Chapter 122 Why is it called immortal, why is it the Tao

Qi Wuhuo had a peaceful mind and did not notice anything different or unusual. He opened his eyes between half asleep and half awake, and saw the old man sitting in front of him. The light around him was dim, like the setting sun in the afternoon, warm and peaceful, making people relax and fall asleep unconsciously. There seemed to be a lamp made of insects covered with gauze on the table.

In a trance, it seemed as if I was still at my home at the foot of Helian Mountain, in that small courtyard.

There are plum blossoms in the yard, pedestrians outside the window, and green mountains in the distance.

The old man sat in front of him, and the young man seemed to have just finished meditating and was feeling sleepy in the afternoon, so he lay on his wooden table and fell asleep. The old man waved his hand, picked up a piece of white paper, and looked at the words on it for a long time, then said gently:

"Wuhuo, I have been through a lot of things."

The young Taoist nodded.

The old man's eyes were gentle, and he asked, "How have you been doing during this period when the teacher was away?"

"Are there any things you like? What have you seen?"

The young Taoist replied: "I have seen many things along the way."

The old man stroked his beard and smiled gently, "Oh? Tell me about it."

The young Taoist slowly told the old man about his experiences, what he had seen and heard. He had seen the world and knew many sorrows, just like when he was still living a leisurely life at the foot of the mountain. The old man just listened to the young man's experience gently and quietly, and then stroked his beard and said, "So that's how it is. The time is not long, but the experience is rich."

"Then there is no doubt. After practicing till this point, have you gained anything?"

The old man asked with a smile:

"Do you know that if you keep everything in your mind, it will distract you and be of no benefit to your cultivation of the immortal way?"

The young Taoist replied, "Yes, but Master, I think I didn't go wrong."

"Nothing."

"Why is he called an immortal?"

"What disciples cultivate is the way of man."

The old man did not say anything else, but just looked at his young disciple gently, with admiration and pity in his eyes. In the end, he said nothing, but stretched out his hand and rubbed the boy's hair, just like when he was at the foot of the mountain. The boy slept peacefully, and the old man just picked up all the white papers, and then held a volume of Taoist scriptures, reading quietly under the light, and time passed so slowly.

"Uncle Qi? Uncle Qi, wake up..."

"Are you sleepy?"

When the young Taoist Mingxin pushed open the door, he saw the young Taoist sleeping on the table.

There are folded sheets of white paper on the table.

So he tiptoed over carefully and saw that the words on the white paper were all written in cloud seal script. He couldn't understand them, so he gave up, lowered his head, and whispered: "Uncle Qi~"

"The food is ready, do you want to eat?"

"Do you want to eat? Yes, I want to eat..."

Before he could finish, he was hit on the head. The old Taoist held his disciple with one hand, shook his head, lowered his voice, and said, "Be quiet..." He then looked at the sleeping young Taoist, sighed, and said, "It seems that I don't know what happened to him, and his mind is quite exhausted."

They saw that when the young Taoist priest fell asleep, his eyes were closed and his brows were delicate.

He lacked the temperament he had when chatting in daily life and looked like a child.

Was just a child.

The old Taoist thought, at this age, they should be running around the world with swords on their backs, seeing the grass growing and the birds flying, and practicing with their senior sisters and brothers. What else could be so wrong? The young Taoist Mingxin widened his eyes, stretched out his hand and quietly poked the young Taoist's cheek, then widened his eyes, took it back, and whispered:

"Master Uncle doesn't look much older than me!"

"Shh, keep your voice down."

"Let your uncle sleep, we'll talk tomorrow."

The old Taoist held the little Taoist priest between his elbows.

Even with their old arms and legs, they still had to tiptoe to walk out step by step. When the old and dilapidated wooden door creaked as it opened and closed, the two Taoists, one old and one young, widened their eyes, held their breath, carefully opened the door, and then slowly walked out and carefully closed the door. Then they let out a long sigh, as if they had accomplished something great, looked at each other, and laughed together.

Only the young Taoist was left here, sleeping peacefully all night.

Qi Wuhuo woke up with a slight itchy feeling.

He opened his eyes dazedly. The sunlight was a little dazzling. The young Taoist squinted his eyes. The little peacock was pecking his cheek gently. Qi Wuhuo pulled the little peacock away. The latter opened its mouth and rubbed his face happily when the young Taoist woke up. Then the spirit shouted in voice transmission -

"Aqi, Aqi, I'm hungry!"

"Hungry!"

The young Taoist was helpless.

The little peacock seems to have a bigger and bigger appetite.

He had to experience what it meant to have parents. After comforting the little peacock, Qi Wuhuo stretched out his body. Although he had slept on his stomach all night, he did not feel any discomfort in his blood. At this moment, his essence and energy had already merged into one innate qi. There were some differences in the physique of the young Taoist and ordinary people. As long as his energy did not dissipate, he would not die immediately even if he bled to death.

The three have been reversed to two.

When he went out, the sun was shining brightly, the breeze was blowing on his face, and his mind was at peace again. The young Taoist was breathing and practicing qigong, looking very serious, while the old Taoist was just holding a Taoist scripture and reading it carefully with great interest. Only when Qi Wuhuo came out did he put down the scripture, smile slightly and nodded.

After reaching the level of innate Qi, there is no need to regulate the internal Qi.

The components of an ordinary person are primordial spirit, primordial energy, and primordial essence.

The practitioners at this level are the primordial spirit and primordial qi, which represent the transition and change of the life level.

The average person's lifespan is only about 120 years, but for Qi Wuhuo it is easy for him to live to over 300 years old.

The practice at this moment is no longer about meditation and breathing regulation, but about circulating one's own innate Qi.

To control it with spirit is called [fire control].

The sun represents nature and the primordial spirit. Its symbol in Taoism is fire.

And "hou" means to wait and see.

The words "fire and time" were passed down from Taoism, and are often used by the general public to refer to whether something can be done successfully or not. However, the explanation within Taoism is that it is the key and timing to use fire, that is, to use the primordial spirit to control the flow and transformation of primordial Qi.

This is the [degree of heat] of practice, which is divided into [advance and retreat], [rise and fall], and [slow and urgent].

There is the temperature for cooking, the temperature for training, the temperature for starting, the temperature for stopping, the temperature for advancing yang, the temperature for retreating yin, the temperature for returning the elixir, and the temperature for the great elixir. In addition to these, there are also ways to increase, decrease, warm and nourish, and change. They are especially numerous. It can be seen that practice is also a delicate skill.

Without the true teachings, even if one has the opportunity to step into the innate Qi, one will not be able to go any further and will not be able to polish oneself.

But even those who have entered this path and received the true teachings often make a wrong step and have no possibility of achieving a higher level.

Only in this way can those who have passed through this complicated stage be respected as "real people".

It is not something that ordinary people can achieve.

The reason why the innate Qi cultivated in each classic has its own characteristics is because of its different rise and fall, advance and retreat, slowness and speed. There is Qi that is continuous, and there is also sharp and fierce Qi that never retreats. Qi Wuhuo has only seen the cultivation method given to him by Senior Sister Yu Miao in the "Hunyuan Sword Classic", which includes the method of [Refining Qi].

So the young Taoist just quietly held a book and sat down under the tree.

The young Taoist Mingxin was feeling very sad.

There are only three Taoists in this Taoist temple.

He is the only one who needs to practice breathing and refining Qi!

What's the point of my breathing?

It’s better to “rebel”!

Go eat candied haws!

But the old Taoist held the Taoist scripture and rolled it up, gently touched his head, and said: "Concentrate your mind and concentrate."

So the little Taoist priest had no choice but to honestly say, "Oh."

When Qi Wuhuo was flipping through the Taoist scriptures, he was actually "reading" the Hunyuan Sword Canon given to him by his senior sister. This was the path of the sword immortal that he created himself based on the Tai Shang Xuan Men. It required extremely sharp movement of Qi, and there was no way of retreat. The manuscript of old Mr. Ao Liu, the chapter on chess game and clouds and rain, also had the content of the level of innate Qi, which was the way to express oneself with ease and ease. The manuscript of his good friend the mountain god's practice was a path he had figured out himself.

The operation of the primordial spirit and primordial qi is rough and grand, but there are occasional brilliant strokes.

Tan Tai Xuan's "Record of Becoming an Immortal" only covers the content of the innate Qi.

There are many methods and insights of practicing in a free and easy manner in the world.

Good at small-scale movement of Yuan Qi.

The young Taoist flipped through the book, thoughtfully. Of course, the innate Qi not only prolonged the lifespan brought by the qualitative change of the life level, but also made it possible to finally cast spells through the air. Before this, even if your vitality was as vast as the ocean, it was impossible for you to leave your body. This is a difference in level, so Qi Wuhuo slightly raised his finger and used his finger to pull slightly.

The old Taoist noticed a breeze in the void.

Smile knowingly.

Sure enough, once a practitioner takes this step, it will be impossible for him to resist trying.

He did the same thing back then, but he used his primordial spirit to attract primordial qi. The principle was to use [two] to guide [three], but it was not that easy.

The first time he controlled an object, it took him several days to succeed.

As for the traction spell, it took him three months. This was because his foundation was solid. Cultivation is not that simple...

Suddenly, the wind sounded slightly stronger.

The old Taoist looked up in surprise.

A fallen leaf flew up, it was the wind flowing, and then the sound of the wind changed slightly. The wind came, first brushing his face like the light of spring, and then spreading. The old Taoist felt his beard and sleeves moving slightly, as if immersed in water, and his breathing felt faintly stagnant. After an unknown amount of time, the Taoist robe suddenly shook open, and the young Taoist Mingxin heard the movement next to him and opened his eyes in a daze.

Look around.

Seeing the young Taoist priest over there with his eyes downcast, he sat under the old tree and read a book. He turned a page of the Taoist scripture, and the Yuan Qi pulled and changed. A violent storm arose around him, as if the Yuan Qi waves between heaven and earth were flowing and changing, like a stream swirling, whistling, and rushing into the sky, while the small space where the young Taoist priest was was safe and motionless. Qi Wuhuo slightly lowered his eyes and said to himself: "So that's it..."

"Mr. Ao Liu's water control chapter, the movement of clouds and the rise of fog, are just changes in Yuan Qi."

"The skills can be as simple as controlling the wind."

"I see. I seem to understand a little bit."

The old Taoist seemed to sense something was wrong.

This is clearly a simple method of using the Primordial Spirit to control the Primordial Qi and quickly attract the Primordial Qi of heaven and earth to form a strong wind. Even a wild cultivator can do it when he steps into the Primordial Qi, just like when a person waves his hand there will be a little wind. The principle is actually that the rapid flow of the Primordial Qi attracts the wind, but something seems to have changed in an instant, and suddenly there seems to be a majestic atmosphere.

The young Taoist pointed his finger downward.

"The wind is rising."

The wind was raging wildly, and the old Taoist suddenly stood up, his hair and beard dancing behind him, his eyes wide open. In his spiritual perception, the young Taoist was sitting there, and countless strong winds that were invisible to the naked eye gathered together, and finally turned into a dragon with hair and beard, with its head raised and tail lowered, roaring and humming silently, and was circling in the entire Taoist temple accompanied by the surge of the young man's soul, with a very calm posture.

The old Taoist murmured: "Magic power?!!!"

Suddenly, there was a loud rustling sound. The young Taoist Mingxin was not paying attention. His small wooden sword was brushed by the wind and swept directly into the air. The young Taoist Mingxin screamed and stood up suddenly, saying, "My sword!" He stretched out his hand to grab it, but the old Taoist held him down and said, "Wait for it to fall down."

But I heard a gentle voice saying, "Let me do it."

The young Taoist looked and saw that the young Taoist had disappeared. Just as he was stunned, he saw a figure flying into the air and grabbing the sword with just one hand. A strong wind swirled around his body, and the young Taoist did not fall heavily as if he had fallen from a high altitude, but fell slowly like a feather.

Holding the Taoist scripture in one hand and the sword in the other, his blue Taoist robe danced vigorously, his black hair fluttered slightly, and he was extremely calm, as if he came from the wind and landed gently on the ground. He held the Taoist scripture in his hands and put it behind his back. He turned the sword in his left hand and placed it in front of Mingxin.

The young Taoist Mingxin's eyes widened: "Uncle Qi, you can fly?!!"

The young Taoist shook his head and replied, "It was just that the Yuan Qi attracted the Yuan Qi, which caused a gust of wind to lift me up."

"It's not really the wind."

The old Taoist couldn't help but say, "One gust of wind is not enough."

Qi Wuhuo thought for a moment and said, "I found that when Yuan Qi causes the wind to rotate, the force becomes stronger. If several wind storms rotate together, the repulsive force between them can lift me up. However, there are limits to the height and speed. If I can control Yuan Qi, I can do what I just did."

The old man reluctantly said, "Is it... you who have to pass on such a method?"

"You're practicing really fast."

The young Taoist shook his head and said, "My teacher didn't teach me. I learned it myself."

The young Taoist's eyes widened, and he pulled the boy's sleeve and said, "Can you teach me?"

The young Taoist said gently, "Okay."

"I'll teach you once I perfect it."

The young Taoist Mingxin said happily: "Then I want to choose a nice name!"

Qi Wuhuo patted his head. The young Taoist Mingxin looked at his teacher and said, "However, what Uncle Qi just said about Yuanqi control is so difficult to understand. Teacher, can you explain it to me? That way I may be able to learn faster in the future."

The old Taoist was silent, coughed, and said calmly, "You little guy."

"The foundation of Taoism is not enough."

"It's useless to tell you."

"Well, when you reach my level, you will know it naturally, naturally."

"Eh? Is that so?"

The young Taoist Mingxin looked suspicious.

The old Taoist blushed and scolded, "Why don't you practice faster?"

"How could the teacher lie to you?!"

Qi Wuhuo was slowly caressing the differences and mysterious techniques of the innate Qi.

But in that extremely distant and ethereal realm, someone was playing chess.

A Taoist priest wearing a Taoist robe and with a dignified face came down and said calmly, "Brother, what did you do when you just sent a wisp of your spirit down to the mortal world?"

The old Taoist on the opposite side smiled gently and said, "It's just a moment of distraction."

The middle-aged Taoist priest with a dignified face made a move and said calmly, "I know it even if you don't tell me."

He made a move, looked at the old man, and said, "I heard that Brother Dao has accepted a disciple recently?"

"Is it called Xuanwei?"

"I am a little curious."
