Chapter Ninety-Five: Barbecue in Progress

The C-level examination room reeked of a foul odor, and the invigilators on the podium came down to patrol as required.

The two stood in a line to watch all the candidates' performances, offering their comments from time to time.

Some candidates' rooms were a mess, with meat cut into chunks and stir-fried directly with celery. The pungent smell of snails and mutton combined with the strong flavor of celery, creating a unique taste.

The two proctors covered their noses with their sleeves, unwilling to go down that road again.

Go inside.

Some test takers planned to dip the meat in plain water, but after using cooking wine to initially remove the fishy smell, some flavor still remained. They used half a bottle at a time and poured the wine over the meat twice, eventually turning it into meat that tasted like cooking wine.

The examiners, fearing they might disturb the candidates in the examination room, communicated in a mental space.

Three-meter woman: "I feel like no one in exam room C will be able to get a high score and get extra points in the competition this time."

"Hey, you'll get used to it. Treat C and D like they're just here to have fun. If you want to see their real skills, you have to go to the A-level exam room."

I heard that the younger brother of the Elf Star Prince has been selected as one of this batch of streamers, and he's in the same exam room as Angelina's cousin, who was ranked number one last year. I'm so envious of the examiners who got to see it in person!

The short man sighed.

The tall woman agreed: "If I could try their food, even just a bite, all this work would be worth it."

The two people discussed it harmoniously.

The short man suddenly stopped and pointed at a certain room:

"See? What did I tell you? It's all a mess! Putting so many charcoal pieces in there, aren't you afraid of burning the room down?" (cascoo.net)

The two proctors shook their heads in disappointment and left the room.

The streamer in that room was Lu Mingming.

Unlike when you're distracted by comments in a live stream, and you don't need to listen to the host or other people's evaluations, Lu Mingming focused entirely on the exam.

If she could read minds and know what the two proctors were thinking, she would simply ignore them and continue on the path she believed in.

Lu Mingming calmly poured the cooked snails and mutton into a porcelain basin, sprinkled in a small amount of Sichuan peppercorns, and brought it to a boil again.

The spicy and stimulating flavor gradually seeps into the snail and mutton, removing most of the last trace of the meat's fishy smell, leaving behind the delightful numbing sensation of Sichuan peppercorns hidden within.

While the meat was being marinated a second time, Lu Mingming asked the staff for some dried plums to make plum juice.

This time it's frozen, and we'll take it out of the freezer when the competition is almost over.

The icy-cold and refreshing plum juice, paired with grilled meat, is the perfect way to relieve the spiciness and whet the appetite.

As soon as the plum juice was finished, steam rose from the pot next to it.

Strangely enough, snail meat has a muttony smell that matches the smell of mutton, and snail meat is not easy to cook until it is soft. I really don't understand how this breed was hybridized.

Lu Mingming weighed out black pepper powder, chili powder, cumin, and egg white, mixed them evenly to make a suitable seasoning, and then used it to marinate the snails and mutton.

Egg whites make the meat more tender and delicious, while other spices, while satisfying the taste buds, also mask their own rich flavors.

Lu Mingming wiped the fine beads of sweat from his forehead with his sleeve.

The exam room smelled of all sorts of things, and there was no air conditioning to cool it down. In particular, it was unbearably hot when she turned on the charcoal fire to prepare a barbecue.

Two-thirds of the fluorescent hourglass on the podium had fallen, and students in the C-level exam room began to ring the bell signaling the end of the exam.

The staff will put the prepared dishes into their respective insulated boxes and lead the candidates out to wait for the selection.

As most test takers passed by the room filled with the smoke of fire, they couldn't help but crane their necks to peek inside, wondering what kind of strange thing people were doing.

A baking tray was lined with aluminum foil, and Lu Mingming laid out the marinated snails and lamb meat one by one.

The charcoal fire below gradually intensified, and the flames slowly grilled the lamb around the iron plate. The drifting smoke did not affect the flavor of the meat itself, but instead added a touch of smokiness.

Meat cut into small strips is easy to grill quickly and evenly. A layer of sizzling oil gradually seeps out from the pink meat surface, dripping down the smooth surface onto the aluminum foil and forming a small puddle of oil.

As time goes by, the grilled meat gradually becomes charred and crispy, with both sides displaying an enticing ginger-brown color. It exudes a unique grilled meat aroma from the inside out, with a perfect balance of numbing spiciness and fresh fragrance.

The presence of aluminum foil prevented the food from burning or charring.

"Check if it's cooked through."

Lu Mingming took a knife and fork and separated the roasted meat to take a look. The tender inner layer with light pink meat core was clearly visible, and a strange aroma wafted and permeated the entire C-level examination room.

The short proctor, who was dozing off on the podium, twitched his nose and faintly smelled a divine fragrance. He was startled awake and looked around for it.

"Was this made by students in an A-level exam room... or a B-level exam room? Where did that wonderful aroma come from?"

The short man muttered to himself as he quickly walked to the door, opened it, and went to check the situation.

The corridor was empty, but filled with the awful smell of snails and mutton from the various examination rooms, forcing him to disgustedly retract his foot, which had only stepped halfway out, and return to his original position.
