Chapter 289

"So this is what human food is like. Those humans must have been lying to me, feeding me awful food."

An Ge looked at Bitton, who was wolfing down his food and complaining, and unusually spoke kindly to them, "That's probably the standard here. They've done their best."

Ange has also tried the so-called delicacies here, and the feeling is truly indescribable.

Well, it's about the same level as stir-fried cucumber with pineapple.

Beaton seemed to understand, but finally concluded that these delicacies were only for gods to enjoy; mortals like them simply didn't have the means.

The two ate and drank their fill, feeling as relaxed as if they were at home.

Before entering the castle territory, Ange had told Hogg and Nat about the two of them, telling them not to worry. Since there was nothing else to do now, a vacation at the vampire castle seemed like a good idea.

While things were peaceful and serene here, Martin was seething with anger.

"My god, please increase the power of your rules. Those two were too lucky to have escaped your power. Such good fortune can become your nourishment."

Martin muttered prayers and, after receiving a divine response, regained his faith.

Hmph, he has a god behind him; no matter how lucky they are, it's useless.

As night fell, Ange, having spent the entire day in the castle, began to realize the difference between day and night.

It was still gloomy outside, but at night, she could clearly feel a more oppressive atmosphere compared to the daytime. This oppression was subtle; without comparison, she wouldn't have noticed it at all.

It seems that the power of the God of Darkness is amplified at night, meaning that the risks will be greater at night.

Just as An Ge was about to push open the guest room door, a notification suddenly appeared: Your behavior seems to have angered the gods, who have increased the power of the rules. Perhaps you will be punished for stepping in with your left foot first.

Ange... Very well, this deity's targeting is far too obvious.

"Bidon, wait a moment. Step in with your right foot first," Ange quickly turned to remind him.

Upon hearing An Ge's words, Beaton's foot hovered in mid-air, and his entire body stiffened.

Seeing Beaton's alarmed expression, Ange sighed, "Never mind, I'll go check on your room."

The rules for Beaton's room were largely the same as yesterday, but there were a few more. Ange looked around and explained the rules to Beaton.

"Phew, thank goodness for Lord An."

"Alright, relax and get a good night's sleep. No one should bother you in the middle of the night. Look at your dark circles, they're almost showing. Such a beautiful elf shouldn't ruin her beauty; that's a crime, you know?"

Beaton had no idea what the connection was between dark circles under his eyes and crime, but he would absolutely obey Ango's orders.

"Yes, Lord An. I will definitely get a good rest today."

After comforting Bitton for a few more minutes, Ange returned to her room. As soon as she opened the door, she was stunned by the room's glowing red color.

"My God, how many more rules have been added?" An Ge swallowed hard. Just look at the difference in treatment Martin is giving her, how much he must hate her.

Ange carefully entered the room, including but not limited to the prescribed steps she took, and whether she should sit or stand while drinking water.

Just as she was about to get into bed, a ghostly face appeared in front of her. The long-haired woman suddenly appeared and looked at An Ge with a ferocious expression.

"You didn't bother me in the middle of the night, but now you're doing it now? What, are you bored and want to chat with me?" An Ge calmly sipped her milk tea, as if she were sitting with an old friend across from her.

The woman looked utterly defeated. What was wrong with this person? Wasn't he afraid at all?

"Huh? Can't you talk? You can't just stare at me like that, can you? I know I'm good-looking, and there's nothing you can do about it being jealous. By the way, you don't look like a vampire, so are you a zombie? Or maybe a ghost?"

If so, you really don't need to bother showing yourself; I can see ghosts. By the way, do you guys have heart-to-heart talks with the guests every day? Is it part of your job?

Perhaps she was just too bored, so An Ge started talking non-stop.

The woman watched An Ge's mouth open and close, feeling her head buzzing. She really wanted to tell her to shut up, but unfortunately, she couldn't say it.

Forget it, this person is too difficult to win over, she should just retreat.

"Hey, why are you leaving so soon? I haven't said enough yet."

Upon hearing An Ge's words, the woman quickened her pace as she walked away.

"Pfft," An Ge chuckled. These ghosts can harm people beyond their capabilities because of the rules, but they can also act according to the rules, no matter how angry they are.

Rules, when used well, can sometimes be a good thing.

Another dreamless night passed. An Ge opened her eyes, looking out the window with a contented expression. The view outside was still hazy, with visibility only a hundred meters. In just two days, she had already begun to adjust to the scenery.

Because none of those annoying things happened yesterday, Ange was in a good mood. She woke Beaton up and, seeing that he had regained his good looks, felt even better.

"Let's go and say hello to the master."

A night passed, and she was even more eager to see Martin's expression.

"Hey, where's Lord Martin?" Ange asked the butler when she didn't see Martin in the hall.

The butler looked at the master who had almost made the lord lose control, and his lips twitched. "The master is not feeling well and is resting in his room."

"What's wrong? Are you sick? Is it serious?"

"You know best what's going on," the butler thought to himself, but didn't show it on his face.

This person has escaped countless rules and possesses unfathomable strength. He even angered the castle lord to the point of being unable to get out of bed. He is someone you absolutely cannot afford to offend.

“I’m alright now, thank you, Miss Ann.” Martin’s voice came from behind before the butler could speak.

Hearing the barely concealed gritted teeth, An Ge smiled as if she were seeing an old friend, "It's good that you're alright. I was worried that our arrival had exhausted you."

Her concern was evident in her words, and anyone could see her sincerity.

Martin clearly heard the sarcasm in An Ge's words. He took a deep breath and looked at An Ge as if she were a monster.

He was now certain that An Ge's success was not simply due to good luck.

No matter how lucky you are, it's impossible to avoid triggering any of those rules. And after a night, An Ge and her companion appeared in the hall unharmed, their spirits even improving.

That can only mean one thing: she can see the rules. This guess is absurd, but Martin believes it's the truth.

Martin's feelings were extremely complicated, because the gods had imposed too many rules on him without any results, and were already starting to have a problem with him.

But what could he do? The other party was stronger than him, and he couldn't beat her in a fight, nor could he be bound by the rules.

At that moment, he suddenly regretted inviting people to his territory.

Martin was incredibly frustrated that he couldn't eat the fatty meat. His mood only improved when he thought about the little darlings who were coming soon.

He had no choice but to get those two away before those people arrived.
