Chapter 44 Hot Sauce
"Tell me your thoughts."
Zhou Jiu wasn't angry, but he felt somewhat helpless about Sun You's actions.
Sun You remained calm and composed. After pouring each of the three a glass of cool water, he also sat down.
“I know your goals. We will not interfere with each other and will benefit each other.” Sun You separated himself from the three small teams.
Zhou Jiu's eyes flickered slightly; it wasn't entirely without impact.
Zhou Jiu didn't think too much about Sun You's words. Suddenly, he was a little distracted and thought of the divination she had performed for him: imprisonment.
She could only make shallow calculations about herself, not about others, and couldn't predict the specific time and place. She couldn't help but wonder if she would be imprisoned as an undercover agent.
Zhou Jiu couldn't help but smile, amused by his own imagination.
"I need you to help me calculate the exact location of Gela Baird. If that's not possible, I can contact the Volunteer Army and pay them to take it." After seeing Zhou Jiu's smile, Sun You hesitated slightly before saying this.
Lin Xiu picked up a glass of water, sat in the corner and drank it quietly, watching the two of them without making any move.
"Does the Volunteer Army have money?" Zhou Jiu raised an eyebrow. A poor army with no tax revenue, a disorganized army that relied on scavenging to force a certain amount of resources, she didn't quite believe that the Volunteer Army would pay.
Sun You fell silent.
Zhou Jiulue shrugged, a slight smile playing on his lips: "If Ye Qing is brought down, who do you think will benefit? This is an internal matter of the First Army. The ownership of Sprague Star has already been decided, so what else is there to fight for? The only possibility is that someone within the Volunteer Army is colluding with people from the First Military Region."
“It’s common knowledge that the First Military Region is the richest,” Zhou Jiu added.
“One million for each message. I know you can figure out Gela Baird’s location.” Sun You offered no further explanation for Zhou Jiu’s statement and made the offer directly.
Zhou Jiu looked at Sun You, found the loophole in Sun You's words, and said, "You said before that this was a mission given to me by the Volunteer Army, so how could it possibly provide funding? Tell me, who ultimately paid for it?"
Sun You remained silent.
Lin Xiu held the cup in his hand, and his expression changed slightly.
"It's not the money we invested with you before, is it?" Zhou Jiu noticed Sun You's guilty conscience and made a casual guess.
"Huh? I guessed right?" Zhou Jiu said with a hint of surprise before Sun You could offer any explanation.
Lin Xiu also sat back down.
Zhou Jiulue was silent for a moment, then asked, "What have they found on you, or what have they found on us?"
Sun You's pupils changed slightly for a moment, and her voice was a little hoarse: "I'm sorry, I don't really want to say this, and I know you're short of money. The million I mentioned won't be taken from your share."
"You go back to them first, and we'll talk in a few days. I'm still quite slow at calculating more precise locations."
Zhou Jiu had an idea. She remembered that Xiao Wen had specifically sought her out before, and she wanted to see what this troublesome person had taken that had led to the scramble among the parties.
"Okay, sure." After saying that, Sun You took her cup and went back to her room.
Zhou Jiu watched Sun You's retreating figure, then shifted his gaze to Lin Xiu, stroking Qi Qi's head as he asked, "Did you tell Youyou that we're short of money?"
Qi Qi's gaze also fell on Lin Xiu. Lin Xiu felt a chill and couldn't help but ask, "Your spiritual power has increased again? Why do I feel so cold?"
Zhou Jiu looked down and gently tapped Qi Qi's forehead. "Stop fooling around."
Lin Xiu couldn't see Qi Qi, but he could see Zhou Jiu's hand making a tapping gesture in mid-air. He couldn't help but take a step back. "Zhou Jiu, don't scare me, is there a ghost?"
“Please call him Qiqi. He’s an energy being, not a ghost. Don’t be too superstitious,” Zhou Jiu emphasized.
"You're just a fortune teller and talisman drawer, and you're telling me not to be too superstitious!" Lin Xiu's surprised tone was somewhat exaggerated.
"This is science, related to magnetic field energy, a special energy body formed by feng shui energy. Runes and divination are all like this. Please learn more, young man."
"Tch, I'm not arguing with you anymore. You always have such twisted logic on this," Lin Xiu retorted.
"Don't change the subject. Haven't you noticed something's been going on with Youyou lately?" Zhou Jiu asked.
“Going to the ancient planet is expensive, and we didn’t deliberately hide our actions from Youyou. With her keen observation skills, she’ll find out easily.”
"As for the abnormality, well, it's been like that ever since you two had that fight during new recruit training. I thought it was because of you."
After hearing Lin Xiu's words, Zhou Jiu couldn't help but roll her eyes. "You're such a careless boyfriend."
"You're not being a very thoughtful friend," Lin Xiu retorted habitually.
"Are you really going to tell me? Don't you hate the Volunteer Army?" Lin Xiu asked quickly.
"It's not that I hate it. It's just that being forced to do chores for them when I was a child doesn't align with my values, and it feels like I'm being coerced, so I don't really like it."
Zhou Jiu spoke of her feelings about the Volunteer Army, which were of course far more than that. She remembered the deaths of several comrades. Sometimes, some things are not forgotten as we grow up, but rather deepen with the passage of time.
"As for Gela Baird, I'll call you in a couple of days if there's any action." Zhou Jiu only had a small idea at the moment.
"Okay," Lin Xiu said.
The group returned to their respective rooms, and around noon, the doorbell rang.
Zhou Jiu came out of the room and opened the door; it was Si Xi again.
"I brought three lunches, please eat first. You should have received the news about the campus event by now, right? It starts at 3 PM, and I'll pick you up at 2:30 PM." Sisi put down her things, said this, and quickly left.
Lin Xiu caught up with Si Xi's departing figure.
"They escaped so quickly, it's like we were a flood," Lin Xiu clicked his tongue.
Zhou Jiu then remembered that the jammer was still on. She took out the bell and turned it off, thinking to herself: Lin Xiu and Sun You didn't ask her to turn off the jammer either, so they were probably both thinking about what just happened.
Zhou Jiu put away the bell and checked the seven-person group chat on his personal terminal. The six of them, along with one of Xiao Wen's groups, saw the notification.
When Zhou Jiu saw Sun You come out of the room, her eyelids slightly swollen upon closer inspection, she pursed her lips, hesitated, and then decided to pretend she hadn't seen her.
"There's an event at 3 o'clock in the auditorium of Spruce High School that we need to attend. Let's eat first, then we can start working on the mascot," Zhou Jiu joked.
Lin Xiu didn't stop working as soon as he came over. He opened the lunchbox and called out to Sun You, "Youyou, take out the peanut butter you packed. I want some."
"Youyou, and my chili sauce too, I want some too." Seeing the open lunchbox and the extremely bland food, Zhou Jiu naturally asked Sun You for some as well.
"Oh, I'll go get it." Sun You turned and went back into the house, responding naturally.
