Chapter 3 In blood and fire, I am crowned king!

Lin Ke got off the carriage, and wherever he looked, he saw only debris and scattered flames.

In his impression, the Egyptian palace should be a majestic and magnificent temple, but now it is filled with thick smoke and broken rubble.

The palace was destroyed!

The road leading to the palace was originally a must-go place for festivals and welcoming the emperor. It should have been crowded with cheering people, with flower petals blooming all over the ground and people chanting poetic hymns.

But the road was deserted, with only a few trembling servants on both sides of the carriage, who lowered their heads and guarded him carefully.

Behind him, Nan Tong frowned, looking particularly anxious.

"Why is this place so desolate?"

Lin Ke looked at the row of collapsed colonnades on the roadside. There were large pools of blood on the cracked stones, and an ominous premonition arose in his heart.

"Prince, the Hebrew army has invaded Egypt. Many people here have fled, and some..."

He paused, but ultimately could not utter the words "maybe he has died in the war."

"Not only the Hebrews, but there are also several forces running around in Egypt. They all know that after the fall of the gods, Egypt's power is no longer as strong as before."

Lin Ke did not expect that the Hebrew attack would be so fierce that it had even approached the palace.

Lin Ke immediately realized that he had to speed up his actions. If he could not be crowned successfully, he would not be able to figure out what the "journey" that the voice in his mind was talking about was.

In addition, he thought of something very important.

His father died, and his mother also passed away, and the second son was his younger brother.

His brother should have succeeded to the throne at such a critical moment and maintained the people's faith, but it was obvious from the tragic scenes around him that everything had completely gotten out of control.

Just as he was thinking, Lin Ke saw flames rising from the street ahead. There, a large number of soldiers were fighting fiercely with magicians dressed in strange costumes.

Master Heka was among them.

Heka means "magic".

The Heka Masters hold a crocodile eggshell in their left hand and a torch in their right hand, and when the two are combined they can perform magic.

The Hebrew magicians held two stones in their hands to manipulate the power of fire. They transformed the flames into long and narrow whips that exploded in the air with loud crackling sounds.

An Egyptian garrison watchtower had collapsed, with broken stones scattered on the ground and a fire burning around it that was difficult to extinguish.

"It seems that even the palace can't be defended."

Lin Ke's heart skipped a beat.

My brother can't die!

If the younger brother died, the tradition of "one prince dies by grace and another prince inherits the throne" that has lasted for hundreds of years would be broken.

Breaking tradition is nothing to Lin Ke, but God knows how many chain reactions it will cause.

You know, this is a world where tradition and faith are supreme.

The subjects of the kingdom have not received nine years of compulsory education. If the younger brother dies, the panicked subjects may still stubbornly believe that at least one person needs to go to the underworld, then it will be over!

After all, in the minds of these people, royal power is granted by God.

As long as there is a god, who cares who is the king?

Right now, it is impossible to pass through the main gate of the palace, as that is where the fighting between the two sides is the worst.

Fortunately, Lin Ke knew another way, which he discovered when he was playing hide-and-seek with his younger brother when they were children. They often sneaked out of the palace through that passage.

So Lin Ke quickened his pace and headed towards the alley on the east side of the palace.

As soon as he stepped into the dilapidated stone archway, he heard a hurried sound of footsteps. He approached the source of the sound cautiously and found several servants surrounding a young man.

The man looked to be about twenty years old, dressed in gorgeous clothes, but in a very disheveled state. There were tears in his eyes and his cheeks were dirty. It was obvious that he had been here for a long time.

That was his younger brother, the second prince.

"Elder brother?" The moment the young man saw Lin Ke, his eyes widened with surprise and disbelief.

But then his expression twisted again, like fear, and also like pain: "Brother, I am dying. A death that cannot receive the gift will not have peace. Brother, I cannot give the gift. Brother, I, brother..."

The second prince was obviously too flustered to wonder why his eldest brother was still here.

"You've done very well, brother." Lin Ke walked closer, reached out and gently stroked his brother's shoulder, and found that his brother's body was still trembling slightly, "I'm here to tell you that I don't want to be a mummy anymore."

It is true that the second prince has been weak in temperament since childhood and does not possess the courage of a leader.

But so what? If he died here, it would be the saddest ending for Egypt.

Of the two brothers, one must become king, and the other must go to "Benefit".

Otherwise, if the royal bloodline is cut off, the people's faith will collapse directly, and the Hebrews will inevitably annex this place without any hindrance.

"What...what?" The second prince raised his head and looked into Lin Ke's eyes in disbelief: "By the way! Brother, you are not..."

Lin Ke interrupted him, her face solemn. "No time to say more, you go and accept the gift, my brother, and I will take over the authority of the desert and the Nile, be crowned king, and become the eighteenth Pharaoh."

"I..." The second prince was speechless for a moment. He just opened his eyes wide and forgot to let his tears flow.

For the second prince, taking on the heavy responsibility of the throne is almost an innate destiny.
