Chapter 49 Vacuum Area
In stark contrast to Augusta's thunderous performance was Horn.
This genius with level eight talent displayed breathtaking defense and counterattack capabilities. He was like an unshakable mountain, standing firm and guarding every inch of land he chose.
"Hold on, they're coming!"
Wherever the team he led went, they would use the surrounding earth elements for their own benefit.
The thick rock shields can withstand the charge of heavy cavalry, and the stone pillars rising from the ground can break up the indigenous formations.
Horn himself was like a moving fortress, with a huge rock fist in his hand, which he used to smash a group of knights who tried to get close to him into pieces, including their armor.
The Aboriginals had tried to lure him into an underground cave using a trap and then detonate the rock formation to bury him alive.
However, Horn simply stomped his feet to force the earth elements surging underground to calm down, stabilized the cave structure with the earth element shield, and even used the underground tremors to shock the indigenous ambushers.
Then, he calmly counterattacked with a powerful leyline shockwave, swinging his massive fist of rock, crushing them all.
Augusta and Horn, like two sharp blades, cut the defense line of the Aboriginal coalition again and again.
Their achievements spread quickly among the apprentices like legends, and every report of a "Jedi counterattack" boosted the morale of the other apprentices.
Gradually, the communication device no longer carried desperate calls for help, but the latest news about Augusta and Horn breaking through the siege.
"Miss Augusta has broken through another indigenous blockade! She's too strong to be an apprentice!"
"Master Horn and his troops defeated a group of indigenous knights head-on! Those knights couldn't shake him at all!"
"With them here, these natives are nothing!"
Unconsciously, the wizard apprentices' fear of the indigenous people quietly transformed into a strange "excitement".
They no longer viewed the indigenous people as enemies that could threaten their lives, but rather as a huge "target" that could test their strength and earn them merit.
They began to compare the records of Augusta and Horn with relish, guessing which genius would eventually come out on top in this "test" and become the ultimate winner of this trial.
…
…
Limestone boundary.
In the secret camp of the Aboriginal coalition, in the huge tent, the atmosphere was depressing yet with a hint of excitement of strategizing.
The animal skin map marked the whereabouts of the wizard apprentices and the locations of traps set by the natives.
"Progress is going smoothly," a young Knight Commander said in a low voice, his finger tracing over several areas marked "clear" on the map. "Those outsiders are more easily ensnared than we imagined. They're overconfident in their strength and underestimate us."
"The spatial blockade barrier has begun to take effect, cutting off their escape route." Priest Osvaldo's voice was uncharacteristically calm. "Once dragged into the battlefield we've set, their sorcery will become expendable."
The other leaders nodded.
Through the intelligence they continuously sent back, they accurately grasped the movements and power consumption of the wizard apprentices.
Those apprentices who survived the initial ambush were like lambs driven into a pre-set slaughterhouse, gradually heading towards despair.
The high-level magic weapons that the wizard apprentices were proud of were quickly depleted in the continuous battles, the potion reserves were sharply reduced, and the mental strength could no longer support the high-intensity confrontation for a long time.
They are like a fire with insufficient fuel, seemingly burning brightly but in reality slowly and inevitably dying out.
Especially those apprentices who had shined in recent battles—Augusta's Thunder Storm, Horn's Rock Fortress, and some other up-and-coming "geniuses".
Their strength made the Aboriginal coalition pay a higher price, but it also allowed them to obtain extremely accurate intelligence.
"The one who specializes in lightning attacks...Augusta." A shaman pronounced the name in a dry voice, a hint of fear in his eyes. "Her lightning can destroy our totem formation. Her speed is too fast, making it difficult for our warriors to capture her."
"Horn, who can move the earth, is also troublesome. His defense is too strong. The physical attack methods we prepared are not very effective. We must use more advanced magic to break his defense." Another knight leader added.
"These guys have to be taken into consideration..."
On the animal skin map, various points are marked with special symbols. In addition to Augusta and Horn, there are also some geniuses who have gradually become famous on the battlefield in recent times.
These symbols mark the activity areas and fighting methods of these geniuses.
They didn't take those ordinary apprentices who were easily killed before seriously at all. Only by killing these most dazzling geniuses could they really hurt the muscles and bones of those "wizards". This was the real "revenge"!
However, in this clear ocean of intelligence, there is only one area without any specific intelligence.
In the northwest corner of the map, an area originally marked as "multiple ambushes have been arranged and high-level monsters are entrenched", the recent intelligence feedback has been strangely interrupted.
It was like a black hole, swallowing up all prying eyes.
Something was wrong with this area, which naturally caused controversy among these indigenous leaders.
"The scout team sent to that area... has lost contact."
"None of the assassination team has returned. We clearly instructed them to split into two groups, one open and one covert, to conduct the investigation."
"We dispatched three vanguard battalions, including thirty elite knights and two mid-level shamans... but all of them have lost contact! No distress signals have been sent!"
In the conference room, the atmosphere of control over the overall situation was broken, replaced by a sense of uneasiness and irritability.
"This is practically impossible. According to our arrangements, it's impossible for no intelligence to be transmitted back. Even if we encounter the strongest group of magical beasts, or are defeated by those two geniuses, at least someone will escape and report back!"
A young knight frowned. He was in charge of intelligence gathering and felt creeped by the complete silence.
"Based on the current situation, the traces of battle in that area are... very unusual. This isn't the usual demonic strife, nor is it the usual sorcerous destruction by wizard apprentices. The entire area has been reduced to a completely scorched earth, as if it had been ploughed through by endless flames. Even the remains of the monsters and our troops have been reduced to ash, making them unrecognizable."
