Yunmo, whom An Ge was thinking about, finished reading the letter in his hand, placed it on the fire with a cold expression, and snorted disdainfully as he watched the flames grow stronger.
Thanks to An Ge's exclusive authorization, his status in the family is now completely different, and he is the designated heir.
His kind stepmother kept urging his father to send him back to the capital so that his son could take over Huaixi City. Meanwhile, that good-for-nothing Liu Shan couldn't even get an audience with the innkeeper, let alone cooperate with the inn.
His beloved father, seeing his influence waning, started playing the emotional card. Unfortunately, he no longer needed it.
Yunmo watched the letter gradually burn out, putting the mess in the capital to the back of his mind, when he heard a knock on the door. He rubbed his forehead speechlessly; such urgent knocking could only come from Bai Yurou.
Yunmo opened the door and, as expected, saw the face he hated. "What now?"
Bai Yurou instinctively wanted to retort, but then she held back, thinking of something. "I've come to say goodbye. We've been at odds for so long, but we've developed some kind of friendship. I'm just saying goodbye before I leave."
Yunmo's heart skipped a beat, and his expression became awkward for a moment, but he quickly recovered. "Oh, you're finally leaving. I'll finally have some peace and quiet."
"Hmph, Yun Xiaohei, you heartless bastard! They're about to leave, would it kill you to say a kind word?"
Yunmo, unusually serious, asked, "Are you going back to the Northwest?"
"I'm going to Beijing with my cousin. My grandpa and parents are also going back to Beijing this year, so I'll be spending the New Year there."
Yunmo breathed a sigh of relief for some reason, then reverted to her sharp tongue, "Sigh, I thought you would go back to the Northwest? Looks like I won't have any peace and quiet this year."
"Are you going back to the capital too?" Bai Yurou asked curiously.
"Well, I've been here for a while now, it's time to go back and visit." He completely forgot that he had planned to spend the New Year in Huaixi City not long ago.
Bai Yurou revealed a big smile, "Hehe, then you should take this time to practice your verbal skills. I never feel a sense of accomplishment when I beat you. Yun Xiaohei, see you in the capital."
Yunmo watched Bai Yurou skip and hop away, shaking his head helplessly. He didn't even realize that the corners of his mouth had unconsciously curled up.
Feng Jinghan did not expect the order to return to the capital to come so suddenly. He originally planned to set off in another half month, but now he had to change his plans.
In recent days, he had been trying to befriend Chi Mu, but with little success. Hearing that Chi Mu had become an inn employee, Feng Jinghan had no choice but to give up for the time being. Perhaps staying at the inn would be better for him than assisting him.
But Feng Jinghan did not intend to give up. He would wait until he found out what had happened and resolved Chi Mu's inner conflict before trying to recruit him.
"How's the investigation going?"
Steward Wang bowed and replied, "It will take some time, but it seems to be related to Prince Kang."
"I will return to Beijing tomorrow, and the investigation into this matter will continue."
In the backyard of the inn, An Ge and Hu Jiu talked about Chi Mu. "This Chi Mu is really talented. I heard that he has only been at the supermarket for two days and he has already mastered it."
Hu Jiu secretly made a mental note of Chi Mu, but remained calm on the surface. "If he really has the ability, we can promote him later. It's good for the inn to have a local."
"By the way, how's Lu Yan? I heard he's living with you now, is he disturbing you?"
"Fortunately, I'm used to it, and I don't have high requirements for my living environment."
An Ge felt that Hu Jiu was still being treated unfairly, and said solemnly, "Just bear with it a little longer. The inn is not far from the next upgrade, and there will be new staff dormitories then. I will save you the best one."
Hu Jiu felt a warm glow in his heart and grinned foolishly, "Then thank you very much, store manager."
"By the way, what exactly is Lu Yan's identity? Someone who has been playing with you since childhood must be extraordinary." When she was recruiting, she saw that Lu Yan was a member of the Demon Clan. If it weren't for Hu Jiu, she wouldn't have been so decisive in keeping him.
Her group of employees is almost a veritable monster.
"He is a member of the demon royal family, but he has never been favored. I only met him by chance."
"Another member of the royal family! Royals are becoming as common as cabbages at this inn." An Ge was speechless. She shouldn't have asked. Perhaps because of what happened with Hu Jiu and Chi Mu, she was quite calm about Lu Yan's identity.
Moreover, that guy has absolutely no royal bearing; he's far inferior to Feng Jinghan.
Speak of the devil, and he appears. An Ge had just thought of Feng Jinghan when she heard that he had come to say goodbye.
When Feng Jinghan saw An Ge and Hu Jiu together, he had to admit that the two looked pleasing to the eye. Even though he knew he had let go, he still found it somewhat jarring.
He stepped forward, breaking the tranquil atmosphere: "An urgent imperial edict has been issued, and I have come to bid farewell to the shopkeeper. Thank you for your care during this time."
An Ge was still grateful to Feng Jinghan, and felt a little reluctant to see him leave. "I should thank you more. Oh, let's not thank each other like this every day. If you need any help when you go back to Beijing, just let me know."
She knew Feng Jinghan's ambition and felt that if someone like Feng Jinghan were in power, it would be a good thing for the people, and she would be happy to help.
"Alright, then I'll accept your offer without hesitation. I've already had someone research the cement formula you gave me last time. I'd like to repair the road leading to the outside world first. What do you think, shop manager?"
"That's great, but won't that be a waste of resources and manpower?"
“We can use work as a form of relief, which will also give people an extra source of income.” This was a phrase the store manager had used to describe him, and he felt that the store manager was no less capable than someone who could govern a country.
"Big Treasury, you're amazing!" An Ge exclaimed excitedly, revealing the nickname she used for Feng Jinghan in private.
