Chapter 463: The Price of Gossip

Chapter 463: The Price of Gossip

Listening to his wife's complaints, the man's face flushed, but he couldn't refute a word. This time it was indeed his mother's fault, but the money had already been given, what else could he do?

"Wife, I promise I won't do it again next time. You know our mother is not a bad person. She helps the weaker ones. Aren't we a little stronger than the second child?"

The man smiled, but his wife didn't buy it at all and just pouted.

"Bullshit, we are doing well? Which eye of yours saw that? Your daughter wanted to learn painting, and I hesitated for half a year, and couldn't bear to spend the money to enroll. But you directly used the money we saved to support your brother. I really want to knock open your brain to see if it's filled with water."

Speaking of her own daughter, the aunt was stunned and slapped her thigh.

"You almost confused me. Why does your mother favor the second child's family? We both know it in our hearts. Isn't it because the second child's family gave birth to a boy and I gave birth to a girl?"

"The old lady only has her precious grandson in her eyes. She never even looks at my daughter. Do you think I don't know? I used to turn a blind eye, but now it's no longer possible. Since you don't care about us, let's just live our own lives and avoid bothering the Zhang family."

As the aunt said this, she pushed the man, snatched the two yuan from his hand, snorted, and walked away.

The man's face turned red after being scolded. He turned around and saw Dai Qing who was watching the show seriously next to him. He looked embarrassed and quickly followed her.

Dai Qing watched the two people leave one after the other, raised her hand and stroked her chin. You know what, it was really lively today.

Watching the couple walk away, Dai Qing also packed up her things. Anyway, she couldn't sit here today, or she would be caught in the trap if she wasn't careful.

Tie the dog's leash to the back seat and ride straight home.

In the afternoon, Juanzi came over just after I woke up.

"Xiaoqing, Yanyan asked me to be her bridesmaid."

Dai Qing was stunned, looking at her reluctant face, "You agreed?"

"What can I do if I don't agree? She kept begging me, saying that she couldn't find anyone else for the time being and asked me to help her. I was really pestered by her and had no choice but to agree."

But that was the extent of their relationship, and she really didn't want to be the bridesmaid.

"The main reason is that I don't know any of her friends. I would feel uncomfortable going there alone."

Juanzi put her arm around Dai Qing and looked at her eagerly.

"What should I do? I regretted it after I agreed."

If I regret it at the last minute, it won’t seem good, but I will feel uncomfortable.

Seeing her embarrassed expression, Dai Qing patted her hands soothingly.

"She has invited me to the wedding too. When you are done, come and see me and we can sit together."

Fortunately, bridesmaids during this period mainly do odd jobs and there are not as many complicated procedures as in the later stages.

Sometimes she couldn't understand Mao Yanyan's train of thought. There were so many friends in the workshop, she could just invite two good friends, why did she bother to mess with Juanzi?

"That's all we can do."

I hope the groom's friends are well-behaved and don't mess around. Otherwise, she will get angry.

"You don't know that in order to liven up the atmosphere at a wedding, the officiant will inform the groom in advance and use the bridesmaids to play some boring games and make fun of them. So, if you are not a good friend, don't easily become a bridesmaid."

She was just soft-hearted and couldn't resist the constant begging, so she agreed reluctantly.

Seeing Juanzi's unhappy face, Dai Qing pursed her lips. Mao Yanyan knew Juanzi, but it was because of her that she caused trouble for Juanzi.

"She came to ask me out yesterday, but I didn't agree. I didn't expect her to come to you again. I'm the one who got you into trouble."

Dai Qing looked at her apologetically, patted her hands and consoled her, "How about this, I'll accompany you tomorrow and promise not to let anyone cause you any trouble."

"Really? That's great."

Juanzi's eyes lit up, and she hugged Dai Qing, rubbing her head against her shoulder.

"I'm so lucky to have a friend like you."

Dai Qing sighed silently. If it weren't for her, the two of them would never have known each other.

After solving the problem, Juanzi was completely relieved. She sat down in the chair carelessly, but a little embarrassed.

"You don't know, ever since I agreed yesterday, I was in a trance the entire morning shift, I was distracted the whole time, and I ran here as soon as I got off work."

"That's great. I'll make you braised spareribs for dinner to satisfy your surprise." Dai Qing said as she opened the refrigerator and took out the frozen spareribs to thaw them.

"Hehe, you're still the best to me." When she heard about the delicious food, Juanzi nodded like crazy. How could she still look depressed?

A real foodie.

After eating and drinking, Dai Qing sent the man home and happened to meet Zhang Ge at the door.

"You damn girl, you went to Xiaoqing's place to eat again. Do you dislike my cooking so much that you can't find me when it's time to eat?"

As he spoke, Zhang Dove poked the young lady's forehead with his finger and glared at her.

Juanzi held her mother's hand and could only giggle.

"No, I just went to play with Xiaoqing, and I just happened to be there by chance."

"You are greedy, so stop making excuses. Do I need you to eat or wear? Why would you run away when I see the food at home?"

Zhang Pi was helpless when facing his own daughter. Fortunately, Xiaoqing was not a stingy person. If it were another family, they would always go to her for free meals and their reputation as a glutton would have spread throughout the community long ago.

Dai Qing felt quite touched watching the interaction between mother and daughter. After all, she had been dependent on her grandfather since she could remember. She had no idea what it felt like to be cared for by her own mother.

"Aunt Zhang, please stop talking about her. I'm so happy that Juanzi can come and accompany me."

"That's right. Xiaoqing and I are like sisters. If she's lonely, I can go and sleep with her."

Hearing this, Zhang Pi slapped her on the forehead.

"You silly girl, you are so old, yet you still speak without restraint. How can you make a good sentence sound so awkward?"

"Oh, it means the same thing. We are not sisters, but we are better than sisters. Mom, don't worry too much."

After sending her to the door and watching the mother and daughter interacting happily, Dai Qing turned around and went home.

While walking on the road, Dai Qing looked up, saw the beautiful moonlight tonight, turned around and walked towards the Life Square, just as if she was taking a walk.

The weather now is neither too hot nor too cold, and many people, especially in the residential areas, go out for a walk.

Dai Qing walked around the living area, turned onto the sidewalk of Cotton Street, and then strolled back home. She had basically digested everything.

After walking a few steps, I saw a group of people gathered not far ahead. I didn't know why they were arguing and pushing each other.

Dai Qing didn't want to pay attention to other people's affairs, so she just walked past. Unfortunately, she was stopped by someone.
