She looked up at Hu Jiu, then suddenly looked away somewhat awkwardly. "I'm fine now. We can't go out today either. Let's wait for Uncle Rong's news." With that, An Ge turned and went back to her room, her back view giving the impression of fleeing in panic.
Hu Jiu withdrew his hand, feeling the warmth in his palm, and smiled helplessly.
I was too impatient.
"So you really have designs on the store manager." Chang Jin said to Hu Jiu with some displeasure as she watched An Ge's retreating figure.
Hu Jiu's smile faded, and he glanced at Chang Jin. "So what if I am? There's no rule saying I can't?"
“You know now is not a good time, and she will face many challenges in the future.”
"I know what I'm doing and I won't put her in danger."
“We know nothing about each other. If your identity is not appropriate, I will stop you even if it costs me my life. I believe Rongzhuo and the others will do the same.”
Since it concerned An Ge, Hu Jiu wasn't angry. "Don't worry, I care about her more than any of you. I won't let her suffer any injustice."
Inside the room, An Ge held her face in her hands, feeling that the blush on her face had not yet faded.
"Oh my god, I suddenly realized Hu Jiu is kind of flirtatious. An Ge, you lecherous woman, you don't even eat the grass near your burrow, why are you blushing? You're so pathetic!"
An Ge stomped her foot in frustration, letting out a long sigh to suppress her unease. She sat on the sofa, casually hugging a cushion to her chest, her mind unconsciously drifting to the image of Hu Jiu looking down at her.
"Beauty really does lead people astray, Hu Jiu, you male fox."
Soon, news of someone poisoning the inn spread among several core employees. Outwardly, everyone appeared calm, but secretly resolved to strengthen management in their respective areas.
Chang Jin didn't return until noon. "He's gone. Nobody knows where he went."
Upon hearing this, An Ge's heart sank again. The mission was only half complete; it seemed that only capturing the target would complete it.
More importantly, the enemy is in the shadows while we are in the open. There is such a hidden danger, and we never know what they might do next.
Just as An Ge was worrying, a group of people were galloping towards the inn.
"Sir, we'll arrive at the Immortal's Fate Inn in half a day. Shall we stay in the city tonight?"
Zhang Luo raised his hand to stop him, "No need. I heard that Prince Duan has been staying at the inn. Let's go and pay our respects first."
"yes!"
Everyone agreed and set off for Cangshan Mountain once again.
Even before reaching the inn, Zhang Luo could clearly sense the change.
It was already dark, and although they were deep in the mountains, they could still see smoke rising from the sky along the way, and many unfinished villages were bustling with activity.
The deeper we went into the Cangshan Mountains, the more people there were.
"M-Sir, look!" The subordinate stammered, startled.
Zhang Luo looked up and saw a tall, brightly lit building shining in the night sky. The lights were not ordinary; they were colorful and shot straight into the sky, illuminating the sky as if it were daytime.
"Walk!"
Zhang Luo gave the order, but the shock in his heart was beyond words.
Rumors circulated in the capital that Huai Xi City was protected by immortals, which he naturally didn't believe. But the changes along the way were so obvious that he couldn't help but wonder if immortals truly existed.
The doubts in my heart were only answered when I saw the extraordinary building.
As Zhang Luo pushed open the inn's door, he heard ethereal music and was greeted by a refreshing fragrance that made him feel as if he were in a dream.
An Yang was on duty at the front desk when he saw the group's attire and quickly went to greet them. "Do you gentlemen need a room? However, there is only one room available at the moment." Rooms have been in high demand lately; apart from some merchants who have checked out, almost everyone else stays regularly.
Zhang Luo looked at the young man before him, and without putting on any airs of an official, he cupped his hands and said politely, "We are from the Ministry of Justice. We heard that Prince Duan was resting here, so we came to pay our respects. But it seems that it is already too late."
"It's not even 8 o'clock yet, Prince Duan must still be awake. Should I wake him up?"
Zhang Luo didn't know what 8 o'clock meant, but judging from the boy's attitude, he figured he wouldn't bother him, so he politely said, "Thank you for your trouble."
Then he saw that the boy had not left, and just as he was wondering, he saw the boy produce a strange object, press it a few times, and say to it, "Someone has come to pay their respects to Prince Duan. He is from the Judicial Office and his name is Zhang Luo. Do you wish to see him?"
Just as Zhang Luo was about to ask, the boy said to him, "Please wait a moment, Prince Duan will send someone to pick you up."
If they weren't at the Immortal's Fate Inn, Zhang Luo would have thought the young man before him was joking. He had personally witnessed the young man not leaving, so how could he know about Prince Duan's affairs?
Just as Zhang Luo was hesitating whether to speak, he saw a person rushing over. He immediately recognized him as the steward of Prince Duan.
Zhang Luo was shocked! His gaze towards the boy was now filled with awe.
This person is indeed no ordinary person; this is probably a message from an immortal.
An Yang was already used to such looks, and simply greeted Butler Wang indifferently.
Since taking up his post at the inn, he has seen many high-ranking officials treat him kindly, showing none of the arrogant attitude he used to have.
At first, he was somewhat smug, but he quickly came to his senses and berated himself. From then on, he always remembered not to tarnish the reputation of the inn and never again displayed any arrogance.
Zhang Luo followed Steward Wang in a daze until he saw Prince Duan and then came to his senses.
"Your subject Zhang Luo of the Ministry of Justice greets Your Highness Prince Duan." Facing Prince Duan again, Zhang Luo's mindset had changed. If it were before, he could still treat the other party as an ordinary prince, but after witnessing the existence of the immortals, he undoubtedly equated Prince Duan with that being.
With immortals present, it's only a matter of time before His Highness Prince Duan ascends to a high position.
