Chapter 22: Alive Again

Seeing her busy, Aunt Wang did not urge her and sat in the yard chatting with her.

"I figured you got off work yesterday, so I thought it was time for you to get up."

After a quick wash, she put on a dacron skirt and went to the yard with two glasses of water.

"What is it that makes you so anxious to see me?"

"Oh, Xiaoqing, you are really a fortune teller. My old sister believed you and went directly to her son to get back some of the money she hadn't spent. Her daughter and her husband were really making a fuss. Although they kept saying that they couldn't live together anymore and wanted a divorce, they didn't really do it because they had a child to worry about."

This morning, her old sister came with some canned food to thank her. After listening to her complaints for the whole morning, she just sent her away.

"These are two cans of food sent by your mother Zhao. I brought them to you. She should be thanking you for your little fortune-teller."

Looking at the two cans of yellow peaches on the table, Dai Qing shook her head. "This is Aunt Zhao's way of thanking you. It has nothing to do with me."

The transaction between them was to take five dollars and exchange the money for two.

"You are the one who helped her solve the problem. I am just an introducer. It was because she was so pitiful that I shamelessly brought her to you."

Aunt Wang chuckled. This girl has really good character and doesn't take credit for herself at all.

"That's why you are the noble person around Aunt Zhao. She deserves to be grateful to you."

She doesn't eat things that don't belong to her, because if she does, it will easily lead to cause and effect.

"Look at you, kid... well, I know your industry has a lot of rules, and your mother doesn't understand them. Today I have another story. My colleague's uncle was one of the first wave of daring surfers. He opened a big hotel. His business was very good before, and he became a millionaire early on. But I don't know what happened in the past year. Nothing went well for him, and the hotel business was not good either."

Aunt Wang looked at Dai Qing eagerly, and the wrinkles on her face were all smiling like chrysanthemums.

After hearing Aunt Wang's suggestion, Dai Qing did not refuse. She had always wanted to be a fortune teller, so she naturally accepted the business.

"If they believe me, I can go there. I can go and see it the day after tomorrow when I have a day off."

"Hey~, then it's settled. I'll go back and tell them that I'll go to their hotel the day after tomorrow to help take a look. I heard that bad feng shui may also have an impact."

Aunt Wang slapped her thigh and left in a hurry.

Dai Qing curled her lips and decided to forget about fortune-telling as she had not yet reviewed it.

Grandpa once said that an excellent fortune teller can be a feng shui master, fortune teller, or divination master, but not the other way around. So, for now, she is still focusing all her energy on fortune telling.

Seeing that it was getting late, Dai Qing carried her bag to the market, bought some vegetables and came back to cook.

At noon, the market was crowded with people, and there were many varieties of vegetables, as well as chicken, duck, fish and meat. After a walk, she bought some green onions and celery, and saw some steaming tofu, so she cut a piece of water-ground tofu and a crucian carp to make tofu soup.

While she was waiting for the chef to slaughter the fish for her, she heard a quarrel between a mother and daughter at the meat stall next door.

"Mom, I want to eat meat."

"Girl, why are you so greedy?"

"It's been a while since we've eaten meat. I've lost weight. Besides, my father and my older brothers all work, so they need to eat some meat to supplement their nutrition."
