Chapter 185: Under the Fangcun Mountain, Jin Chan Met the Master

The young monk looked at the Taoist priest in front of him and said thoughtfully:

"Fang Cun Mountain, Qi Wuhuo..."

He looked the Taoist up and down, then suddenly clapped his hands and smiled, saying, "So it's you, it's you, Lord Buddha, I've been waiting for you for a long time!" He took a half step forward, pointed at the Taoist in front of him, and scolded, "Zhenwu ** Devil, Taishang Xuanwei, the one whose hands are stained with the blood of all Buddhas, is it you?"

"The one who killed countless people with his own strength, is it you?!"

"as well as--"

The golden cicada in front of the Buddha had clear and calm eyes and said:

"It was you who single-handedly created the blood debt of Nalanda Monastery, was it you?"

The Taoist said, "The incident at Nalanda Temple was done by fellow Daoist Shangqing Dongxuan, not me."

The Golden Cicada in front of the Buddha laughed loudly and said, "You say it is him, and everyone else also says it is him, but why can't this "he" be "you"? Others are all attached to appearances, but I am different." He stretched out two fingers, pointed at his eyes, and said:

"Master Buddha, I have a pair of eyes that only see the true face. You can deceive others, but you can't deceive me."

"But, whether those damned thieves, bald heads or whatever, live or die has nothing to do with me."

"The Buddha doesn't care."

He shrugged his shoulders casually and said, "They are full of blood and determination, sitting upright on the lotus platform, but their hearts are full of mud. It's just that I, the Buddha, am unwilling to take action. Otherwise, I should have drawn out the demon-subduing pestle and smashed the heads of those monks one by one like hitting a field rat."

Qi Wuhuo asked: "You want to kill them?"

"No... you've already done it."

There was a faint smell of blood on the body of the monk Jinchan in front of him.

Jin Chan smiled and replied, "I am the demon beast they are talking about. Is it wrong to kill them?"

"Besides, when something like this happens, the Buddha is saving them."

Qi Wuhuo asked: "How to save him?"

Jin Chan said: "There are only two ways to deal with such a matter. One is to sit back and do nothing, allowing them to do whatever they want and kill people. However, killing people will hinder cultivation. If they are allowed to do whatever they want, they will inevitably fall into the endless purgatory. The second way is to inform the world of their behavior."

"So all the people were enraged, and they gathered all the power in the world and in the sky to surround and kill these monks who had gone astray."

"Therefore, when common people have murderous intentions and commit murderous acts, it hinders the purity of the mind and hinders spiritual practice."

"What does Zhenwu Great Emperor think of this?"

"Whether I sit back and do nothing or make it known to the world, there will be living beings who will become angry, murderous, distressed, and fall into purgatory. How miserable is that?"

Qi Wuhuo asked: "What should we do?"

The handsome monk showed his white teeth and smiled: "Of course I can only kill them myself."

"In this way, those evil monks don't have to commit murder anymore. I don't have to tell other people to kill and end up in purgatory. It's only me who has the murderous intent and kills people, and ends up in the endless purgatory. This is the so-called various sufferings, all of which are in my body. What do you think, Great Emperor Zhenwu?"

The Taoist was speechless: "...It seems to make sense, but it is also evil."

Jin Chan laughed loudly and said, "That's right."

"So these so-called 17-lineage Buddhist teachings are full of errors and omissions. I can discuss the Dharma and Buddha with them one by one. I can prove that their Buddhist teachings are all false and that there is no Buddha in this world. Then, the next moment, I can tell them that the so-called 17-lineage Buddhist teachings are nothing but the illusion of the beggar who knelt before the Bodhi tree before his death."

"But all of this is like a dream, without any meaning."

The golden cicada smiled and asked, "What does the Great Emperor Zhenwu think is meaningful?"

Qi Wuhuo reached out his hand and stroked the giant black snake beside him, and replied: "It seems that you think the Dharma they talk about is false, but you don't say that [Dharma] itself is false. It seems that you think your own Dharma is true, and the rest are false."

Jin Chan smiled and answered calmly: "Yes."

"I came to this world not to pass on the teachings of the Seventeen Sects, but to teach the true Dharma of Buddhism. Great Emperor Zhenwu, the road ahead is broad and the Dharma is boundless. Can you please give way? Using Taoism to drive out Buddhism is too overbearing."

The golden cicada in front of the Buddha finally revealed his true goal.

He did not really come for the Seventeen Lineages of Buddhism, but he did not really abandon Buddhism either.

Qi Wuhuo asked: "What is Buddhism?"

Jin Chan couldn't help but laugh: "Haha, it seems that the Great Emperor Zhenwu has also studied the Dharma of our Buddhist sect. Are you here today to test my foundation? Hahaha, come on, come on, come on!"

"The Great Emperor Zhenwu wants to block my way?"

"Let's try it first!"

Jin Chan suddenly took a step forward, and the river reversed. The monk's robe fluttered, and his body flashed like lightning. In the blink of an eye, he disappeared. The Taoist stepped lightly on the black snake under his feet, and the black snake seemed to have received mysterious help. It roared silently, and its scales flowed, and it shot out in the void at a speed that was not inferior to that of the extraordinary monk.

It is the way of walking.

What matters is the understanding of Taoism and Buddhism.

Jin Chan put his hands together, looking handsome, but with a wild look between his brows, and said loudly:

"Hahaha, since the Great Emperor Zhenwu is so interested, I will tell you about the infinite Buddhist teachings so that you will know why this world needs the Buddhist teachings!"

"My Buddha Dharma is for enlightenment, for breaking through delusion, for ascetic practice, for hard work, and for asceticism."

"To understand one's mind and see one's nature..."

The monk hurried along the way. He was very skilled in talking, especially in his chattering. He kept on talking, but his sentences were clear, and he fully expressed the profound true meaning of Buddhism. When he passed the mountain, he said that "all conditioned phenomena are impermanent", that is, all things that are combined by causes and conditions, all things that can be described, and all things that can be touched, have no definite conclusion and no constant state.

Talk about the boundless and endless Lotus Dharma.

Zhenwu ** Devil Dao: "The Dao that can be spoken is not the eternal Dao."

One says that everything is impermanent and inconclusive, and the other says that what can be expressed is not the eternal path.

This means that the ways that ordinary people can talk about cannot be called the "Eternal Way". In fact, everything is changing, and this change is inconclusive. But although there is no definite conclusion, all the "impermanence" of the way is fully included in the "Eternal Way" that cannot be said or described, but must exist.

Just six words encompass the monk's entire Buddhist teachings.

Buddhism is impermanent, but the Tao is eternal.

Jin Chan's expression became more serious. His speed remained unchanged. In the distance was water. The monk landed on the lake with a bang. The ripples of the water could not fall on him. The Buddha's light was brilliant and magnificent, clear and quiet. He put his hands together and said, "All suffering is caused by defilements!"

“All sufferings and afflictions of all sentient beings are poisons, all can be defilements, and all can be called obstacles.”

"How to break it, how to solve it?"

Jin Chan explained many methods of cultivation.

The Taoist replied: "Reach the utmost emptiness and maintain the deepest stillness."

These six words made Jin Chan's expression stagnate. His expression gradually became solemn, and the Buddha's light around him became more intense than before. It turned into a stream of light that swept across the road ahead. He once again expounded the mysteries of Buddhism, but the Taoist priest, who was sitting on the giant snake, still followed slowly. His words were concise and to the point, and there was a grand spectacle that encompassed the grandeur of Buddhism in these six words.

Coming from the mountains and leaving from the water, in an instant, he passed through the wasteland, the mountains, the desert, the snow-capped mountains, he spoke of the Four Noble Truths, the Eight Sufferings, the extinction of all sufferings, and the five aggregates. Jin Chan's expression and attitude changed from being arrogant and natural at the beginning to gradually becoming solemn and tense.

He spoke faster and faster, and his words became sharper and sharper, but his expression was no longer relaxed.

In the end, all of his Buddhist teachings were destroyed by this Taoist.

No matter how many wonderful methods Jin Chan said or how many examples he cited, the Taoist just downplayed it and spoke briefly and to the point, and each time he only said six words, as if he would lose if he said one more word. And these six words each time, six words every time, time and time again, seemed to form a majestic and magnificent scene.

Each answer was given in a calm tone.

Each answer seemed to be more weighty and more majestic than the last.

As Jin Chan listened to the Buddha's teachings in front of the Buddha, his heart was filled with endless ripples.

This is, the disciple of the Supreme? !

Is the disciple of Daozu really so terrifying?! I have been in the Buddha's presence for so many years, but I can't even win against this disciple of Taishang?!

Legend has it that the Tai Shang disciples have a high level of comprehension, but their foundation is not as solid as that of the Yu Qing disciples.

Not as good as the Shangqing disciples who are free and unrestrained.

It's not acceptable to have only one Supreme Disciple, what if he meets the other Yuqing Disciples? What if he meets the Shangqing Disciples? !

Jin Chan, who had already won the debate against all the Buddhas in the Seventeen Lineages of the Western Paradise, remained silent for a long time.

In the end, he exhausted all his Buddhist teachings, but still did not let the Taoist say anything more.

If this is on the road of the Tao, then now this road is a dead end, with nowhere to go, so I stopped, put my hands together, turned around and shouted: "You criticize my Buddhism, so I ask you a question, what is the Tao?!!!"

With this loud shout, Buddha's light flowed, and the sound echoed all around, seeming to shake the heaven and earth.

The river stopped flowing, the mountains trembled, and the grass and trees swayed like waves.

Taishang Xuanwei thought for a moment, stretched out his finger and pointed at the sky, the earth, and the golden cicada in front of him. The monk who had been arrogant since birth seemed to understand what the Taoist in front of him meant, and also felt the great spirit in this description, and said: "You mean... everything is Tao?"

So, Buddha is the Tao?

The Tai Shang lineage is so insightful, yet so arrogant!

Jin Chan originally thought that his background, his understanding, and his talent were enough to support his arrogance. Among all the Buddhas, he was the most arrogant. He had been out of the mountains for several years and had been in the human world for two years. During these two years, he had been invincible. He never thought that today he would meet a guy who was even more arrogant than himself.

But he knew it immediately.

What is the arrogance of the Supreme lineage?

Then he saw the Taoist retract his finger and said, "No."

"All things are naturally just things, certainly not Tao."

"Tao is the mother of all things."

It is the source of all things.

But not the things themselves.

Tao is also the source of Buddhism.

Jin Chan's expression froze.

Although Qi Wuhuo had seen the fate between the monk and himself in the future, he did not speak harshly to him. He just explained gently, "If the word Tao is used to describe the state of Tao, then Tao should be the beginning of heaven and earth. If it must be given a name, it is the mother of all things."

Jin Chan remained silent, standing there with a slightly sighed and complicated expression on his face.

The Taoist asked casually, "So, Jin Chan, why do you practice Buddhism?"

Jin Chan said: "To practice Buddhism is to practice Buddhism. It can not only cultivate oneself, but also save all living beings."

The Taoist pondered for a moment, then counted all the things he had seen, which were also the things that Jin Chan knew, including the Nalanda Temple and the Seventeen Veins method of Buddhism a few years ago, which supported the dragon veins and made temples everywhere in the world. Then he said:

"So, it is said that you are saving all living beings. But whether it is the existence of those Western Paradise Buddha Kingdoms or you who have come down from the mountain to the mortal world, is it for the sake of all living beings? Do you hope that all living beings will join the Buddhist sect, expand the Buddhist lineage, and make Buddhism flourish?"

"Is saving all living beings your goal, or is it just a high-sounding means?"

Jin Chan was speechless and his face turned pale for a moment.

"This poor monk..."

The Zhenwu Demon Emperor in front of him laughed to himself and said, "Why don't you call yourself Buddha?"

"I prefer the way you were just now, being rebellious and independent."

Jin Chan sighed in silence.

Qi Wuhuo simply sat down cross-legged and asked, "Nowadays, Buddhism is based on the Hinayana Buddhism for self-cultivation. The so-called universal salvation of the masses is actually the hope to use the masses to save oneself. It is not Hinayana. It can only save [me] and [cultivate with me]. It is just [Middle Vehicle]."

Jin Chan felt that this Taoist was fooling him, but he subconsciously bowed and said, "May I ask about Mahayana?"

The Taoist smiled and said, "How should I know?"

Golden Cicada: “…”

For a moment, he was furious and wanted to shout "Buddha" again, but the Taoist in front of him said:

"I don't know Buddha, I just say it for the time being, you just listen to it for the time being. If you practice your Buddhist teachings, who can become a Buddha?"

Jin Chan said: "Those who practice Hinayana Buddhism can only become Arhats at best, but cannot become Buddhas."

“That is not the case with Mahayana Buddhism.”

Qi Wuhuo said: "Practicing Mahayana Buddhism and saying that they are saving all sentient beings is actually spreading the Dharma to the outside world and cultivating the Buddhaland inside. Those who become Buddhas are those who pass on the Dharma lineage, right? They want the common people to support them and plunder the luck of the human world to cultivate themselves."

Jin Chan nodded silently.

The Taoist asked, "What if it's the other way around?"

in turn?!!

Jin Chan seemed to understand something, and slowly raised his head. Seeing the Taoist in front of him, he smiled and said, "I just teach the Dharma, but don't accept their offerings. I just teach the Buddhist principles, but don't teach the so-called rules of conversion. I abandon the so-called sects and leave behind the things that the monk under the Bodhi tree told you."

"Remove the dross and retain the essence."

"The Buddha imparts the Dharma to you, and you then impart the Dharma to others."

"And the disciples you teach will also pass on the pure Dharma and principles."

"In this way, everyone can become a Buddha."

boom!!!!

As if his mind was shaken, Jin Chan's pupils shrank, as if he had glimpsed a different direction from the Buddhism of this era. He blurted out subconsciously: "If you don't convert to Buddhism and don't worship Buddha, how can you practice? ! ! If you stay away from Buddha, how can you practice Buddhism?!"

"You are doing evil!!"

The Taoist asked, "Where is the Dharma?"

"Inside the temple, or on the clay figures?"

Jin Chan said: "In my heart, you can never forget it for even a moment!"

His voice paused.

It seems that the answer has been found.

The Taoist in front of him stretched out his finger, pointed at Jin Chan's heart, and said: "Buddhism is Buddha. Dharma is in your heart. Isn't Buddha also here? Wherever you are, there is Buddha. Therefore, in this six realms, Buddha can be seen everywhere."

"And where the heart is is only in this small space."

"In a small space."

“It is the Buddha’s kingdom!”

In this small space, there is the Buddha’s kingdom…

Jin Chan was stunned and dazed, feeling only a roar in his heart and his body trembling. He saw the Taoist sitting cross-legged here, infinitely high and infinitely wide. Suddenly he understood something and recalled what the Taoist had said before.

"Fangcun Mountain..."

Every square inch is the Buddha’s kingdom.

It was at the foot of Fangcun Mountain that the golden cicada saw me.

It is the golden cicada that sees the Buddha.
