Chapter 21 Progress

Chapter 21 Progress

Zhou Jiu took another sip of soda. She was so nervous, even more nervous than when she dropped the copper coin, if she hadn't misunderstood.

"Have you had dinner?" Chu Zhao asked.

Zhou Jiu shook his head: "Not yet, I want to eat something light."

Chu Zhao looked at the meat skewers and asked, "We have a day off today, how about we go to Central Street for a nice meal?"

"Um?"

"Should we go? It's my treat, senior. Why not take advantage of his generosity?"

Zhou Jiu unconsciously puffed out her cheeks, her eyes lighting up. Hmm? What suddenly happened? Does she no longer need to pursue him?

“Let’s go.” Zhou Jiu nodded.

Zhou Jiushou sent a message to Lin Xiu on the personal terminal, saying that she was not coming because she had something to do on Planet A, and then she and Chu Zhao went out.

Seeing how quickly Zhou Jiu had made up her mind, Chu Zhao suddenly asked, "Why are you being so obedient? Aren't you afraid I'll kidnap you?"

Zhou Jiu looked up at Chu Zhao and said, "I just look well-behaved."

"Yes, I watched your video, and it was very..." Chu Zhao honestly admitted.

"Very what?"

"I'm thinking of an adjective, 'unrestrained beauty'?" Chu Zhao admitted that Zhou Jiu's eyes were truly beautiful in the video of him charging towards the alien beast, completely different from his usual well-behaved appearance.

“…Then thank you for the compliment, senior.” Zhou Jiu felt that the unexpected compliment was rather perfunctory, but she didn’t want to offer her opinion before they were very familiar with each other. For now, she wanted to be more reserved, after all, he was a boy she liked.

On Central Street, Zhou Jiu and Chu Zhao, who had just finished dinner, strolled along the bustling street. They sat on a bench on the street and chatted casually, and time passed quickly.

Zhou Jiu checked the time; it was almost time. Before he could speak, Chu Zhao asked, "Are you busy later?"

"Yes, my ticket is for tonight, I'm going to Planet A."

Chu Zhao stood up and said, "Let's go, I'll see you off."

Zhou Jiu smiled and blinked, "I'm so sorry."

"...I would have found it more believable if you hadn't been laughing when you said it, you little liar."

Zhou Jiu choked again, "I didn't mean to lie. Wasn't it just a coincidence that we met later?"

"I'm not blaming you, your voice is quite distinctive." Chu Zhao recalled that phone call.

Zhou Jiu suddenly remembered and asked, "Do you consider it harassment when I send you so many messages?"

Chu Zhao looked at Zhou Jiu for a long time before saying, "No, what you said before didn't bother me, but it did affect me. Actually, I was a little disappointed when my friend found out your information."

"Huh? Because of age?" Zhou Jiu asked curiously.

Chu Zhao didn't answer, but tapped Zhou Jiu's forehead: "I'll tell you later."

"Aren't you just teasing us?" Zhou Jiu muttered.

Sitting on the interstellar flight, Zhou Jiu thought about the whole day and was in a good mood. He then began his daily training in his mental palace.

Her memories became clearer and clearer as she followed the path of her childhood memories.

After completing the training, Zhou Jiu fell asleep amidst a flood of past memories.

The "duang" sound woke Zhou Jiu up. Zhou Jiu blinked his dry eyes, which were still a little sore from just waking up, and looked ahead. It turned out to be a couple with a toddler.

Zhou Jiu glanced at the time; they were almost there. He didn't pay much attention to the couple.

The child suddenly started crying loudly, and Zhou Jiu's gaze shifted to the side. When they arrived at Planet A, as Zhou Jiu disembarked, her eyes met those of the child and the couple, and she paused for a moment. She quickly walked to the front, spoke with the interstellar flight crew, and was then asked to stay behind by them.

Zhou Jiu rubbed her temples; she hadn't slept well at all. She watched as the crew brought up the monitors on the starship.

"Madam, our investigation has confirmed that their identities are accurate. How did you determine that these two passengers were abducting a child?" the Starship Police officer asked Zhou Jiu.

"I think your priority should be to stop them, not to interrogate me here. Whether it's true or not, I called the police because I discovered it, but all of this has nothing to do with me. I refuse to answer. If there's nothing else, I'm leaving." Zhou Jiu's attitude was firm. What was the point of asking her?

"Madam, you need to cooperate with our arrangements," the flight attendant said.

"I'm sorry, but according to interstellar law, you have no right to detain me." Zhou Jiu watched the couple and child leave the starship without any hindrance and asked with slight surprise, "You just let them leave the starship without even conducting any investigation?"

"They are our VIP users, ma'am. This is your first time aboard a starship, and our clients are unhappy with your malicious report against them. We apologize, but we need to investigate you." The seemingly friendly attitude was anything but friendly.

The personal terminal beeped, and just as Zhou Jiu was about to answer it, he saw the starship police officer's hand about to stop him. He caught the personal terminal with one hand and held a gun in the other, confronting him. "9, have you arrived? I saw that this flight has arrived."

"They've been detained by the crew. Can you help me find them? Also, I just saw a couple abducting a child. Can you call the police? I suspect the crew is colluding with them."

As Zhou Jiu uttered those words, the other party's gun was already aimed at him. Zhou Jiu did not fire, but reacted before the other party could move, dodging the shot and leaping over the table to successfully knock the other party's weapon away and take him hostage.

"Sorry, you'll have to wait for the police to arrive." Zhou Jiu pulled the person to the door, holding their hand with one hand and holding a gun in the other, watching outside to prevent the other party from coming over.

Zhou Jiu locked the door from the inside. After seeing Saiwei arrive with the police on the surveillance footage, Zhou Jiu put away his gun, placed the starship crew member who had been knocked unconscious on a chair, made him lie face down, and then sat obediently in his original position.

The police, tense and armed, burst through the door. Zhou Jiu spread his arms out, indicating that he posed no threat.

Saiwei also came in, and his appearance was not much different from the virtual character in the virtual space. "Nine, are you alright?"

Zhou Jiu shook his head, looked at the police chief, and said, "The couple in seats 62A and 62C on this interstellar flight abducted a child. After I reported them, they were detained by the crew and shot when I questioned them."

Zhou Jiu pointed to the spot on the ground where the shooting had taken place, and then to the gun lying in the corner. "I knocked him unconscious, but I hope you can investigate the couple first. The child might be in danger later."

After gesturing to the officers behind him to take evidence, the head officer said, "We have already investigated the passengers on this flight. Would you mind coming to the police station with us to make a statement, ma'am?"

Zhou Jiu looked at Saiwei and said, "I'll tell you the clues. I'll go to the police station tomorrow morning when it's convenient for me. I have some urgent business to attend to right now."

After some negotiation, the two safely departed from the starship.
