Chapter 843 Bloody Land

Elisha didn't know how much time had passed.

Until in the distance, the screams of people gradually faded away, and the frequency of those noisy sounds gradually decreased.

He controlled his breathing and took in the scene before him.

To be precise, it was peeping.

The room was in a state of disrecognition, with furniture toppled over, carpets torn, and wall decorations swept to the floor.

What frightened him the most was that he could touch the dark red liquid with just his hand.

That's blood.

And it's not just one person's blood.

"Brother David..."

Elisha bit the skin on the back of his hand, he didn't know what to do now.

The person who could protect him disappeared.

Now, he was alone again.

"God, if you can hear my prayer, please..."

Elisha trembled, closed his eyes and began to pray softly.

At this moment, Elisha remembered what the other man said.

......

"Elisha."

"Your faith cannot protect you."

"But you can do it just like you brought the doe back."

"You can change the doe's fate by yourself and your will."

"Just like now, change the fate of these sheep."

......

"Your Majesty the Holy Pharaoh..."

Elisha's prayers stopped.

He looked at the pool of blood and took a deep breath.

He wants to escape from here!

He crept out of the shadows, holding his breath, and looked around.

There's no one here anymore.

At least, no living people.

He stood up, but his trembling legs almost made him lose his balance and fall to the ground.

Just then, Elisha heard a voice in the distance.

The sounds seemed to be moving.

"...You people of the Hebrew Empire didn't expect this day to come, did you?"

A familiar voice came from the burly man who had caught David before.

Elisha remembered his voice.

"The lackeys of the Hebrew Empire are always like this, high and mighty!"

But the voice that appeared later was a little different, and this person's voice had a Hebrew accent of a frontier city.

"You treat us border residents like livestock!"

The man continued, his voice filled with deep hatred.

"Seven of my brothers were beaten to death and hanged by Imperial patrols, just because they stole a few bags of grain!"

"And that food was taken away by the imperial patrols!"

"Those were originally our food!"

Another voice then said: "Justice has finally arrived!"

"Now, let us make them feel the same pain we once endured..."

The noisy voices began to fade away, and Elisha could no longer hear their words.

However, those people's words made Elisha feel sick, and he couldn't imagine what would happen next.

For a moment, he thought about rushing out and looking for an opportunity to save David, but his reason told him that this was just suicide.

He was just a teenager, only half the size of the others.

He has no divine calculations.

Elisha once again remembered the words of His Majesty the Holy Pharaoh. He clenched his fists and his heart was pounding.

He must survive first!

Perhaps he could find reinforcements, and Elisha could bring them to Hebron and rescue David.

Elisha immediately decided on his next plan, so he began to tiptoe past several corpses. Then, holding his breath, he stuck his head out from the smashed door.

Just as he imagined, there was no one here.

It is so quiet here that you can even hear the footsteps of mice running by.

“Hebron is ours now!”

"Victory! Victory!"

"Let's go to the other side of Hebron. I heard there are many beautiful women there..."

Elisha arrived at the main gate and heard several men shouting loudly in the alley in the distance, and then disappeared into the darkness.

There were no unusual sounds nearby, only the occasional sound of swords repeatedly hacking at flesh in the distance.

It was a mixture of dull thuds and splashing liquid, which reminded Elisha of butchers slaughtering cattle and sheep.

He involuntarily took a few steps back and hid in the corner again, gasping for breath.

He had to wait a little longer until the frequency of those strange sounds decreased, or even disappeared completely.

Even he himself didn't know how long he had been waiting.

It could be an hour, or it could be a full half day.

Time was distorted in his cognition, and every minute and every second was torture.

But the sky was still dark, and there was no sign of light coming.

However, the noise outside gradually weakened, from noisy to sporadic, and finally only deathly silence remained.

Silence perhaps means safety.

But Elisha was not sure. Whenever he thought about going out through the gate, his legs began to tremble uncontrollably.

Elisha could only force himself to calm down and start thinking about what to do next.

The first priority is to escape!

Then, it's about surviving.

That requires some weapons and dry food. The weapons can ensure that he will not be killed when facing some wild beasts, and the dry food can keep him going until he finds reinforcements.

He stepped out cautiously, making sure the street was empty.
