Chapter 119 Peppa's Journey Home

Upon discovering the mud puddle, Peppa Pig became even more excited. She immediately lay down in the mud and rummaged around, making mud fly everywhere. Her once smooth fur was instantly covered in mud.

Xu Errui and Xiaoman quickly stepped forward to stop him: "Peppa Pig, come here quickly, you'll have to wash it again if it gets dirty."

Jiang Zhi's face darkened: This pork belly is no longer acceptable!

Seeing this, I had a vague feeling that the little wild boar might be going back to its herd.

After all, it's a wild boar, and the herd of pigs is its true home. It's only temporarily being adopted by these people. Compared to its colorful braids, Peppa prefers these mud puddles.

Beside him, Wu Hongmao was still carefully observing the traces here.

He actually knew something about wild boars.

“This group of wild boars came here yesterday. They must have played here all day before going to the wheat field in the evening.”

“You encountered wild boars in the summer and killed several, so these wild boars still remember you.”

Wild boars are very wary; they won't show themselves if they smell humans. Now that we've found them, they'll likely abandon the path we just took and have to choose another one.

Xiaoman was somewhat disappointed. He had just been thinking of setting traps along the way they came: "Brother Wu, they've changed locations. How are we going to find the wild boars now?"

Jiang Zhi also felt that it was too easy to find.

Wu Hongmao looked at Peiqi, who was still rolling in the mud: "Wild boars can't live without mud pits. In the summer, that ditch at the mountain pass must be their bathhouse."

Now that the weather is getting colder, we've moved to this hillside. We can roll around in the mud, let it dry in the sun, and then immediately rub the mud and resin onto a tree.

As he spoke, he pointed to a large tree covered in mud not far away.

The tree roots there had been exposed by pigs.

Jiang Zhi understood what he meant: "You mean we've been here before, so the wild boars won't take the same path to the wheat field. But they'll definitely come to this muddy pond?"

Wu Hongmao nodded: "Yes, wild boar burrows usually have a main path and a side path."

Normally, there are at least three or four routes. If any one of them seems unusual, the person abandons it immediately, or waits several months or even half a year before trying again.

Just finding traces of wild boars is this troublesome.

Tsk tsk tsk, no wonder wild boars are the most troublesome wild animals for farmers.

They are destructive, cunning, and have high defense. When outnumbered, they can only flee when facing wild boars. When outnumbered, they are likely to miss their target.

Facing the enemy head-on is too dangerous.

Those who use packs of hunting dogs to kill wild boars almost always end up with both sides suffering heavy losses, often paying the price of killing one boar but losing two hunting dogs in the process.

It's best to use traps or snares to minimize the danger. Find the path first, then consider using traps.

However, they no longer had time to consider the trap; after rolling around in the mud, the little wild boars started running in one direction.

"Peppa!"

"Pork belly!"

The group exchanged glances; the little wild boar had discovered the pig's den.

Before Jiang Zhi and the others could react, the little wild boar had already rushed into a gentle slope covered with shrubs and vines.

This wild forest is overgrown with thorns and jagged rocks, with only a narrow path worn into it by a herd of pigs.

The thorns on the vines were not only extremely sharp, but also densely packed, forcing Jiang Zhi and the others to slow down.

Damn it!

With its thick mud armor and agile movements, the wild boar fearlessly darted through the thorn bushes, and soon Jiang Zhi couldn't even hear its voice anymore.

Should we continue pursuing them?

Jiang Zhi and his group stopped at the edge of a steep slope. The slope wasn't high, but if they went any further down, they might run into a herd of wild boars.

We cannot put seven people in danger for the sake of a pig; we must proceed with caution.

Xiang Dejin and Xu Errui took out their machetes, preparing to cut through the thorns to make a path.

The thick layer of fallen leaves in the forest felt soft underfoot, and you never knew when you might step into a hole.

"Forget it, let's go back!" Jiang Zhi was responsible for the safety of the group.

Xu Errui looked in the direction the little wild boar had disappeared and said regretfully, "Peppa Pig just ran away like that!"

Xiaoman also said, "If I had known we were going to run away, I should have been ruthless and killed them to eat meat. My grandpa said that wild boars can't be domesticated. If we don't run away now, we'll have to run away when they grow up anyway."

That's what they say. They've been talking about eating meat for months, but no one can bring themselves to do it. This morning, Xiaoman even cooked sweet potato peels for Peiqi.

Now that they've run away, this is the only way!

They didn't find the wild boar herd, and the baby boars even escaped. It was a real loss, so the group could only turn around dejectedly and prepare to go back.

But just then, a scream like a pig being slaughtered came from the bottom of the steep slope.

"Oh no! Peppa's been bullied!"

The group stopped instantly, clearly unwilling to abandon Ono.

Jiang Zhi gritted her teeth: "No, we still have to wait for a result. Maybe the pork belly will come back. If it does, we'll definitely make it into pork belly."

The group stopped and stood guard at the top of the steep slope, waiting for the little wild boar to return on its own.

At this moment, in the forest at the foot of the steep slope, thick branches were piled up like a mountain, clearly collected on purpose, resembling a castle.

Beneath the tree branch castle, a group of tiny piglets, barely bigger than the palm of a hand, were staring blankly outside.

A young wild boar running back to its homeland is being blocked by a group of wild boars.

Although these pigs are still sub-adults like Peppa Pig, there are so many of them that if Jiang Zhi saw them, she would definitely pick up Peppa Pig and run away. There are more than a dozen of them, big and small.

Each of these wild boars stared intently at the little boar with indifferent eyes, emitting low grunts as if warning it not to cross the line.

The sound frightened the little wild boar, and it dared not go any further.

It couldn't understand why these creatures, which were clearly its own kind, were so hostile towards it.

Before the little wild boar could even come over and get close, the group of pigs blocking their way moved.

They surrounded the little wild boar and began to bite and attack it.

Among this group of pigs of the same age, the little wild boar was much larger than the other pigs, but it was clearly inexperienced in fighting. After only a few moves, its ears were torn and it screamed in pain.

However, even though the wild boar had lived with humans for several months, it still retained its wild nature.

The pain instantly unleashed its full power. Relying on its stronger body compared to others, it quickly turned the tide, taking on two opponents at once, relentlessly chasing and gnawing at them until it gained the upper hand. It wasn't afraid of even a relentless battle.

On the steep slope, Jiang Zhi and the others could clearly hear the pigs fighting below.

"What should we do? Should we go down and rescue Peiqi?" Jiang Zhi looked anxiously at the steep slope in front of her, which was full of thorns.

The fighting among the pigs quickly stopped, and the little wild boars appeared in the gaps between the trees.

"Auntie, look over there! Peppa Pig is over there!" Xiaoman shouted, pointing down below.

A large group of wild boars suddenly appeared out of the woods. Peppa Pig was the fastest to run, followed by the rest of the wild boars.

Among them was a sow that had just given birth, with a group of baby wild boars at her feet.

The sow was much larger than the other wild boars, and her ferocious appearance was awe-inspiring.

At this moment, it made threatening "hoohoo" sounds, and white foam appeared at the corners of its mouth, as if it might attack the little wild boar at any moment.

"Shout! Shout loudly!" Jiang Zhi used the branch in her hand to whip the grass hard, making a sound.

Xiaoman and Xiang Dejin picked up stones and threw them down, shouting, "Peppa Pig, Pork Belly! Come back here!"

The sudden appearance of human voices startled the sow who had been chasing after them, and she dared not pursue them any further, quickly retreating back into the woods with her piglets.

The little wild boar also scurried up the steep slope, covered in blood, and fled back to Jiang Zhi's side.
