Becoming a god

Becoming a god

Even though Talmawen and Veldrian were prone to corruption, the numerous evil gods were no match for them when they joined forces. Before long, Talmawen and Veldrian took Solaya away from the underworld and into the no-fly zone.

“Velderien, take Aya back to the Emerald Sea,” Talmawen suddenly said.

Sorea was still reeling from what she had just witnessed in the past, and she was startled by Talmawen's words. She couldn't understand why her father would send her back to the Emerald Sea.

Seeing Soleria's expression, Veldrian instinctively wanted to refuse Talmaven's suggestion, but just as he was about to speak, he seemed to remember something and agreed: "Okay."

Before Soraya could refute, he held the child in one arm and forcefully wrapped his other arm around Soraya's waist, leading her towards the Emerald Sea.

Knowing Solya's inner turmoil, Veldrian led her directly to his temple built atop a giant tree, without letting Solya see any elves along the way.

With everyone's tacit approval, Sorea settled down in the Emerald Sea. The familiar surroundings often made her feel disoriented, wondering if she had ever actually left the Emerald Sea and if the things she had experienced were just figments of her imagination.

It's unclear what Veldrian has been busy with lately. He only appears when feeding Tarasi; otherwise, it's unclear what he's been up to.

Solaya, having nothing better to do, took on the task of caring for the child. Only after bringing Tarasi did Solaya realize how hard Veldrian had worked before.

Three months of peaceful days passed in a flash. Apart from the elves looking at her with surprise when Soraya took Tarasi out of the temple for a stroll in the Emerald Sea, nothing else happened.

But Sorea knew very well that the tranquility she was seeing was nothing more than a beautiful dream woven by others.

As Sorea finished the breakfast prepared by Veldrian and watched him gently lull the child, who had drunk milk, to sleep, she was about to leave when she suddenly called out to him:

“Velderien, I blamed you when I was almost under house arrest here, but I don’t blame you now.”

"Why are you suddenly bringing this up?" Veldrian was puzzled when Solaya brought up the past.

Solaya smiled gently at Verdrien, who hadn't seen Solaya smile like this in a long time. "It's all in the past. If you can forgive me, let's live a good life together from now on."

“…Anyway, thank you.” Sorea didn’t answer Veldrian’s question, nor did she explain why she was thanking him. She simply urged Veldrian to get back to work.

After Veldrian had completely left the temple, Solaya sat at the dining table looking at the large tree outside the temple covered with withered leaves, then got up and went to Tarasi's room.

She glanced at her sleeping child, then bent down to kiss the child who had been separated from his mother since birth.

"My child, I am sorry, but you will grow up in the safest world. I love you and I will always protect you."

Sorea looked at Taraxi with reluctance, then covered her face with her hands. When she looked up, her eyes were filled with an unprecedented determination and seriousness.

She had been unwilling to spend time with Tarasi for so long because she was afraid she wouldn't be able to bear leaving him. Now she realizes she was wrong, terribly wrong.

Sorea loved her child, and she loved Tarasi very much. Even though they hadn't spent much time together, she still couldn't bear to part with her child, but she had to leave.

Although she didn't spend much time with the elves, Soraya learned from their conversations that the continent of Singri was now engulfed in war.

The Osenia Empire was attacked by the combined forces of the Living Empire and the Iron Kingdom. Talmawen and Veldrian confronted Floria and Suthesius to prevent them from attacking their own divine kingdom.

Sorea also happened to know why this war started, because neither gods nor humans discovered that chaos had always been right beside her!

Repairing the power of other gods is a very long process. The passage that Soraya opened with her limited divine power when she left the Emerald Sea has not been repaired. This is the way out that Soraya left for herself, and it is also the reason why she has no objection to returning to the Emerald Sea.

After leaving the Emerald Sea and returning to the depths of the Dragonspine Forest, Solaya looked at Chaos after confirming that there were no living beings around:

"Can you speak now? You've been following me for so long."

"Little kid, don't be so cold to an old man. According to human terms, I should be your grandfather." Chaos glanced at Soraya's back without leaving a trace and spoke slowly.

"You've come to me, have you thought this through?"

Sorea suddenly approached Chaos and spoke in a completely emotionless voice: "Before I do as you wish, you must promise me that my mother will return to Her divine kingdom, that the Dream Source will return, and that the gods will never again be able to start a war."

“Good child, as long as you accompany me to the deepest darkness of this world, I will grant your request.” Chaos didn’t mind Soraya’s coercion and still spoke with a smile.

Sorea knew things wouldn't be as simple as Chaos made them out to be, but she had no other choice.

It wasn't just because she wanted to free her mother; she couldn't stand by and watch as humanity was destroyed because of the manipulation of the gods.

When she returned to the cave where she had encountered Chaos, Solaya was no longer unaware of what she would face, just as she had before. She closed her eyes and prepared to jump into the endless abyss when Chaos pulled her back.

"Don't be in such a hurry. When you go down, remember not to resist the invasion of darkness. I want to remind you that the pain of being tainted by darkness is more painful than having all your bones torn apart. Once you go down, there is no turning back."

"What exactly do you want to do?" Sorea had resigned herself to her fate, but she still wanted an answer.

Chaos's lips curled up even higher after Sorea finished speaking, as if he had been waiting for her question.

"There are no more than five true gods in this world. Do you know why?" Chaos didn't expect Soraya to be able to answer this question.

“Besides your mother being born from me and your father killing the former sea god to become a god, all other gods were born from light. This world is too bright, so all kinds of evil gods were born. And the evil gods have no ruler. The dark aura on my body has always enveloped them, causing them to be evil and cruel.”

Chaos's smile vanished at this point, and he looked at Solia with a serious expression:

"You are the person I have ever met who is most attuned to the darkness here. I tell you, once you go down there, you will experience the most painful thing in the world. Absorb this darkness, subdue the darkness, and you will become the master of darkness. With this, you can become a god."

Sorea forced a smile: "I will go down, but I don't know if I can absorb the darkness here. I just hope that no matter whether I succeed or not, you can keep your promise."

Chaos nodded: "That's natural."

Having received the answer, Sorea had no more reservations and leaped into the boundless darkness.

Last time in this darkness, she was enveloped by the power of chaos and felt no pain. This time, as soon as she came into contact with this darkness, she felt the pain of every inch of her skin melting away. Then the darkness invaded her bone marrow. Just as the chaos had said, Sorea felt the pain of every bone in her body being pulled out and shattered.

The increasingly intense pain became unbearable for her, and she screamed in despair, "Aaaaaah!"

Just as she cried out, Veldrian, who had been hiding in the shadows to avoid being discovered by Chaos, could no longer bear it and prepared to jump down to pull Soraya up.

But before He could even touch the darkness, He was bounced back by the power set up by Chaos.

“You can’t get in. She’s doing this to save the world. You should also feel yourself being corrupted by darkness, otherwise you wouldn’t have slept for so many years to remove this pollution.”

Veldrian threw a punch at Chaos, but Chaos easily dodged the attack.

"I only want my wife, my Aya, my beloved, to be safe. The collapse of this world will naturally be borne by us gods; she's only a few hundred years old!"

Verdrian's anger completely clouded his judgment. He had sensed something was wrong with Soraya that morning, but he didn't pay much attention when he saw her leave the Emerald Sea, only projecting his consciousness onto the tree closest to her.

Chaos blocked His conversation with Solaya the moment His consciousness descended.

When Veldrian saw Chaos, he understood everything. He knew he was wrong, he, Chrona, and Talmawen were all wrong. All of this, including Soraya being taken away by greed and the start of the war, was because Chaos was behind it all.

Just as Veldrian and Chaos were arguing, Solaya let out another painful cry from the darkness.

When Veldrian heard her voice, his heart broke. He spoke to Chaos with a pleading tone: "Krona is your own daughter. You love her, so you didn't let her enter the darkness. But Solaya is Krona's only daughter! Your granddaughter. At least find a way to stop her from suffering so much."

"Of course there is a way, it just depends on whether you're willing or not." Chaos's smile reappeared on his face.

"Speak quickly."

"Use all your power to envelop Soraya, remember, all your power. After you use up your power, you will be unable to maintain your form and consciousness to return to the divine realm. You will not die, but it is unknown how many years it will be before you regain consciousness." The voice of Chaos was full of malice.

Veldrian, however, saw something in the malice of Chaos: "Aya's power alone is not enough to absorb darkness and become a god. You are just using my power to help her."

"That depends on whether you're willing or not."

Veldrian stopped looking at Chaos. After learning the method, he did not hesitate for a moment and jumped into the darkness to find Solaya.

Sorea suddenly felt a warmth amidst her endless pain. In her blurred vision, there was only a lush green, and this green made her feel less pain.

She seemed to vaguely hear Verdrian's words again. Verdrian told her to take good care of Tarasi, but the previous pain had left her delirious and unable to distinguish between reality and illusion.

With Verdelion's help, Solaya accepted the darkness more and more quickly. Verdelion saw that Solaya was no longer in pain, and her consciousness was becoming more and more blurred. He did not know how long it would take for him to regain consciousness. He wanted to see Solaya for a while longer. Even though he was reluctant to part with her, the loss of power forced him to fall into the endless darkness.

Unaware that the unconscious Veldrian had deceived him, his power had only increased the resilience of Solya's body. When his power completely disappeared, Solya suffered even more intense pain than before.

After Soraya's body was cleansed by the power of life, she could no longer fall into a coma. She felt the pain more clearly and became fully awake in the pain given by the darkness until she got used to it.

"It seems like Verdrian has been here," Sorea thought as she fully regained consciousness.

Suddenly, Solaya discovered that the necklace Verdrian had given her when she and Verdrian became engaged, and the necklace she never took off, was emitting a green light.

This is……

This is the divine essence of Veldrian!

The divine essence of a god is the most important thing to a god, and Veldrian gave his divine essence to Soraya early on. Because of Veldrian's previous existence, no one would have discovered his divine essence. Soraya knew that the reason why the divine essence shone was that the god had returned to his divine essence.

God only returns to His Kingdom after He has been severely wounded or has lost all His power.

"Aa ...

Sorea realized that the hallucination she had experienced earlier was not a hallucination; Veldrian had lost his power and returned to his godhood.

Amidst the pain, Solaya grew more resolute, and she no longer cried out in agony.

She didn't know how much time had passed, but she clearly felt that the darkness around her was no longer so dense, and she could see the cave walls in front of her.

Solaya felt her body brimming with power, growing stronger and stronger. A hard stone replaced her heart, and Solaya knew that this was her own divine essence; she had become a god.

As the last dark mist in the cave dissipated, a surge of darkness flowed from Solaya's body, forcing all the evil gods to kneel before this power, welcoming the birth of their true king.

Chaos also kept its promise; the moment Soraya became a god, Chrona also returned to her divine realm.

When all the gods sensed Chrona's return, they also sensed the birth of a new god, the goddess of darkness and eternity. Her authority was to rule over the evil gods, and from then on, the evil gods no longer interfered with the real world.

Under the interference of chaos and world consciousness, the true gods can preach on the continent, but apart from divine intervention, no divine power can ever descend upon the continent.

...

After the dust settled, the newly created God of Darkness and Eternity did not establish his own divine kingdom. Dressed in black with a green necklace around his neck, he took Tarrazi from Talmawen and led him back to the Emerald Sea.

The Emerald Sea had become desolate due to the loss of Veldrian's power, but Solya's arrival restored it to its former state. She believed that Veldrian would want to awaken at home.
