Chapter 345 Paige Suffers Injustice

Errui and Li Laoshi hurried up the mountain.

Li Laoshi is usually talkative and cheerful, but in this situation, he can't help but complain about having to climb the mountain despite his injury.

But Xiaoman was injured today, so he wasn't in the mood to pretend to be crazy; he just wanted to know what to do next.

Actually, this isn't the first time anyone has seen a dead person, so they're no longer afraid.

During the chaos of war, Li Laoshi once led refugees into the mountains and watched as a group of people had their heads chopped off.

But back then we were forced into it; things are different now.

Once a person has a weakness, they also have armor. Even those on the fringes can step up in crucial moments. He doesn't want his current life to be disrupted.

Errui was even more distracted. Instead of thinking about killing someone with his own hands, he was preoccupied with how to tell Xiaoman's family that Xiaoman was injured in place of him and Xiaotian and that her life was still hanging by a thread.

It was just dawn, and thick fog filled the mountains and forests, with birdsong echoing softly in the morning.

Apart from the two men's panting as they climbed the mountain, the only sound was the rustling of the old mule kicking stones as they rolled down; they didn't notice anything amiss.

They had only gone halfway when suddenly a dark figure darted out of the mist and rushed toward them.

The sudden movement startled the two of them, and even the old mule was so frightened that it stumbled and almost lost its footing.

Looking up, I saw Peppa Pig, covered in dew from the leaves and with several dark red wounds, though the mud made it impossible to tell how bad they were.

It's obvious that he spent the night outside again, and that he even got into a fight with other wild boars before coming back.

This isn't the first or second time; as Peppa grew up, she got into many fights outside, and it was common for her to be injured.

As soon as she ran to Errui's side, Peppa nudged his hand and circled around him, wagging her little tail for comfort.

If Errui saw Peppa looking so disheveled normally, he would probably go and comfort her.

Having just endured a night of fighting and fear, and still worried about Xiaoman's injuries, Errui was already exhausted and had no mood to coax a pig.

Seeing that Peppa was still being mischievous and scary, he couldn't help but kick the wild boar: "Get away, I don't have time to play with you!"

This was just a habitual action during their usual playful fighting, but the wild boar froze instantly, standing still as if it were angry and waiting for someone to coax it.

But Errui continued home without looking back.

Li Laoshi shook his head and said to the mischievous Peiqi, "We don't have time to deal with you today, go play by yourself! Don't bother us, or you'll get a beating!" After saying that, he left too!

Seeing that the two of them had left, Paige huffed angrily.

He bent down and vigorously shoved a large clump of soil into the ground, scattering it everywhere. Then he vented his anger on the nearby low trees, smashing the leaves to pieces before finally stopping.

Instead of going home, it turned around and disappeared into the nearby woods, vanishing into the thick fog.

The family on the mountain had already gotten up and were busy with their own tasks.

A rooster flapped its wings, stood on a branch, and crowing loudly, while a group of hens below clucked incessantly.

Nini was still sleeping, and the little dog, Bear Sister, was bored, so she lay on the ground by herself, diligently chewing on a wooden stick.

The hungry pigs squealed loudly in their pen, banging on the fence and urging their owner to come and feed them.

Mornings are the busiest time; Dazhu and Chunfeng are running around like crazy.

Xiaoman has already started a fire to cook rice, and wisps of smoke are mixed with thick and thin white mist, creating a chaotic and undifferentiated atmosphere.

This mundane scene was part of Errui's already accustomed rural life.

But as he looked at it now, it was as if he had crawled back from hell, and his mood instantly felt peaceful and calm.

The old mule arrives home before the people, and its usual practice is to first walk around the yard before going to its trough to find food.

The old man sweeping the yard was surprised, and his expression turned serious.

The old mule came back too early!

Errui's family is in the village, they shouldn't be back so early. Could something have happened in the village?

He didn't even bother to feed the old mule; he hurried toward the intersection.

Something must have happened!

At the intersection, Errui suddenly saw Xiaoman coming towards him and was speechless for a moment.

Just then, Li Laoshi, upon seeing Xiaomanye, knelt down with a thud before Errui could even speak, crying out, "Grandpa! You almost couldn't see me!"

At this moment, he was still in a sling, with messy hair, looking just as disheveled as Paige who blocked his way.

Xiaomanye originally thought something had happened in the village, but he didn't think about the argument between Li Laoshi and someone.

His heart, which had been in his throat, relaxed again: "Honest, what are you doing? I heard you got stabbed yesterday, is it serious?"

Li Laoshi's wound "seemed" to have worsened, but he slumped over and said, "Grandpa, it's not serious, it's just a small cut!"

"Oh, you should rest if you're injured. What are you doing up here?"

When Xiaoman heard that it wasn't too hard, he saw that the man struggled a few times but couldn't get up, so he quickly came over to help him.

Errui felt Li Laoshi poking at him from behind, knowing that he had something to say to Xiaomanye alone, and immediately breathed a sigh of relief, saying, "I'll go find Brother Dazhu first!"

We should tell Brother Dazhu and Sister-in-law Chunfeng about Xiaoman first.

Beside the chicken coop, Errui found Xu Dazhu mixing chicken feed and briefly told him what had happened down the mountain.

Finally, he added, "Xiaoman has been sent to the Tian family and will be taken care of by them for now. My mother is also in the village. As long as Xiaoman's stitches are removed and she doesn't have a fever, she'll be fine!"

Upon hearing that Xiaoman was seriously injured, Xu Dazhu stopped mixing the chicken feed and repeatedly called out to Chunfeng, "Chunfeng, hurry, catch the chickens, pick the fattest ones, and the eggs too..."

Chunfeng was collecting the eggs laid yesterday with a basket by the chicken coop when she heard the noise and rushed over. As soon as she saw Errui, she asked, "Has something really happened?"

They stayed on the mountain, knowing that someone would harm their aunt's family. They were on edge all day and night, and couldn't even sleep soundly at night.

Seeing Errui at this moment put my mind at ease, but hearing about catching chickens made me nervous again.

Xu Dazhu said in a deep voice, "Xiaoman is injured, and seriously!"

"Ah!" Chunfeng exclaimed in shock, nearly dropping the basket in her hand.

As the eldest sister-in-law, she naturally knew her own importance in the family.

The two elderly people complained a lot about Xiaoman, but in their hearts, she was their lifeline.

It's not that they rely on Xiaoman to support them, but rather that the whole family depends on him to hold the fort.

If there's anything that Dazhu or he himself can't do in person, and they need Xiaoman to handle it.

That way, when Nini gets married in the future, she'll have a loving uncle to take care of her, and no one will dare to bully her.

"Chunfeng, tie up a few chickens, eggs, mushrooms, and Xiaoman's favorite smoked rabbit. We'll go to the village later. I'm going back to see my grandparents, so don't worry them!" Xu Dazhu said, then propped himself up on a small stool and started walking back.

Errui picked him up and carried him on his back: "Brother Dazhu, I'll carry you across!"

Normally, Dazhu wouldn't want anyone to carry him, but now he nodded and climbed onto Errui's back: "Okay, let's hurry back! Grandpa is fine, but I'm worried that Grandma won't be able to handle it!"

At this moment, the situation inside the house was exactly as Dazhu had feared.

Li Laoshi put it tactfully, but Xiaomanye had already learned that they had encountered thieves at Qingquan Bay and that Xiaoman was still calm despite being injured.

Just as Grandma Xiaoman stepped out of the kitchen, she heard the words, "Xiaoman wasn't awake when I left..." and immediately turned pale, collapsing to the ground.
