Chapter 440 Invitation and Guests
Purgatory Sulfur Plane, the sixth energy convergence point.
This is a huge basin located deep in the Crimson Mountains, with dark golden lava rivers flowing on the surface, and the air filled with a high concentration of sulfur and a faint but active spiritual energy.
In the center of the basin, a complex magic array with a diameter of over three kilometers is being constructed.
Jemin hovered in mid-air, his black robe motionless in the heatwave.
He pressed his hands together, and dozens of semi-transparent control screens unfolded in front of him, each displaying the real-time parameters of different areas of the magic array.
Below, more than three hundred black giant priests are working in an orderly manner.
They either carry giant metal components inscribed with runes, carefully calibrate energy-conducting crystal clusters, or etch intricate patterns into bedrock with their liquid metal-like fingertips.
"At the seventh node, the rate of spirit injection is reduced by three percent, and the phase difference with the elemental flow is maintained within 0.05 radians."
"The ninth transmission arm and the third rune group need to be readjusted; the energy loss is exceeding the limit."
Jemin’s voice calmly traveled through the mental link to the consciousness of each priest.
This is one of the key components of the Incense and Sacred Way inter-space energy transmission module. Once completed, it will become a stable energy channel linking the Purgatory Sulfur Plane with the external battlefield, and its failure is unacceptable.
Both Jemin and the Black Giant priests below were used to it, after all, similar projects had been repeated for more than sixty years.
For wizards, this is just a relatively short period in the long river of research.
But Jemin could sense that as the incense and deity system gradually improved, his understanding of the laws of spiritual energy was also deepening.
Just then, a slightly slender black giant priest, whose body shone with a brighter liquid metallic luster, flew swiftly from the edge of the basin, carrying a magic network terminal.
It hovered beside Jemin and respectfully handed over the terminal.
"Master, this is information with priority markings."
Jemin glanced at the terminal screen, his hand pausing slightly.
It was an invitation.
The background is a deep starry sky, with a slowly rotating silver star phantom suspended in the center—the unique emblem of the Starfall Wizard.
The invitation was concise and elegant, formally worded, and clearly conveyed its core message: We cordially invite Wizard Jemin to travel to the "Land of Fallen Stars" plane five years from now to attend the celebration ceremony for the Fallen Star Wizards.
"The Fallen Star Wizard..."
Jemin murmured the name, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes.
He remembered clearly that before he left her position, the Starfall Wizard had privately told him that she felt she had found the path to advancing to level seven, and therefore decided to close the plane and prepare diligently.
Her tone at that time was expectant, but also cautious.
Advancing to the seventh level is a crucial leap on the path of a wizard, involving the expansion and deepening of the laws, and is by no means an easy task.
But now, less than two hundred years have passed since then.
"This celebration... she's already preparing for her promotion so quickly?"
A hint of doubt arose in Jemin's mind.
This speed is abnormally fast.
The advancement to the seventh level of wizardry, especially in abstract and mysterious fields such as "spiritual laws," often requires a long period of time for accumulation, verification, and adjustment.
It's common to spend thousands of years preparing, but two hundred years... is more like a crucial breakthrough point than a moment of perfect success.
Just as he was pondering, the screen of the magic network terminal flashed, and another message popped up.
This is a transmission request.
Applicant: Viola.
Upon seeing the name, Jemin barely hesitated before tapping the "Confirm" button.
At the same time, he gave instructions to the black giant priests around him: "Continue the installation of nodes seven through twelfth according to the existing parameters, and synchronize the data to the central control console in real time. I have to go back to the laboratory."
“Yes, Master.” The head priest bowed in response.
With a flash, Jemin disappeared from the basin.
The next moment, he appeared inside the core laboratory.
As soon as he stepped out of the teleportation array's glowing halo, he saw that familiar figure.
Viola was sitting in the obsidian chair in the center of the laboratory.
Unlike her usual elegant and composed demeanor, as if she had everything under control, she was now leaning slightly forward, her fingers unconsciously tapping the armrest, her eyes showing a rare hint of anxiety.
Upon seeing Jemin appear, Viola immediately looked up and forced a smile, but the smile looked somewhat stiff.
"Senior, what's going on?" Jemin asked directly, walking to the control panel and activating the lab's silencing and isolation barrier.
"You should have received the invitation by now, right?" Viola skipped the pleasantries and got straight to the point.
“Just received it. An invitation to the Starfall Wizard's celebration.” Jemin nodded, sat down in another chair, and stared intently at Viola. “The way you're acting… could it be that the invitation is fake?”
Viola took a deep breath, sat up straight, and her expression turned serious: "The invitation itself is genuine. However, it was automatically sent by Starfall's terminal after a certain time, and now... there's a problem."
She paused, as if organizing her thoughts, and then slowly said, "Do you remember why Xingzhui thought she had found the path to level seven?"
Jemin's thoughts raced, his memory quickly returning to that meeting.
At the time, the Starfall Wizard's research had reached a bottleneck, and the "imaginary element" that Jemin demonstrated—that is, spiritual energy—which could generate out of thin air, nourish all things, and even give birth to the rudiments of consciousness, gave her a key inspiration.
“She believed that my imaginary elements… could help her advance further in her spiritual laws.” Jemin recalled, his brows furrowing slightly. “I remember her plan at the time was… to ‘activate’ a resource plane that she completely controlled?”
At this point, Jemin immediately understood.
He turned sharply to Viola, his eyes wide with shock: "She succeeded in creating a 'living dimension'?!"
Viola nodded heavily, the last trace of relief on her face vanishing: "It was a success... but according to the monitoring array I set up on the outskirts of that plane... something might not be right."
"The energy tide fluctuations are abnormal, the spiritual energy is gathering at a speed far exceeding the model's predictions, and most importantly, the 'will' fluctuations emanating from the plane itself are extremely unstable, even at risk of getting out of control."
"The problem is that the entire plane is now under lockdown, and I can't contact that guy..."
Jemin couldn't help but gasp.
A living dimension out of control!
It's important to know that when wizards face other civilizations in the endless chaotic void, they can generally fight at a level higher.
However, when facing living planes with almost no level of civilization, the wizards are the ones who are outmatched.
Having personally experienced the war against the living dimension, Jemin knew all too well the terror of this enemy.
