Chapter 146 An Awkward Meeting

The two men were adept at both open and veiled insults, their words laced with barbs aimed at each other.

For the first time, Lu Mingming realized just how powerful the sarcastic and unsettling banter between men could be.

As the two were talking to each other, another knock sounded on the door.

Lu Yan sat back down, his movements still composed: "How scared are you? You need help coming to rescue you one by one."

Orannal slowly straightened his clothes, retorting defiantly, "I think it's your underlings who were afraid you'd die and rushed over to save you."

The door was pushed open.

"I hope I haven't disturbed your enjoyment?"

The voice was so unpleasant that everyone present frowned. The young boss peeked half his head out from outside the door, holding a jade-bone fan in his hand.

Turns out he was a small business owner.

Lu Mingming suddenly thought of the scales on the little boss's hand, and her feelings were quite complicated.

The small business owner was not afraid at all. Under the gaze of the two imposing big shots, he became the delicate balance point between the two sides.

He smiled and said, "I'm here to tell Mr. Lu Yan about the mermaid treasure."

"Just tell me directly."

Orannal composed himself, sat in the massage chair, drank warm water, and calmed his breathing.

Lu Yan waved his hand, indicating that he no longer cared.

"The news about the mermaid treasure is genuine. It was told to me by a mermaid, so I can assure everyone that it is absolutely true."

The small business owner swore repeatedly, but failed to gain attention.

"The message he left me was: I must deliver it in person, because I am his savior."

The small business owner was completely unaware of the dangers of knowing a mermaid, and made no secret of his desire to get a share of the profits.

"If Xingluoqibu agrees, I'll go back and pack my bags first. Call me when you're ready to leave. Also, you can ask me about that free message anytime."

"After all that talk, you still haven't said anything."

The bald man muttered resentfully.

The small business owner wasn't angry at all in front of the big spender; he still had that same smiling face.

"Sure. As long as you're not afraid of dying."

Lu Yan calmly gave the answer.

"Okay, I'll be waiting for your news."

The young boss, just like his appearance, was impulsive and energetic, like a mature but immature child.

He turned to leave happily, but suddenly stopped, his gaze fixed on Lu Mingming, staring intently at him.

Meeting those inorganic eyes, Lu Mingming stiffly waved.

"Oh, it's you. I didn't expect you to be someone close to a prince in the Alliance..."

The small business owner paused deliberately for a moment.

Lu Mingming subconsciously touched his earlobe.

Aunt Shi said he was all-knowing and all-powerful, could he possibly know her original identity?

Orannal, who was standing nearby, inadvertently saw Lu Mingming making a habitual gesture, and his pupils suddenly contracted.

In his memory, someone liked to make this little gesture when they were nervous.

Orannal eagerly leaned closer to take a look, only to be rendered speechless for a brief moment by a dark, indistinct face.

"...Staff!"

The young boss covered his mouth and chuckled after finishing his prank.

"If you're looking for cubs, bring money quickly. Otherwise, I'll be leaving with 'Starry Sky'."

The young boss left the room in suspense before completely exiting.

Only Lu Mingming remained, his forehead beaded with cold sweat, facing the probing gazes of the four men.

"Looking for cubs? What cubs?!"

This was the most harmonious time Lu Yan and Oranal had ever worked together.
