Chapter 222 Customization for Becoming a God (End)

Inside the pure black cubicle, the only wooden door slowly opened in front of Xiao Cheng.

It looked unremarkable, and behind the door was another empty, black compartment.

"Is this the core you're talking about?" She looked at "Fang He" beside her with some suspicion.

He didn't answer, but instead raised his arm in an inviting gesture, and waited quietly without saying a word.

Xiao Cheng saw no need to stand there at the door, so she gripped the dagger in her hand and stepped inside.

With one step, the scene before my eyes suddenly changed. The entire compartment began to gradually blur and disintegrate, and fine fluorescent light rose upwards, gathering and outlining the shape of a giant eyeball against a pitch-black background.

Xiao Cheng felt as if she were standing in mid-air, with an abyss below that seemed to have no bottom.

Like a curtain unfolding, countless tiny squares appear one after another, each shimmering with a pale blue glow, gathering around the eye like stars surrounding the moon.

The eyeball beat like a heart, with scattered black spots slowly spreading across its surface and constantly penetrating deeper into the eyeball.

These dark spots, like termites, devour the energy in the eyeball. The eyeball becomes increasingly shriveled and fragile at a visible rate.

Large swaths of small squares suddenly dimmed, until the last one quietly crumbled.

Silence fell over the surroundings, and the eyeballs shrank to their smallest size, making it almost impossible to discern their original appearance.

Suddenly, it began to hum slightly, and the vibration became more and more intense until it finally seemed to break through a certain critical point, and everything came to an abrupt stop.

Grayish-white dust peeled off the shriveled eyeballs, scattering and billowing, obscuring the sky, like scattered ashes.

Once all the dust has fallen off, the eyeball disappears, replaced by a black box with a restrained glow.

It floated there silently, slowly absorbing all the light, appearing darker than darkness itself, giving people a strange and terrifying sense of oppression.

An invisible barrier pushed open in all directions, completely sealing off this space.

Thump—

Thump, thump—

The increasingly rapid heartbeat echoed here. Xiao Cheng turned his head as if sensing something, and saw the female merman with a long and gorgeous fish tail leaning against the outside of the barrier, smiling and waving at him.

Then she folded two fingers and made a gesture for the number three.

three.

The third bet.

Then her body instantly turned into a bubble and exploded silently.

"Welcome to the High-Dimensional Core."

Fang He walked up to Xiao Cheng slowly and bowed deeply in a very gentlemanly manner.

“I received life because I embodied His will, and I guided you here on behalf of His will. This is His final wager with you, His final test for you. Before He perishes, if you defeat Him, you will be able to inherit Him.”

"Is this what they call the customized path to godhood?"

Xiao Cheng has roughly figured out what's going on with this dungeon.

According to the original plan, the siblings Nineteen and his sister eventually cleared the dungeon, but because of the so-called experience beads, they were also corrupted by the dungeon's consciousness and could only stay in the dungeon, becoming NPCs and gradually transforming into mermaids.

Using the Black Box, they recreated the City of God on the basis of the original dungeon, which was Hell, and selected players to enter it, thus providing energy to the Black Box.

But they are essentially just players, and they simply cannot resist the dungeon's consciousness for long. The nineteenth one, who controls Hell, has been corrupted to a deeper degree, which is why he has become in that state of barely clinging to life.

The merwoman thus reached an agreement with the black box, or perhaps it was a bet.

The black box itself was formed after the collapse of the world, and it originated from the world consciousness.

This is their backup plan.

“You will win.” “Fang He” in front of him suddenly spoke, in an extremely confident tone.

His face gradually became somewhat blurry. The general outline of his features could still be seen, but it always seemed as if there was a thin mist between them, making it hazy and indistinct.

“If you win, I will disappear. I can already feel death approaching, but I am glad.”

His tone revealed a slight doubt, and after a long pause, he nodded in sudden understanding and continued, "I see, it's a simulation using his way of thinking, which would make him happy."

Xiao Cheng knew he was referring to Fang He.

“I want to see him, I’m very curious.” He was almost completely hidden in the darkness, but his voice sounded unusually excited.

But this elation did not last long.

“But it’s a pity.” He sighed softly, “He’s coming soon. He’s carrying the key to the final bet.”

"key?"

Xiao Cheng was somewhat surprised. What kind of bet was this that required a key?

“Yes, the key.” He gestured roughly. “It’s a black sword that He forged himself.”

*

Fang He and Shijiu were trapped in the black cubicle.

After jumping over the previous iron gate, a new gate did not appear as expected.

The entrance is closed; this is a dead zone.

"This shouldn't be the case?" Nineteen frowned and lay on the ground, knocking and tapping on the ground, trying to find a new secret door. "According to the rules, according to the rules, there shouldn't be any death chambers here."

“This wasn’t originally a death chamber,” Fang He calmly analyzed. “On the contrary, it was the last room leading to the core.”

"But what about the door? If we can't see the door, we should at least see Xiao Cheng, right?" Nineteen scratched his head, looking completely puzzled. "There are no new mechanisms inside. Apart from waiting for the space to shift, there's no way to get out!"
