Chapter 288 Sadler's Reminder
"Sadler!"
The goblins ran forward enthusiastically, pushed Morrissey down the steps, and surrounded the white magician happily.
Morrissey: ...
This is definitely discriminatory treatment!
Sadler saw Shu Li and the others and asked in surprise, "Why are you here?"
The adventurers who came to Snow Village were all there to enter the Snow Country and explore the snowy mountain maze. If he remembered correctly, these little guys in front of him were still magic apprentices, right?
"We're heading to the Snow Mountain Labyrinth and picked up a few missions in the Snow Country," Shu Li said with a smile. "I didn't expect to run into you and Morrissey here."
Sadler is a fourth-year student at the Magic Academy. He has to go back to the academy for exams every semester. Morrissey follows him around like a shadow.
Anyone with a discerning eye can see what he is thinking.
As for whether Sadler has feelings for Morrissey, it's unknown. Although they often travel together, they've always been distant. Whether this relationship will blossom depends on Morrissey's efforts.
Shu Li felt that if Sadler hated Morrissey, he wouldn't often team up with him for adventures.
"The Snow Mountain Labyrinth is very dangerous," Sadler frowned. "With your level, I'm afraid you can't even reach the Snow Kingdom's royal city."
"We are all magicians!" Desio lifted his cloak, revealing the badge pinned to his magic robe. "With Seleu and Harris here, nothing will go wrong."
Sadler looked at the badge representing a low-level magician in surprise.
He returned in a hurry last semester and left school right after the exam, so he didn't pay attention to their magic test results.
There is no shortage of geniuses in the Saint Villiers School of Magic, but only a handful of them can be promoted from magic apprentices to magicians within two years.
These ten people in front of me are truly gifted.
Morrissey leaned closer and said with a smile, "More people means more fun. How about we team up and have more people to look after us?"
The words "how about it" were addressed to Sadler, obviously asking for his opinion.
Even after learning that Shu Li and others were magicians, and that Seleu and Harris were leading the team, Sadler was still worried.
Seleu and Harris are quite powerful, but they rarely leave the atrium and have little adventure experience. To go to a dangerous place like the Snow Mountain Maze where one can lose their life at any time, they still need experienced veterans to lead the way.
"Okay." Sadler nodded.
"Yeah!" Desio and Budno high-fived happily.
They very much welcome Sadler's joining, and as for Morrissey, it's just a bonus.
Team Light hadn't had breakfast yet, so they walked into the restaurant chatting and laughing.
Morrissey watched Sadler being escorted into the room by the rookies, leaving him alone in the cold wind, and touched his nose.
Farm never misses the opportunity to have a good meal.
Smelling the aroma of food, it immediately jumped out of Shu Li's Fire God Seal and squatted in front of an empty plate, waiting for Shu Li to distribute the delicious barbecue to it.
Morrissey curiously reached out and pinched the little monster's wings, then lifted it up. "Hey, how come it's been two years and this little guy still looks like this? He hasn't grown up at all?"
"Ahhh!" Farm yelled in dissatisfaction, waving his fat and short paws.
Sadler glanced at it coldly and said, "Let it go."
Morrissey immediately let go, and Farm fell back onto the table, baring his teeth at him fiercely.
Damn dark elf, when it's full, I'll definitely teach him a lesson! Hehehe~
Morrissey received the little monster's angry look and shrugged indifferently.
It's just a low-level fire-type baby beast, and it can be dealt with with just one finger.
Magicians have always been cautious about contracting beasts. They would rather have nothing than sign something bad, and would not sign anything other than a high-level beast. But this little magician named Sperian actually signed a low-level beast so early. I really don’t know what he was thinking.
Does this little monster have any other functions besides eating?
Farm ignored Morrissey's disgusted look and buried his head in the barbecue. After finishing a piece of barbecue that was almost as big as himself, he licked his lips and asked Shu Li for another piece.
Shu Li used a fork to pick up a small piece of barbecue and put it on its plate.
Farm swung his tail in dissatisfaction. Big, big, he wants a big one!
Shu Li asked, "Are you full?"
Then he took the barbecue from the plate.
Farm was dumbfounded. It wanted something bigger, not full. Damn it! They were actually withholding its food.
Seeing the large plate of barbecue in the middle of the dining table, it spread its wings, cried out "Ah-woo", and pounced on it, occupying the entire piece of barbecue.
Amanda found that her barbecue was eaten by Farm, and her eyes almost turned into vertical pupils.
Dragons are food-protecting creatures. It's a good temper of them not to get angry when their food was snatched from them.
Shu Li held his forehead and called the waiter to add another plate of barbecue.
Morrissey raised an eyebrow: "Little thing has quite an appetite!"
Shu Li responded: "Yes...yes!"
If the dark elves had seen Farm's true size, they would not have said this.
This little bit of food isn't even enough to fill its teeth!
Sadler put down the cup of warm water and said to Shu Li, "You'd better pack more meat."
Shu Li was puzzled: "Why?"
Before setting off, they had already prepared a lot of food and stored it in storage bags, which was more than enough for two months.
Sadler said, "We need to climb the mountains for four or five days before reaching the capital of the Snow Country. Prey is scarce along the way, and there are many adventurers, so it's not easy to get meat. Once we enter the Snow Mountain Labyrinth, food will be even scarcer. Just in case, bring plenty of food to be prepared."
Hector asked, "Can't we resupply in the capital of the Snow Country?"
Sadler said solemnly, "The prices in the Snow Country are ten times higher than down the mountain."
"hiss--"
Several people gasped.
Shu Li decisively asked the boss for some more barbecue in case of emergency.
After breakfast, the group left the hotel.
Shu Li said that their carriage was still at the hotel and they didn't know what to do with it.
Sadler told him that there was a business in Xue Village that specialized in boarding carriages, and it cost ten gold coins a month, which was quite a good deal.
Shu Li immediately arranged a carriage and happily paid the foster care fee.
"Do you have any magical equipment to protect you from the cold?" Sadler asked in a low voice.
"Yes, what's wrong?" Shu Li was confused. They were dressed simply, and it was obvious that they were wearing cold-weather gear.
Sadler looked at his innocent face and sighed softly.
Morrissey was not so polite. He sneered and said, "Are you showing off to the robbers?"
"Robber?" Shu Li was stunned.
Seleu and Harris looked at each other.
"You mean... there are robbers in the Snow Country?"
Although I did a lot of research before coming here, this is the first time I heard that there are robbers in the Snow Country.
Morrissey said, "The Snow Country's capital has strict regulations, prohibiting theft and fighting. Outside the capital, the situation is more complex. New adventurers entering the mountains aren't a big threat, but they can't protect against veteran adventurers who've been there for three years or more. They've accomplished nothing, and don't want to return empty-handed, so they target the new adventurers."
He narrowed his blood-red eyes, looked at Shu Li and others, shook his head and sighed.
"Look at you all, all dressed lightly. Anyone can tell you have some treasures hidden on you."
The gray hooded cloak has no concealing effect in the Snow Country.
Dixio asked, "What should we do then?"
Ace raised his hand and pointed at a nearby shop. "Maybe we should buy some fur clothing like them."
Sadler nodded appreciatively. "Don't think the fur coat is cumbersome. When magic items lose their effectiveness, a fur coat is the best way to keep warm."
Soon, Team Light rushed into the shop, and each of them bought a fur coat, a fur scarf, fur gloves, and fur boots. After putting them on, they all turned into furry bears.
The cold-proof belt and fur coat are so warm that I'm sweating.
After being armed, the team finally headed towards the gate to the Snow Country.
The road was covered in snow, making it extremely difficult to walk. Besides their own adventure team, there were other adventure groups as well. Hundreds of people marched together in the freezing wind, a truly spectacular sight.
After walking seven or eight hundred meters, we finally saw the tall and majestic Great Wall of Ice and Snow. It was like a giant dragon with no end in sight, surrounding the towering snow-capped mountains.
No wonder most adventurers would rather wait three years than venture into the snowy mountains privately.
There are countless high-level magic circles attached to this ice wall that is over 100 meters high. Without strong strength, it is impossible to climb over it.
Nasha looked at the ice wall that was crystal clear under the sunlight and was worried.
How did your brother get into the mountain? Was he injured? Did he reach the Land of Snow safely?
She couldn't wait to see her brother.
"That's the ice and snow gate." Sadler pointed ahead.
Everyone looked up at the huge, tightly closed ice door in the distance. Many adventurers and mercenaries gathered in front of the door, and everyone was eagerly waiting.
"Isn't this the year when the Snow Kingdom opens? Why is the ice and snow gate still closed?" Hector looked confused.
He thought he could go straight up the mountain once he arrived!
"Although it's open year-round, there are time restrictions," Sadler explained. "It opens at 9 a.m. and closes at 4 p.m. every day."
Shu Li suddenly understood.
No wonder so many adventurers stayed in the hotel last night. It turned out that they missed the time to go up the mountain.
"Let's go wait over there!" Shu Li waved his hand and led the team forward.
When they were about to arrive, the ice and snow gate opened without warning.
“Boom—”
As the magic circle was activated, the ice and snow gate lit up with brilliant light, and then two doors made of ice slowly opened, revealing a staircase leading to the mountain.
Shu Li thought that the adventurers in front would rush in, however, they did not move, but quietly waited by the side.
Just as he was wondering why they didn't move, he saw a group of people coming down the mountain.
These people all looked disheveled, as if they hadn't taken a bath in years. Some had tattered clothes, dirty faces and disheveled hair, while others were covered in blood and had numb expressions.
What surprised Shu Li even more was that there were people carrying the coffin with sad expressions.
Are they adventurers heading to the Snow Country?
"Entering the Snow Mountain Maze is a dangerous end. It's not too late to regret now. Turn back now if you don't want to die!"
Someone among the waiting adventurers shouted loudly.
"Captain Nasak, if you want to keep the treasure in the maze for yourself, just say so!" a middle-aged man retorted in a rough voice.
"No one can take all the treasures in the maze for themselves. Everyone has to rely on their own abilities." Another young man said.
"Whether we can successfully reach the top of the mountain is still a question. There's no point in arguing about it now!"
More adventurers joined in the shouting.
"That's right! Who doesn't know that the notorious 'Hunting Group' is waiting to rob us halfway up the mountain?"
"Everyone should unite and withstand the siege of the hunting group first."
"With so many of us, are we still afraid of the hunting group?"
"Previous adventurers thought the same. Guess how they are doing now? How many of them managed to leave the snowy mountains alive?"
"Is the hunting group so scary?"
"Be smart and follow the main force. Don't be left alone, or you will die without knowing how."
"Especially beautiful women, stay close to your teammates."
