Chapter 26 Mental Illness Ward (10)

Xiao Cheng was slightly taken aback and subconsciously turned her head to look around.

Everyone noticed that Su Xin was the quickest to react, having already pulled a piece of paper from her pocket. Her expression gradually turned strange, and she hurriedly stuffed the paper back into her pocket, seemingly without understanding what was written on it.

Suddenly noticing Xiao Cheng's gaze, she forced a smile, then turned her face away uneasily.

Is the information on the paper relevant to me?

Xiao Cheng frowned and took out her note.

The first document is her medical record, which matches the information Fang He had previously provided.

The second sheet is the schedule: lunch at 11:00 AM, dinner at 6:00 PM, and three hours of free time in the afternoon, including time to visit the small garden. The remaining time must be spent in the ward receiving treatment.

The last note was a bit strange; every word was cut from magazines and newspapers, and the different font sizes spelled out a sentence: "Rule Two: There are no fellow patients."

Why did Su Xin react that way if it was just a rules explanation?

Xiao Cheng looked over again, puzzled, only to see her sitting on the edge of the bed with her back to him, seemingly without any abnormality.

The woman in bed number 4 on the other side was equally calm. She waved the note in her hand at Xiao Cheng, as if asking if she could see it. Xiao Cheng shook her head in response; she couldn't see it. The words on the note looked like they were covered with a mosaic, a blurry, colorful mess.

Clearly, this glass not only provides sound insulation but also prevents peeping.

Looking across the next ward, Xiao Cheng noticed that bed number 3 was rhythmically tapping on the glass, as if communicating with Fang He, probably in Morse code.

Fang He was quite far away, so he couldn't see Fang He's expression clearly, but he could see that Fang He stood by the wall for a while before turning around and lifting up his bed board.

Xiao Cheng: "?"

Bed number 3 was clearly shocked by Fang He's actions, and stood there stunned for almost a minute.

It wasn't until Fang He pried a poster folded into a thin strip from the crack in the bed board that the problem was solved.

The poster, when unfolded, was almost half a person's height. Fang He flattened it and pressed it against the glass wall, and the poster's projection appeared on the glass wall of each small cubicle. It was an advertisement for the mental hospital.

The elegant man in the white coat occupied almost half of the page, and the remaining space was divided in two: the left half showcased the treatment results, and the right half featured a brief interview.

The last sentence of the interview was highlighted and bolded in red: "Some people are lost in the darkness, and I plant flowers for them."

The poster projection didn't last long and quickly disappeared. After that, Fang He tried pressing other things against the glass wall, but without exception, none of them produced any reaction.

Clearly, they cannot communicate in this way.

Xiao Cheng walked around the ward again, checking the bed board and under the bed, but still found nothing.

She turned around and tried to open the ward door. She could turn the handle, but there was always an invisible force blocking it from the outside. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't push the door open.

Fortunately, there are only a few minutes left until 11 o'clock.

Xiao Cheng glanced at the clock, then silently returned to the bedside and sat down to wait for dinner.

Lunch was delivered by three doctors who suddenly appeared out of nowhere at the ward door, carrying multi-layered stainless steel lunchboxes.

Dr. B was still in charge of Xiao Cheng and Su Xin.

Xiao Cheng watched as he entered Su Xin's ward first, put down the lunchbox, and seemed to say something to her. Su Xin opened the lunchbox with trembling hands, took out the pills inside, swallowed them, and then opened her mouth for him to examine.

Dr. B nodded in satisfaction, then left with the remaining food containers.

The moment he stepped out the door, Su Xin began to gag violently, bending over and straining to vomit up the pill, but to no avail.

Her face turned deathly pale in an instant.

Dr. B ignored all of this and pushed open Xiao Cheng's ward door, placing the food box in front of her.

"Take your medicine before meals," he said in a flat tone. "You don't want your condition to worsen and upset the doctor, do you?"

“Medical resources are so precious, let’s give them to those who need them more.” Xiao Cheng looked at him sincerely. “I’ve already given up on treatment.”

Dr. B paused for a moment, then personally unscrewed the lid of the lunchbox, picked up the white pill placed on top of the food, and brought it to Xiao Cheng's lips.

"Eat," he commanded.

"Actually, I don't have the money to pay for medical expenses." Xiao Cheng leaned back, creating distance between herself and him, trying to struggle a little more.

But it was completely useless.

Dr. B stubbornly pushed the pill forward a little more: "Eat it."

This time, his movements were a bit too exaggerated. The front of his white coat was slightly pulled open, and the identification tag hanging inside slid out, circled around, and then hung there quietly.

Xiao Cheng spotted the words on it with her sharp eyes.

Current name: Doctor B.

Current identity: Medical worker.

Oh ho, this guy isn't a doctor anymore.

She gave a meaningful smile, pretended to obediently raise her hand as if to receive the pill, and then, taking advantage of Dr. B's inattention, twisted her wrist, grabbed the lunchbox next to her, and hit him on the head.

With a dull thud, Dr. B was knocked off balance, his head swaying groggily. The pill in his hand fell to the ground and rolled under the bed.

Food spilled all over him, and soup dripped down, steaming hot.

Not satisfied, Xiao Cheng added another blow, the stainless steel lunchbox bottom striking him squarely on the temple.

This time, Dr. B couldn't stand up anymore. Blood started gushing from his head, and he soon collapsed to the ground, whimpering in pain.
