to survive."

“Even if it’s Jade Purity Great Celestial Venerable or Supreme Great Celestial Venerable, there’s no way they could defeat me like this with just one move. But the path that Shangqing Lingbao Great Celestial Venerable cultivates is [Kalpa Destruction]. The Treasure Edict praises him as follows: [The Era of the Cave Jade Calendar is divided into five calamities], and he is the most murderous. In this way, he can be called the leader of the Three Pure Ones.”

"He didn't draw his sword again."

"It's already mercy."

"It was also because I tried to explore the Dao Sect and the Eastern Qi that he noticed it."

"I was prepared for being discovered, but I didn't expect that he would be the one to be attracted."

"If it is the Supreme who comes here for the first time, I will be fine; if it is Yuqing who comes here, he will just be sealed off from the Buddhist kingdom for thousands of years."

"Only the Great Celestial Lord Shangqing is free and easy."

"Just follow your heart."

"Even Jade Purity Celestial Venerable can't do anything to him. He came here, maybe just to chat, or maybe he will directly draw his sword. No one can guess, no one can predict, and no one dares to predict..., cough, Moonlight, please step back, let me reunite with my true nature, and maybe I don't need to go on to reincarnate."

The old monk sighed and said, "Great Lord, Great Heavenly Venerable, this is it."

"But my Buddhist sect is scattered everywhere. Even the thirty-three Buddhas and the thirteen Buddhist sects are fighting each other endlessly and even resorting to war. I once dreamed that the Western Paradise collapsed layer by layer and countless monks died tragically. The sky and the earth were dark, and finally the Buddhist bells in the Western Paradise were cut off. That dream was too terrible..."

The old monk shed tears and said, "Oh Buddha, where are you?"

"My disciple has been searching, my disciple has been pursuing, my disciple has already violated the precepts, but I have not yet found you."

"Where on earth are you?"

Inside Zhongzhou Prefecture City.

The big monk was planning to pull the young Taoist to talk to him, but it seemed that the unusual celestial phenomenon today made him lose his mind. First, there was a rosy glow in the west, which changed into a blood-red color. Then there were thirty-six white rainbows moving from the west. This made the big monk lose interest in talking. He just turned around and ran after the white light, tears already falling from his eyes.

While running wildly, he raised his sleeves to wipe away his tears.

Although Qi Wuhuo didn't know what had happened, he could feel the monk's sorrow.

He simply filled the wooden barrel with water under the Jiuyan Bridge and mixed in medicines to ward off evil spirits and remove toxins, then chose another road and leisurely headed towards the Lianyang Temple. At this time Mingxin felt a little annoyed, as there was such a good place to join in the fun and listen to people from all over the street talking about this matter, but he still had to carry a large wooden barrel filled with water and sprinkle water on the streets along the way back to the Taoist temple.

This kind of thing was only of interest at the beginning, but gradually became boring later on.

"How long will this take, Uncle Qi?"

The young Taoist said, "If I can do something, then that's good enough."

"Then why don't you tell the authorities?"

"Useless."

"They only do things that can produce results. We have no way to give them benefits, nor can we let them see their potential achievements. For them, such things will mobilize manpower, waste money and bring no benefits. Even honest officials will not do them."

"Because they just do things like this and they don't get results."

"You will be attacked by your opponents. There are too many checks and balances. Even if you are willing to do something, it will be difficult to achieve your goals. This is a must."

Ming Xin was puzzled: "Uncle Qi, you are obviously not that old, how come you seem to know so much about these things?"

The young Taoist pinched his fingers and a stream of water flew out, spilling onto the ground. He replied gently, "I dreamed about it."

Ming Xin was dejected: "Uncle Master, you lied to me again."

"I'm not a kid anymore!"

The young Taoist smiled slightly and was about to speak, but he sensed the smell of drugs such as realgar that can dispel evil and poison in front of him. He raised his eyes slightly and saw some people in official clothes walking towards him, also carrying buckets and sprinkling water mixed with realgar. They were also surprised to see the young Taoist in front of them. They talked to each other for a few words, and it seemed that someone recognized the young Taoist Mingxin and asked, "Is it the Taoist priest from Lianyang Temple?"

The young Taoist priest Mingxin stepped forward and agreed:

"It's me, I'm Mingxin, and this is my Uncle Qi."

"I just don't know what Captain Li is doing..."

The capable warrior smiled and said, "There have been many diseases among the people in the city these days. A nobleman came forward and asked us to sprinkle some water mixed with realgar to drive away evil spirits and poison. I didn't expect that several people in Lianyang Temple were also doing the same thing. We have the same idea. With the help of a few Taoist priests, we can soon sprinkle the realgar water all over the city."

Mingxin was surprised and subconsciously glanced at Qi Wuhuo.

Then he took it back, chatted with the captain for a while as if nothing had happened, and then dispersed.

Each of them chose a path to sprinkle the realgar water, and Mingxin said, "Uncle Qi, look, you are wrong, aren't you?"

"These government officials can do the same thing!"

The young Taoist was wondering who the so-called noble person was who had such a great reputation.

Zhongzhou Prefecture City has an extremely high status, and it is difficult for others to persuade the officials here to do things that are not beneficial to them.

Unless these officials think that the face of this nobleman is more valuable.

This is recognized by both corrupt and honest people.

Who is it?

The young Taoist was curious, but when he heard it, he just smiled and said, "Yes."

"It's Uncle Master's fault."

He made his way back to Lianyang Temple. It was almost dusk. At noon, he just had a bowl of rice noodles on the roadside. The young Taoist saw a man in a sheepskin coat holding an iron skewer. He pierced a green pepper with it and roasted it over the fire. The pepper skin was wrinkled. Then he sprinkled salt on it and ate half a mouthful of it. He then ate the noodles in big mouthfuls. It was pure noodles without any smell of sauce, but he ate it in big mouthfuls. It looked very fragrant.

But after the young Taoist looked at the pepper, he gave up trying.

I returned to Lianyang Temple and had dinner with the old Taoist priest.

The young Taoist Mingxin, who thought he had escaped morning and evening classes, was dragged away. With a sorrowful face, he stretched out his hand and called out to Uncle Qi, "Save me!" But he was still dragged away under the gentle gaze of the young Taoist. Qi Wuhuo laughed, got up and swept the floor, put away the dishes, and planned to try to transmit his breath directly to the peacock egg after he returned.

Because these auras are directly targeted at the spiritual, they can be used even while still inside the eggshell.

Qi Wuhuo returned to the scripture hall of the Taoist temple.

Light an oil lamp.

He took out the jade bottle from the sword box, and then walked towards the peacock egg step by step.

Caress the peacock egg with your palm and feel the spirituality within it.

Just as he was about to transmit his spiritual power, he suddenly lowered his head slightly, and the wooden hairpin fell off from his hair and dropped to the ground with a soft sound. The young Taoist's hairpin scattered, and his black hair fell down. He leaned over to get the wooden hairpin, and when he looked up, he saw his own reflection in the Bagua mirror in the Sutra Pavilion. There was actually a streak of different color in his black hair.

Qi Wuhuo was slightly surprised. He raised his hand to pick up the black hair, and then pulled it out with a little force.

Under the oil lamp in front of him, this strand of black hair actually emitted a strange golden color, appearing as clear as glass.

"Hmm? What is this..."

Qi Wuhuo was puzzled, and suddenly he felt the hair light up slightly, and then spread out and turned into a bright light. In just a moment, it illuminated the entire scripture pavilion, brilliant and magnificent, clear and transparent. The young Taoist put down his hand and looked at the old monk who appeared in the Buddha's light in front of him. He was not in a hurry, and slowly tied the hairpin. Then he said: "Master, where did you come from?"

Earlier, Qi Wuhuo broke the old ox's mind.

Naturally, the Buddha's light flows here along the mirror.

Other Buddhist lineages may not be able to do this.

However, the Buddhist teachings of the Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss rely on the flow of light on the mirror-like surface to come and go, but it is only a matter of a thought. At this moment, this ray of clear Buddha light seems to have lost its self-awareness. It is wearing a monk's robe, which cannot hide the sword marks. It just puts its hands together and chants the mysterious sounds of Buddhism. There are flowers falling from the sky and golden lotuses emerging from the ground. Qi Wuhuo is sitting on one side of the table with an oil lamp lit on it, and on the other side is the golden Buddha.

The young Taoist listened carefully.

After the Buddha finished reciting the sutra, he then recited the "Medicine Buddha Sutra", stating the twelve great vows.

"I say, 'May I, in the next life, when I attain Anuttara Samyaksambodhi, shine with blazing light, illuminating countless boundless worlds, and adorn my body with the thirty-two marks of a great man and the eighty minor marks, so that all sentient beings will be the same as me...'"

"May my body be like glass, clear inside and out, pure and without flaws, and bright and vast when I attain Bodhi in the next life..."

It was wonderful beyond words. Every word he said seemed to have some kind of mysterious power that made the whole world tremble slightly, and made the Buddha's light on his body even clearer and more transparent, pure and flawless, like colored glaze. His words and speech seemed to be able to stir up the great way of heaven and earth and educate people's hearts.

He recited the twelve great vows and many other great vows one by one.

Suddenly, a gentle voice asked, "Master, are you wrong?"

The Medicine Buddha reflected in the ray of lapis lazuli Buddha light lowered his eyes.

The young Taoist really listened carefully, and then thought seriously, and after careful consideration, he asked calmly:

“The third great vow is to enable all sentient beings to obtain [endless things to enjoy], and not to let any living being lack anything.”

“Buddhism also says that the world is full of suffering, and suffering comes from desire.”

"You want to use your infinite magical powers to satisfy the desires of countless people? From a purely Buddhist perspective, isn't this going against the Dharma?"

"The third truth of Buddhism's path to cultivating the mind is the truth of extinction, which is to eliminate all bad desires and achieve a pure and free state of mind. If your ambition is to satisfy all desires, does it also include bad desires?"

"And when you are reborn in the Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, you can [have precious ornaments, garlands, perfumes, drums, music, and various performances to play as you wish].

"Isn't this tempting sentient beings with desire?"

The young Taoist expressed his doubts in a gentle voice.

He sat beside the oil lamp, which was bright, and looked at the Buddha's light opposite him. He stretched out his right hand and asked:

"A monk."

"Do you know the Four Noble Truths?"
