Chapter 353 Testing

Chapter 353 Testing

After the exchange at the technical seminar, Jemin and Rex exchanged a knowing glance.

They didn't immediately recognize each other, but when the event ended, they naturally exchanged personal contact codes like any other tech enthusiasts.

A few days later, Jemin received a text message from Rex on his communicator, inviting him to his residence to "discuss technical issues in depth."

"This guy used to say I was crazy, but when he gets into gambling, he's even crazier than me."

Looking at the text on the communicator, Jemin took a deep breath, appearing somewhat nervous.

After easing his tension, Jemin looked up at the luxurious villa in front of him.

This is Rex's residence, located in an upscale community on the outskirts of the capital city of Anvil Star.

It is a luxury house with a private courtyard and a simple yet stylish exterior.

Following the directions, Jemin entered. The interior space was spacious, but the furnishings were unusually simple, even somewhat cold and austere.

“Welcome, Jemin.” Rex stood in the center of the living room.

He had taken off his work clothes and changed into comfortable casual clothes, but he still had those glasses perched on his nose.

But something in his eyes was different; it was a suppressed excitement and sharpness.

“Rex, long time no see.” Jemin nodded, his gaze sweeping across the corner of the room, where he could vaguely sense some faint energy field fluctuations.

That wasn't supernatural energy, but rather the result of technology based on this world, used to shield devices from conventional surveillance and signal detection.

Clearly, this is a meticulously constructed safe house.

Without much small talk, the two sat down at a table covered with a metal panel and got straight to the point.

"How did you wake up?" Jemin asked first.

Rex pushed up his glasses, a hint of relief flashing in his eyes: "Thanks to it." He pointed to his temple, "The 'Weaver' nanocomputer chip I implanted in myself. This thing... isn't suppressed by this godforsaken place."

After his explanation, Jemin finally understood that the AI chip called "Weaver" was Rex's masterpiece of mechanics.

The moment Rex was trapped in this world, the "Weaver" detected huge anomalies in environmental parameters and conflicts in memory logic, and began to issue continuous alarms deep within his clouded consciousness.

This alarm is like a constant background noise, worn down over many years.

Five years ago, the dam of false memories finally crumbled like water dripping on a stone, restoring his clarity of mind.

"You can still use your supernatural powers?!" Jemin was shocked upon hearing this.

He subconsciously looked inward at his dantian, but the Five Elements Rainbow Mirror and the Xuan Gang Red Dust Barrier surrounding him remained as still as lifeless objects, without any reaction.

Why can Rex's smart brain chip do that?

“I’ve been studying the ‘rules’ of this world for years,” Rex said, seemingly noticing his confusion. “I’ve discovered a key point: as long as something’s manufacturing process and final form can be understood and reproduced by the current level of technology in this world—that is, theoretically, given blueprints and materials, the factories or laboratories in this world can build it—then it can function normally here, unaffected by ‘extraordinary rejection’.”

He paused, then emphasized, "My 'Weaver' chip, although it was precisely manufactured and bound using the power of wizards, its core architecture, computational logic, and even the manufacturing principles of most of its nanoscale components can be understood and partially implemented in the world's top laboratories. Therefore, it is recognized by the 'rules'."

"Recognized by the rules..."

Jemin was struck dumb, and froze on the spot.

He suddenly realized, this is what happens when you're in the darkest place!

Because he came from a purely technological world, and after transmigrating, he experienced two extraordinary systems: cultivation and wizardry.

Therefore, when faced with such situations, Jemin subconsciously pits "technology" against "supernatural" and believes that the world's suppression is aimed at all "supernatural powers".

But in reality, the foundation of wizarding civilization is knowledge!

Countless systems of witchcraft, alchemy, and runes are based on a profound understanding and application of the rules of the universe.

A large portion of this knowledge can be reproduced in different forms through purely technical means!

Rex's chip exploited this loophole—it is essentially a condensation of "pure mechanical knowledge," and its existence conforms to the "physical rules" of this plane.

“I think… I’ve overlooked something else because of the same blind spot in my thinking…” Jemin suddenly fell into thought.

A vague intuition told him that this principle of "rule approval" might point to a more crucial truth that he had been ignoring.

But that inspiration was fleeting and couldn't be grasped for the time being.

However, Jemin didn't dwell on this for long and quickly began exchanging information with Rex.

Both sides were already aware of some basic intelligence, but Rex added a point that Jamin had not discovered:

"In this plane, intelligent beings who die unexpectedly are reborn after their memories are erased; however, it seems that intelligent beings who die of natural causes do not revive..."

Rex is an orphan here, and he comes into contact with more people and encounters more special cases: "However, the number of samples he has come into contact with is too small, and it is not yet certain whether this is widespread or a special case."

“I see…” Jemin hadn’t noticed that at all.

He also told Rex about some of the problems he had discovered, including confirming that the means of control were not illusions or mind control, but some kind of special power, as well as information about the unusually large and realistic worldview of this world.

After the conversation ended, the two fell into a brief silence.

They possess more fragments than any single individual could, but the puzzle remains incomplete. The most crucial core—the true identity of the mastermind, their specific objectives, and how to break free from the cage—remains shrouded in mystery.

After waiting for a moment, Jemin suddenly let out a long sigh of relief, leaned back in his chair, and gave a self-deprecating smile: "It seems that the person behind the scenes... or that thing, doesn't care much about us two slightly more active ants."

Rex nodded, his eyes behind his glasses flashing with a calm, analytical light: "Ever since I discovered that intelligent beings in this world can be reborn, I've speculated that the entity behind this plane is probably quite 'benevolent,' and now this idea has been proven true."

Indeed, both of them knew from the beginning that this meeting was extremely risky.

Rex's room can block regular surveillance, but both Jemin and Rex know that this blocking is completely useless against the entity behind the scenes.

This meeting between the two sides was actually a test, a probe into the attitude of those behind the scenes towards awakened individuals like them.

That's why Jemin hesitated before meeting him.

Although no intelligent beings had been observed to be able to regenerate before, Jemin made the same speculation as Rex.

After all, he could tell from his fake parents and old friends that the mastermind behind it all wasn't after murder, which is why he decided to take a gamble today.

Judging from the results of their tests, they both guessed correctly.
