Chapter Fifty

In the past, chess and card rooms were places for many people to relax and have fun, and in some places, they were even extremely popular.

In this alien world where entertainment is underdeveloped, the allure of card and board game rooms is self-evident.

While the guests were still engrossed in changing the room theme, they discovered that a card and chess room had suddenly appeared on the second floor.

"It only costs 50 points to get in, and you can stay for a whole day. That's so cheap!" Someone couldn't help but be curious. The inn's prices were never low, and 50 points was the lowest price they had ever seen in any paid venue.

"However, there is a limit to the number of people. Once it's full, we won't be able to get in. I need to hurry in and take a good look." Many people, after seeing the price, didn't hesitate to pay and immediately did so.

The card and chess room was a large room with many square tables, each with green squares. Further inside were private rooms, which required an additional amount of points.

The overall layout is somewhat similar to that of a restaurant.

Just as everyone was wondering what was going on, they saw the sign for the game room and realized which squares were called "Mahjong" and other similar tiles. Some people looked at the rules of Mahjong, found them very interesting, and immediately pulled in a few friends to play together.

Soon, the entire card room was filled with the sound of mahjong tiles being played.

Some nobles who initially felt that being in the main hall was beneath their dignity completely forgot about it after playing mahjong for a while. Others who preferred quiet found a private room and either played chess or a game called poker, all of them thoroughly enjoying themselves.

"Forty thousand. Old Wang, I heard you're planning to open a tailor shop near the inn. When will it open? I'll move my fabric shop over next to yours."

"Bang! That's great! I'll let you know once I've chosen a location."

"It's burnt! Hehe, sorry, sir."

"Haha, it seems my luck is running out today?"

At the mahjong table, people of different backgrounds were initially a little reserved, but after two rounds, the barriers disappeared.

Some people have found that it is more convenient to conduct business at a card or chess table than at a dinner table, and have decided to choose a card or chess room as their future meeting place.

The card and chess room also sells various instant noodles, drinks, and other food. Some people get so engrossed in playing cards that they don't leave the room all day. Unfortunately, the card and chess room is only open during the day, and when it closes, they have to leave reluctantly.

In addition, the card and chess room has a strict rule that gambling is not allowed. If someone is caught gambling, they will be kicked out of the inn immediately.

This was specially designed by An Ge; she didn't want card games, intended for entertainment, to become tools for gamblers.

The card and chess room closed after it reached full capacity, which worried a group of people who missed out. They waited outside, hoping to rush in as soon as someone came out. However, after watching all day, people only started to emerge gradually, right up until closing time.

These people were dumbfounded, especially after hearing the smug boast of the person who went in; they were incredibly angry.

The moment the card room opened, people who had been waiting for a long time rushed in, while those who didn't get a seat sighed with regret and secretly resolved to come an hour earlier next time.

For a time, the card and mahjong room became the most popular attraction at the inn, especially for some older people, who looked forward to playing a few rounds of mahjong with their friends every day.

Some clever people, because they couldn't secure a spot in the mahjong room every day, secretly had a set of mahjong tiles made according to the standard specifications and played it while lying in their rooms.

When they discovered that the shop manager didn't seem to mind, they brazenly began to imitate mahjong.

Some people even turned this into a business, making a fortune. Mahjong and poker quickly spread throughout Huaixi City, becoming leisure activities for the residents, and gradually spreading beyond the city walls.

Thanks to the themed rooms and the card room, An Ge's wallet, which had become somewhat depleted after entering the Boundless Space, was filled up again.

Looking at the soaring points, An Ge's anger at being framed by Gu Wen subsided considerably. "Fortune favors the bold, and special events aren't all bad."

However, she didn't want to go through that again. If these special events weren't handled properly, they could put the inn in danger.

"A gambler's mentality is unacceptable!" An Ge muttered.

"Senior Sister Huayue, I heard you're working in the guest rooms now. That must be so tiring." An Ge had just entered the lobby when she heard Shi Xinyi's sarcastic voice.

She rolled her eyes inelegantly. It seemed like she and the female lead had an extraordinary connection; how come they kept running into each other everywhere?

Hua Yue scoffed, "Everyone knows I betrayed Mingyue Manor, so what gives you the right to call me 'Senior Sister'? Former disciple of Mingyue Manor?"

Shi Xinyi choked. When she saw Hua Yue, she was reminded of the embarrassment she had experienced before. She was just a little angry and wanted to say something to shut her up. She didn't think too much about it.

"Hua Yue is joking. I have never been a member of Mingyue Manor. I just felt sorry for you, a woman, working so hard from dawn till dusk every day. Why are you speaking so harshly to me?"

Upon hearing Shi Xinyi's words, Hua Yue couldn't help but laugh so hard she bent over. She barely managed to suppress her laughter before saying, under the other's puzzled gaze, "You've only been here a few days, no wonder you don't know how prestigious it is to work at an inn. Do you think just anyone can work at an inn?"

Speaking of this, Hua Yue's tone was filled with pride, "The staff at the inn have easy jobs, generous pay, priority access to all attractions, and extra discounts. More importantly, I'm now the manager's man, who dares to bully me?"

"Oh, I almost forgot, you have quite a few men behind you, you're protected by others, and you'll never lack money, so naturally you won't care. Unlike us, who can only earn our own living?"

What Huayue didn't mention was that being a guesthouse employee comes with more than just these benefits; there are many hidden perks as well.
