The female student died suddenly. Xiao Cheng stared blankly down at the blood-red words fading on the ground and sighed with emotion.
"I already told you he tacitly agreed." She picked up the head and carefully placed it back on the female student, giving her a proper burial only because the student had reminded her.
Then Xiao Cheng solemnly opened the diary in her hand, and what came into view was a page full of bloody words: "Go to hell".
"Wow, is this little brother so irritable?" She quickly flipped to the first page, thankfully the rest were normal.
"Monday. That pesky girl behind me, I discovered her secret."
"Tuesday. That awful Ms. Liu, I've discovered her secret."
"Wednesday. That pesky Ms. Liu, I've discovered her second secret."
"Thursday. That awful Ms. Liu, I've discovered her third secret."
"Friday. That pesky girl behind me, she really thinks I'd write my secrets in my diary."
"Monday. Ugh... Oh no, she found out."
The last entry in the diary was written in very messy handwriting, suggesting that the notebook was closed hastily before the ink was dry, leaving ink smeared everywhere.
Xiao Cheng took a closer look at his hand and, sure enough, found corresponding ink marks on the side of his fingers. It seemed that this was what he had just written today.
If the "she" at the end refers to Teacher Liu, then the student's tragic death today was not an accident?
It seems those are three big secrets.
Xiao Cheng suddenly became interested and even started looking forward to the extra tutoring session that evening.
She tucked the diary back into her desk, even remembering to thank the corpse. Then, before the second class started, she hurried back to her seat.
Almost the instant she sat down, Ms. Liu reappeared on the podium. She paid no attention to the female student's corpse, picked up her pointer and lightly tapped the podium, making a crisp thud.
The sound seemed to flip a switch, and all the students sat up straight, looking up at the podium with stiff posture.
Hello, Teacher Liu!
They shouted in unison, deliberately drawing out each word.
Just as they finished shouting, the school bell rang. Teacher Liu broke off a piece of chalk, turned around, and quickly wrote five large characters on the blackboard.
An unforgettable day.
"These are the exercises for this lesson. Starting with the first row of the group closest to the door, each person will come up and read your essay aloud in turn." Teacher Liu raised her pointer and tapped the first student.
"An unforgettable day." The student stood on the podium and read aloud in a melodious tone, showing no stage fright and even speaking extemporaneously.
"It was a rainy day. I was leaving get out of class as usual when my roommate slipped and fell, spraining his leg. He was recovering in the dorm and asked me to bring him some bone broth."
"But there was no bone broth left in the cafeteria. I couldn't let my roommate down, so I went to my deskmate."
"My roommate enjoyed a delicious bone broth and smiled happily. This was an unforgettable day for me."
A round of enthusiastic applause erupted, and some people were even moved to tears. Xiao Cheng looked on with a puzzled expression. Did she have a generation gap with the NPCs? What was so touching about this?
Then the classmate from the essay stood up, hopped all the way to the podium, opened his arms and gave a heartfelt hug.
Xiao Cheng saw his empty right trouser leg and gasped.
She was wrong; this was truly a touching display of friendship between classmates.
"This is also my most unforgettable day." My deskmate's voice was filled with satisfaction and happiness. "I have never helped anyone before. I am very happy and grateful. It is the school that nurtured me and it is Teacher Liu who taught me."
"Well said! I'll give you each an extra point!" Teacher Liu made a gesture of wiping away tears, patted the two of them on the shoulder approvingly, and watched them return to their seats.
Can it earn extra points?
Xiao Cheng's eyes lit up, and she was instantly wide awake. "It's just a short essay, right? Watch me write one and beat you all to a pulp!"
The remaining students took turns going up on stage, telling all sorts of stories, but most of them were still disgusting and clichéd ghost stories.
Ms. Liu didn't hear many satisfactory answers, and seeing that only Xiao Cheng was left, she sighed wearily: "The last one, don't waste time."
Xiao Cheng had little experience in public speaking. When she stood on the podium and looked at the students below with their heads raised, she felt dizzy.
Urged on by Teacher Liu, she cleared her throat and began to speak: "It was a stormy night with thunder and lightning. I was home alone when suddenly a female ghost in red appeared!"
Everyone fell silent.
"But!" Xiao Cheng emphasized, "You'd never guess that this female ghost in red is actually a male ghost dressed as a woman!"
The atmosphere became a little awkward. Ms. Liu rubbed her temples, looking troubled. "What are you talking about!"
"Let me finish! Actually, this male ghost is not an ordinary male ghost, nor is he just a man dressed as a woman. He—" Xiao Cheng deliberately dragged out his words.
"What about him?" Teacher Liu waved her pointer impatiently. "Speak up! Every minute you waste is forty minutes for these forty people!"
"Ah, that's all." Xiao Cheng spread her hands innocently. "I'm done."
Teacher Liu was stunned for a moment, then became even angrier: "Do I really need to teach you the complete structure of an essay?!"
"Alright then, shall I add a summary?" Xiao Cheng nodded readily. "I actually saw a eunuch ghost. What an unforgettable day!"
