Chapter 3: Jade is a rough jade, who is the carving knife

The Jade Emperor's words made the old Lord of Heaven tremble in his heart, and he subconsciously wanted to stop him - how could the great Jade Emperor come down to earth and leave the heaven so easily? Even though he didn't know the truth about the Jade Emperor's current situation, he felt that this move was extremely inappropriate.

So he hurriedly stepped forward and saluted, saying, "Great Heavenly Venerable, Great Heavenly Venerable, this is inappropriate."

"You are the ruler of the six realms, the Supreme Being of the Heavenly Court. If you move, the world will be shaken. You must be accompanied by millions of spirits and protected by the immortal ministers and generals. If you really come down to the mortal world so easily, wouldn't it be a violation of the rules? A loss of manners?"

"If so, I, the old minister, should come down to the mortal world in person on your behalf and explain this matter clearly."

After a lot of persuasion from the old Lord of Heaven, the Jade Emperor temporarily gave up the idea of coming down to earth in person. He wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, and then sent a message to the Great Master Yu Xuandu and Taiyi Jiuku Tianzun, and then went down to earth to look for Zhenwu, who did not come here to be conferred the title. Auspicious clouds flowed, and he first found Yuanjun, the Lord of the Earth.

After wandering around for a while, they finally found the ignorant and audacious Qi Wuhuo.

When the old Lord of Heaven saw the rude man who dared to refuse the Jade Emperor's appointment sitting on a stone and even flipping through a document, he couldn't help but feel angry. He was indignant at such a person, but he didn't know the merits of the Jade Emperor, so how could he dare to sit idle here.

But the old Lord finally suppressed his anger, and just laughed and said:

"Green mountains and clear waters, the mountains are high and the sky is far away, Taoist priest, I bow to you here."

The young Taoist priest raised his head and responded with a gentle greeting like a young man on earth. Then, noticing the pure aura of the old Lord in front of him, he asked, "Who is the old gentleman?"

"Immortal official?"

The old Lord smiled and replied, "That's right. I am the Lord of Heaven, the Immortal Official of the Heavenly Palace. I am bothering you now."

"I do have a question for you."

The usually gentle and tactful old Lord Tianjun's words today were sharp, showing his anger towards the person in front of him:

"Why didn't you go to heaven to receive your reward, sir?"

"If you don't want to go to heaven, why don't you refuse in advance?"

Qi Wuhuo raised his eyes and said, "Old sir, can you give me some time to refuse?"

The old Lord's tone faltered, and Qi Wuhuo said again: "Besides, the Heaven Court has appointed me, why should I go?"

The old Lord of Heaven was well-informed and well-mannered. He also knew what Qi Wuhuo was thinking from what he had seen in the Haotian Mirror when he asked the Jade Emperor. So he shook his head and said, "I know that the young layman has some misunderstandings about the Jade Emperor and the Heavenly Court because of the disasters in the human world, but I still have to say something -"

"How can you blame the heavens for the disaster on earth?"

"Haven't you heard that eight thousand years ago, it was the agreement between your clan's emperor and the Heaven Realm—"

"Heaven will never interfere in matters of the human world!"

The old Lord of Heaven looked at Qi Wuhuo and took a half step forward: "We, the Heavenly Soldiers and Heavenly Generals, are still thinking about the friendship with the human race and the agreement we made eight thousand years ago. Even though we are extremely anxious after seeing all the fights in the human world, we have no choice but to stay in the Heavenly Realm and cannot move lightly."

"Young lay Buddhists should know this."

"But you have indeed misunderstood me..."

The young Taoist put down the scroll in his hand, thought for a moment, and asked, "May I ask you, old sir?"

"The Four Imperial Gods, is it the heaven or the human world?"

The old Lord's expression paused slightly.

Qi Wuhuo continued to ask calmly:

"May I ask, Emperor Donghua, do you belong to the heaven or the human world?"

"May I ask, are the Four Hidden Star Lords from heaven or the human world?"

The old Lord of Heaven paused for a moment, knowing that Qi Wuhuo was questioning him - the Heaven would not interfere in human affairs. When the gods of Heaven were doing evil, they did not care about this. But when the gods of Heaven wanted to stop the gods under their command, they instead mentioned that the Heaven would not interfere in human affairs.

Although he didn't say any mocking words, the old Lord's expression was no longer as fierce as before.

Qi Wuhuo said:

"These are all I want to ask."

The old Lord hesitated for a long time, and finally sighed with a complicated tone: "But, this, this Heavenly Court has its own complicated situation."

"The Jade Emperor checks and balances all the gods and immortals."

"Although this huge heaven is magnificent, it also has its own difficulties."

"It's all for the greater good of the six realms."

The young Taoist put away Brother Xuanzhen's scroll, then stood up and said, "I know."

The old Lord was stunned: "Ah?"

"... Old sir, please follow me."

Qi Wuhuo walked forward, and although the old Heavenly Lord didn't know why, he followed him, riding on the clouds and mist. Looking from afar, he saw the vastness of the world and the boundlessness of all things. He couldn't help but feel refreshed. He saw human cities scattered among the green mountains and clear waters. When he looked down from the sky, he saw that these cities were far less luxurious than the palaces in Heaven, but he saw white flags moving.

Like clouds floating all over the city.

It does look a bit like a palace in heaven, with white auspicious clouds floating around, giving a sense of purity and grace.

The old Lord was surprised. Although he was still angry at Qi Wuhuo, he suppressed his anger, smiled and praised, and asked: "This scenery is really beautiful, and it feels a bit like heaven. Is there any festival in the human world today?"

Qi Wuhuo replied: "...These are funeral banners."

The old Lord’s smile paused.

Qi Wuhuo replied: "He died during the Gou Chen Rebellion."

"In the battle between the Demon King and the human world, 150,000 cavalrymen participated, including more than 300,000 auxiliary soldiers who were responsible for logistics. They killed many demons and many died in the battle. Jinzhou has now recovered, and some people have returned one after another. They hope that their relatives who died here can return to their hometown, so they hung up mourning banners to call back their souls, hoping that they can come back..."

"Of course, it's just a wish."

Jinzhou Rebellion

It is composed of Donghua and the four hidden stars.

Old Lord Tianjun saw from afar that every city, town, and village on the road to Jinzhou had white funeral banners hanging, fluttering in the wind. It looked as if the clouds in the sky had fallen to the earth. The scenery seemed beautiful, but Old Lord Tianjun could no longer appreciate it, and the polite smile on his face slowly faded.

Finally they came to Qi Wuhuo's residence.

In a small courtyard, three white spirit-calling banners were hung.

The old Lord's heart trembled slightly.

The young Taoist in front said, "Please follow me."

Here, under Jinzhou, a place like an underground palace was actually opened up by the means of the earth gods. Qi Wuhuo walked down slowly. The old Lord of Heaven was silent for a moment, and followed him down, walking step by step on the cold and gloomy steps. He saw a sudden light in front of him, but the cold air was heavier. The old Lord of Heaven's footsteps trembled, and he stopped where he was, unable to move forward.

Stone tablets, one after another huge stone tablets spread out like a forest below, each with a name engraved on it. The names of the victims of the Jinzhou Calamity, the Zhongzhou Calamity and the Gouchen Rebellion are here, engraved on the stone tablets, and recorded. At a glance, the number of deaths is almost innumerable, and no one knows how many people died.

Hundreds of thousands?

Hundreds of thousands...

Or millions?

Each stone tablet stood silently, with lights in front of it. People came here to look for the names of their relatives - this was the list determined by Qi Wuhuo with the help of Fengdu's ability. Some died in battle for their country, some died in disasters, and all those listed on it were dead, not missing.

Those who found the names of their relatives cried loudly, while those who did not find them were ecstatic, laughing and crying at the same time. The number of them was so large that it made the Heavenly Emperor tremble in his heart.

The old Lord wanted to say that it was the Human Emperor who was the thief and the demons who were causing chaos.

But then he remembered that Taixiao of the demon clan was dead, the great emperor Donghua was dead, and more than one million demon clan members died in this disaster.

The sword of the young Taoist in front of him was calm, and he cut through everything slowly but without hesitation.

The young Taoist said, "I know that the Jade Emperor has his own difficulties."

"Heaven has its reasons."

“Perhaps in your eyes.”

"The Heavenly Court has its reasons for doing this, but..."

He stepped sideways and looked towards the old Lord of Heaven. Behind him were stone tablets with the names of over a million people written on them. Lights were lit one by one in this cold and gloomy place. There were sounds of howling, laughing, shouting and crying. Compared with the grandeur of the heaven, it seemed like a dirty and muddy purgatory.

Qi Wuhuo said: "I have some too."

The old Lord's throat rose and fell, and he said:

"...The Heavenly Court named you Zhenwu, precisely because they hoped to solve these problems."

"Thank you for your kindness. I thank the Jade Emperor for his favor."

"I don't think there is anything I can do after entering a heaven that always emphasizes the overall situation."

"Besides."

Qi Wuhuo stood beside the old Lord, looked at him, and said softly: "If you can seal it, you can take it away."

"If you are a cultivator seeking the truth, the word truth, if you seek it, you will find it yourself."

"Why do we need others to seal it?"

"I haven't finished carving this stone tablet yet, old Lord, please go back..."

The old Lord was staring at the countless stone tablets in front of him in a daze. There were children of only thirteen or fourteen crying at the stone tablets, while there were also children less than ten years old who stood there stupidly, no longer knowing what their parents looked like and unable to cry. An old man with white hair and tattered clothes, like a beggar, suddenly started crying and wailing when he found all the names of his relatives. He burst into tears and bumped into the edges of the stone tablets.

But the young Taoist suddenly pressed his finger on an acupuncture point, and a breath of air calmed the old man's mind.

He gently held the white-haired old man with tightly closed eyes and walked past the old Heavenly Lord with jade crown and brocade robe, who had white hair and a youthful face.

His brows were calm and cold, and he did not even glance at the powerful old Lord.
