Chapter 18 Challenge Invitation

Chapter 18 Challenge Invitation

After Xiao Wen finished speaking, he drove away in his red-faced robot, leaving behind only a robot and a monitoring device flying overhead.

Zhou Jiu pursed his lips. The instructions for this set of actions were all very basic, but it was very important to find the right time to change the instructions. One wrong move and he would fall or be hit by that big iron block. Stepping up from the net was also very difficult. Mechs are not human bodies. Humans can easily control their own bodies, but what would it feel like for a mech to touch the net and then step down? These things still need to be tested.

Zhou Jiu started by practicing the connection of these basic instructions in place, letting his hands get a feel for it.

Someone had already eagerly taken on the challenge of this project. It was a heavy-duty, offensive mech, just like hers. Zhou Jiu looked over and smoothly traversed the wall. The next thing she did was go online. However, just as the entire mech was on the net, she lost her footing. She grabbed the net with both hands, swung around in the air for a couple of seconds, and then found the right foot to land.

Zhou Jiu withdrew his gaze and continued to focus on his training. After becoming familiar with the instructions, Zhou Jiu joined in, becoming one of the many who were training online.

"Move to the side a bit," Lin Xiu's voice came from the light mech behind him.

"Find your own way. If your skills aren't good enough, I can't let you pass." Zhou Jiu felt the mecha landing on the net rope and climbed up. Although he said that, he still moved to the side to make enough room for Lin Xiu's mecha.

"Smiling Tiger is really ruthless. That series of moves could be rated as a professional mecha operator at level B. Using it to train us rookies is a real waste of his talent." Zhang Ji kept grumbling from behind, still struggling with the first obstacle wall.

"This is nothing! Look at Feng Ziyue at the front. During summer camp, her mecha score wasn't as good as Ye Yang's. Now she's already on the single pole gliding. I bet Ye Yang and Lu Qi will be there soon too." Zhou Jiu heard a slightly unfamiliar voice. She thought for a moment about the classmates she knew and guessed that this was probably a classmate who had participated in the summer camp training together.

Before attempting the single-pole skating challenge, Feng Ziyue stopped and addressed Zhou Jiu via the public channel, saying, "Zhou Jiu, I challenge you! I lost the hand-to-hand combat a few days ago; I was simply outmatched. Now I challenge you to a race to the finish line. Will you accept?"

Feng Ziyue's mecha is a light, long-range attack type, focusing on agility and flexibility. The silver-white mecha is tilting its head upwards, much like Feng Ziyue who walked away proudly after losing that day.

Zhou Jiu chuckled lightly: "Alright, what's the stake? I don't gamble on contests without stakes."

“Breakfast for a week.” Feng Ziyue made the number 1 with her mecha arm, demonstrating her control over the mecha.

"I agree." Although she didn't know why Feng Ziyue had been eyeing her, Zhou Jiu didn't sense any ill will from Feng Ziyue, so she agreed directly.

"I won't bully you. After you've gone through it once, we'll go back to the starting point and compete again. What do you think?"

"Of course," Zhou Jiu replied enthusiastically. Feng Ziyue had given her time to familiarize herself with the competition, and her greatest strength was her learning ability; she wouldn't lose.

Feng Ziyue skillfully timed her jump perfectly to get through the single-pole obstacle, and then leaped onto the final "bounce wall," but this time she didn't get through smoothly and fell down.

Zhou Jiu stopped paying attention to Feng Ziyue's progress. She was focused on her own training and found the frequency of the mecha's swaying when she stepped on the net rope. She successfully input the command and climbed over the net rope obstacle. The single pole obstacle was easier for Zhou Jiu, who was sensitive and good at subtle things. The only inconvenience was that when the heavy mecha jumped up, it needed to be given an upward acceleration force, otherwise it would cause a jam between the roller skates and the bamboo pole.

As for the last bumpy wall, Zhou Jiu had just climbed up two mecha arms when he was shaken off.

Zhou Jiu called the last wall the "Dian Dian Wall." Why did he call it that? Because when Zhou Jiu went up, he found that the wall was movable. Every ten centimeters, it was constantly rotating slightly in the opposite direction, causing anything he was holding onto to tremble and fall down.

After carefully recalling Instructor Xiao Wen's movements, Zhou Jiu readjusted and climbed the bouncy wall again. At this moment, Feng Ziyue had already returned to the beginning of the first project and started the next one. Zhou Jiu focused his gaze on the wall in front of him, paying attention to the spiral pattern on the wall. He tentatively put the mecha's arm on the wall, turning it into a suction cup. When moving, he quickly switched arms, and at the same time, the mecha's legs followed. By paying attention to the landing amplitude and the timing of the spiral rotation, he could steadily grip the bouncy wall, testing his proficiency in changing the mecha's hand control commands.

After maneuvering the mecha into a human form through the small window, Zhou Jiu lost his balance and fell off again. He tried a third time, and by then, he had a better grasp of the mecha's arm extension.

After familiarizing himself with the machine gun once more, Zhou Jiu returned to his original spot, moved the mech's fingers, and beckoned three fingers back to Feng Ziyue, who was already waiting in place, saying, "Feng Ziyue, I'm ready, come on."

Lin Xiu had successfully passed through the small window, rolled over and approached Sun You, and together they stood behind Zhou Jiu and gave him a cheering gesture.

"Let me start, let me say it," Zhang Ji chimed in from behind.

"3, 2, 1, start."

The two started at the same time and passed the first obstacle in the same amount of time. When they reached the rope net, Feng Ziyue was about two seconds behind. However, when they reached the next single pole, Feng Ziyue caught up. Finally, they climbed up the bumpy wall side by side. When Zhou Jiu rolled over through the small window above, she knew she had lost. She made a slight mistake when she rolled into the window.

Feng Ziyue opened the mecha cockpit, revealing her face, and said with a smile, "Although I benefited from the light mecha, I'm definitely going to treat you to breakfast for a week. You can also bet with me in the next combat class. I look forward to you letting me treat you to breakfast for a week."

Zhou Jiu also opened the mecha's inner cabin and the helmet's front visor, and praised without reservation: "Your mecha piloting is amazing. I look forward to the day I beat you."

Feng Ziyue made no attempt to hide her smile: "I won because of my experience. I've watched you fight with your little beasts, from the beginning to becoming proficient. You are the most talented person I've ever seen. I hope I can be your teammate in the next school mecha competition."

Zhou Jiu smiled and replied, "Of course, if there's an opportunity."

After the conversation, Zhou Jiu began repeating these training steps again.
