Chapter 176 The devil has no tricks?

The other side.

The city of Fustat.

The sun was high in the sky, causing heat to rise from this city built in the desert next to a huge sand dune.

At the gate of Fustat, Hebrew soldiers were checking everyone entering and leaving the city.

One of their hands always holds the handle of the knife, so they can strike immediately if they sense danger.

"stop!"

At this time, a soldier stopped a farmer carrying a sack and frightened him.

"Where are you from? What are you doing in town?"

The farmer was obviously frightened by the scene and stammered, "Sir! I... I came from a village in the south. I, I want to go to the city to sell some food!"

The farmer's voice was trembling, and he dared not move.

The Hebrew soldier looked him up and down, then reached over and opened the sack, carefully examining the contents.

Then, he grabbed a handful from it.

After confirming that there was no problem, the Hebrew soldier waved his hand and said, "Go in, and don't cause trouble in the city."

The farmer nodded repeatedly, then quickly walked into the city gate.

As soon as his back disappeared around the corner of the street, another Hebrew soldier whispered to his companion: "We have been so busy these past few days that we haven't even had a chance to rest."

"yes."

His companion sighed, "I heard that there are demons infiltrating the city. Even the city lord has personally ordered to intensify the inspection."

Another soldier frowned and said, "Demon? Is that true? Where did you hear that? No one in our army knows about this."

His companion just shrugged: "Who knows."

"Anyway, let's just do what the higher-ups say."

At the same time, on the streets of the city, soldiers were questioning people who had recently entered the city.

A soldier stopped a man in a gray cloak and said, "You! Look up!"

The man slowly raised his head, revealing a pale and tired face.

The soldier stared into his eyes with a look that almost touched his soul.

"Where are you from? What are you doing in the city?" the soldier asked.

The man replied in a low voice: "Sir, I come from the village in the east."

"I, I just went to the city to find some work."

The Hebrew soldier frowned, obviously not satisfied with this answer.

He reached up and lifted the man's cloak, examining it carefully, but found nothing except some lining that was covered in sand and sweat.

The Hebrew soldier just waved his hand and said, "Let's go."

The man nodded and walked away quickly.

As soon as his back disappeared into the crowd, another Hebrew soldier whispered to his companion: "This guy looks a little suspicious."

His companion smiled: "Suspicious?"

"Have you been too nervous lately?"

The soldier shook his head and made no answer.

His eyes still wandered the streets, continuing to search.

Just then, a noise came from a distance.

The soldiers looked in the direction of the sound and saw a group of Hebrew soldiers escorting several civilians towards them.

"What's going on?" asked a soldier.

The Hebrew soldier replied coldly: "These men have had contact with demons."

"We're taking them in for questioning."

The Hebrew soldiers looked at each other, obviously surprised by the news.

Someone actually had contact with the devil?

"Are you sure?" a soldier asked.

The Hebrew soldier nodded: "Of course I am sure."

"Can't you see?"

The Hebrew soldiers took a look at the people being escorted and found that they had thin faces and sad expressions.

It's like losing something important.

So the Hebrew soldiers said nothing more and just silently made way.

The Hebrew soldiers escorted those men and walked quickly to the interrogation room in the center of the city.

The people who were brought here sat on chairs, their faces were pale, their eyes were empty, and there were even traces of tears in the corners of their eyes.

However, those traces of tears had nothing to do with their being escorted.

All they thought about was the beautiful, gentle, lovely and pure lady from Jerusalem.

Witch.

And in front of those soldiers stood a little girl.

"Do you remember her?"

At this time, the little girl asked softly, her eyes showing a hint of pity.

Hearing the little girl's words, the Hebrew soldiers raised their heads and their emotions began to fluctuate.

"Remember, remember!"

"She, she is a very beautiful woman, an angel, an angel!"

"I should have just proposed to her... I live with regret every day, like a zombie."

The little girl shook her head, with more pity in her eyes.

She knew that these people had been bewitched by the devil's witchcraft and had completely lost their minds.

The little girl released her divine power to purify the other person, and continued, "She is not what you think."

"She is a demon, a demon who has blinded your eyes."

Those people were stunned. They blinked their eyes, and their expressions gradually became clear.

"I, how could we?"

"She's a demon!"

"We have been bewitched by a demon!"

They began to mutter to themselves, their voices filled with regret and pain.

The little girl didn't say anything else, but just raised her hand and released a soft light, covering those people.
