Chapter 333 Burnt Papyrus

Kamul walked in from the palace gate.

In his hands he held a half-burned sheaf of papyrus.

Moreover, he didn't look very well.

His brows were furrowed, and even his steps seemed a little hurried.

This old minister usually pays close attention to his walking posture. He is very concerned about whether he will behave inappropriately in front of Lin Ke.

But today, he looked like he was worried about something, even his breathing was disordered.

Lin Ke looked at the papyrus in his hand, then looked at his face, raised her hand slightly, and motioned him to come forward and talk.

Kamul walked up to Lin Ke and bowed.

Then, he swallowed his saliva and took a deep breath before speaking: "Your Majesty, Holy Pharaoh, I have something to report to you."

Lin Ke nodded and looked at Kamul's face.

The other person's eye bags seemed to sag a little more.

Lin Ke knew that Kamul had been holding a grudge ever since the last assassination incident.

He had heard this from Remheb.

What made Kamul angry was that the reputation of His Majesty the Holy Pharaoh was tarnished by these traitors.

In his opinion, it was His Majesty the Holy Pharaoh who worked hard to develop Holy Egypt to its present state.

The trade routes are open and the miracles are dazzling.

The people are happy and there is peace.

Even foreigners would exclaim in amazement when they see it.

But these guys dare to shout "There is only Egypt, there is no Holy Egypt".

Moreover, accusing His Majesty the Holy Pharaoh of being a usurper was, for Kamul, a blasphemy against his own great faith.

As the prime minister, he had followed Lin Ke for many years and witnessed the transformation of Holy Egypt from a barren desert into a prosperous city.

How could Kamul tolerate such blasphemy?

Kamul even couldn't sleep at night. He was more worried that this undercurrent would destroy the foundation of Holy Egypt.

Lin Ke knew his recent physical condition and just said slowly: "Kamul, you are the prime minister of a country."

"You can't let your anger control you and affect your body."

Kamul bowed again and said, "Yes, Your Majesty the Holy Pharaoh."

"Your Majesty, I will take good care of myself and help the great Pharaoh of Holy Egypt solve his problems."

"I'm sorry to have worried you!"

Kamul said this and bowed again.

Then he steadied himself, picked up the papyrus in his hand and began to report.

"Your Majesty, Saint Pharaoh, since the last incident, I have been secretly investigating this matter."

"I sent out all my trusted confidants who I confirmed I could trust. It took quite some time."

"The old officials screened them one by one to make sure they were not lured by those traitors."

“So, I picked out a dozen of the most reliable people and sent them to the places where the young people of Saint Egypt often hang out.”

"They pretended to be vendors during the day and ordinary people visiting relatives at night, and observed various places in the city for several days."

"As a result, last night, one of the old minister's confidants sent back the news."

"He said that he found several young people gathered in an old house in the east of the city near the Nile River."

"It was close to midnight. They were acting strangely, sitting around a fire, and seemed to be mumbling something."

"Also, they were holding a stack of papyrus in their hands, as if they were passing something around."

Kamul paused at this moment, he subconsciously turned his head and looked around, then he realized that this was the palace of Holy Egypt.

Then, he patted his head and said, "This old minister is confused. Please punish me, Your Majesty the Holy Pharaoh."

Lin Ke didn't care at all. She just raised her hand slightly, motioning him to continue.

"I raised my confidant since he was a child. He is one of my most capable men."

"He hid in the reeds outside the mud house and observed for half the night. He also found that these young people were very alert."

"Every now and then they would check if there were any patrolling soldiers nearby, and only proceed after confirming that there were any."

"According to him, those people were sitting around the fire, discussing something in low voices, as if they were arguing or swearing."

"He also said that one guy stood up, danced and shouted a few times, and he seemed to be the leader."

"Just then, they heard the footsteps of patrolling guards in the distance and immediately started to clean up."

"One of the guys kicked the fire apart, another grabbed some papyrus and stuffed it into the fire, and then they all ran away and disappeared into the alley in the blink of an eye."

"He didn't dare to chase, for fear of alerting the enemy."

"So he just ended up running over to put out the fire and scrambling to grab these half-burned papyri from the ashes."

"That's all, Holy Pharaoh."

Kamul handed the tattered papyrus to Lin Ke, his fingers even trembling slightly: "Your Majesty the Holy Pharaoh, please take a look."

Lin Ke took the papyrus. He originally thought that it contained some treasonous words.

But when he looked down, he found that the handwriting on it was already very broken and he could only barely make out a few words.

Moreover, it was not a text that insulted him.

Lin Ke narrowed his eyes slightly and read carefully: "The pious should not bow to anyone."

"We have chosen him."

“This is our true…”

These sentences were intermittent, like slogans or oaths.

Moreover, there seems to be a more ambiguous and even more terrifying sentence: "The god Ra... betrayed..."

This would be a heinous crime for any holy Egyptian of faith.

But the words on it were burned so that the entire picture could not be seen clearly.

Lin Ke clenched the papyrus between his fingers, his mind racing.

These words are in the same tone as what the assassin said before, "There is only Egypt, but no Holy Egypt." It is obvious that they are from the same group.

But what does it mean to “choose him”?

Who is "he"?

Obviously, this person's status, in their opinion, is higher than their own.

Kamul stood aside. When Lin Ke finished reading, he slowly spoke: "Your Majesty the Holy Pharaoh, it seems that your previous inference was correct. Someone is behind this."

"These young people have indeed been brainwashed. I guess someone is deliberately instigating them to make Holy Egypt restless."

Kamul frowned, his tone filled with anger: "It's a pity that the person was not caught, otherwise I would have to ask clearly."

"The words on this papyrus are enough to explain the problem."

"They have turned their backs on the glory of Holy Egypt!"

"Their souls should be judged by the ancient god Anubis."

Lin nodded, tapped the papyrus with his fingers, and his voice remained calm: "Yes, now it is certain that there is a mastermind behind them."

Kamul nodded, and just as he was about to speak, a guard rushed in.

"Your Majesty the Holy Pharaoh!"

"The Hebrew Empire returned our two cities!"
