Chapter 119 Alien Evolution (25)

The eerie blue flame struck Xiao Cheng directly between the eyebrows, and a bone-chilling cold instantly permeated her body.

An indistinct voice echoed in her ears, as if someone was whispering in her mind: "Mine, mine, all mine!"

A009 stopped its attack, looked at her and let out a strange, cackling laugh: "Dear Insect Queen, how could you be so careless? Even I would find it difficult to deal with being entangled by something like this."

Xiao Cheng could barely speak now. A thin layer of ice had formed on the surface of her skin, and even her eyelashes and eyebrows were covered with snow-white frost.

A huge phantom of pale blue flames appeared behind her, and in the center of the flames, a strange figure with twisted limbs gradually emerged.

It has no legs or feet; its entire lower body is made up of twisted black tentacles, like the gnarled roots of an ancient tree, making it look extremely eerie.

But its upper body is almost indistinguishable from a normal person's, with its eyes slightly closed and its face covered with dark red striped scars.

Fang He tried to use his supernatural abilities to free her from the control of the phantom, but to no avail.

This couldn't be solved by stopping time. He couldn't even get close. Xiao Cheng was standing there like a human-shaped freezer, emitting a chilling aura, and even the ground was slowly covered with scattered ice crystals.

The scene before Xiao Cheng's eyes gradually became blurry. She felt that she might be on her deathbed, and her consciousness was completely sealed deep in her mind.

Before them stood a strange, arrogant figure magnified countless times, its entire body enveloped in will-o'-the-wisps. The blue numbers on the back of its hand also shimmered in the blue flames.

Number 44.

This was also a player, but it had clearly lost its self-awareness and was left only with the instinct to possess others.

Xiao Cheng's first reaction was "Holy crap!", his second was "This number is indeed unlucky!", and his third was "This gender is inappropriate too!"

Then, a figure roared and pounced on her, surrounded by droopy little fireballs that looked like they were made of inferior material.

In the blink of an eye, a completely transparent protective shield suddenly appeared in front of Xiao Cheng, and its outline only became vaguely visible when the figure crashed into it.

Energy flowed on the protective shield, and the iron filings that the human-shaped image was being pulled towards by the magnet were stuck to it in an extremely awkward position, no matter how much it struggled, it was to no avail.

It made rapid hoarse sounds from its throat, panting heavily, but all of this did not affect the operation of the protective shield. The pale blue flames were peeled off its body and slowly seeped into the protective shield as a liquid.

In contrast, the phantom of player number 44 became increasingly blurry, until finally only a thin layer remained, like a fragile shadow puppet, clinging to the protective shield and weakly waving its arms and lower body tentacles.

"Hehe... mine..." it repeated incoherently, "mine..."

Xiao Cheng could clearly feel that the restraints on him were being weakened, and in no time he easily and completely got rid of the influence of the ghost fire.

Her body clearly felt warming up, and her body temperature slowly rose, but her consciousness did not leave this place immediately. Instead, it wandered over to player number 44 with interest, staring at the fleshy ball the size of a knuckle, struggling to emerge from the top of his head.

Then, it was also firmly stuck to the protective shield, lying there like an abstract black cockroach.

The fleshy ball weakly stretched out its tentacles, making rapid squeaking sounds as if it were calling for help, but it was obviously to no avail, and soon it stopped moving completely.

Although Number 44's physical condition did not return to normal after its death, his rationality seemed to be gradually returning; at least he started to say different things.

"Help...help...help..."

A strange glint appeared in his eyes as he stared intently at Xiao Cheng, his face contorted with a mixture of crying and laughing. He desperately stretched out his arm towards her, like a drowning man grasping at a last straw.

"Help...help me..." His tone grew increasingly earnest as he repeatedly pleaded, "Please save me...I'm a...player too..."

Xiao Cheng watched his performance expressionlessly. After a while, she felt a little tired. Before she could turn around, a wisp of sword energy that was almost tangible attacked from behind.

A whooshing sound rang in her ears as a blade of energy grazed her face. Then came a gleaming silver dinner knife, which cleanly severed half of Xiao Cheng's hair. Without slowing down, it pierced deeply into Number 44's slightly open mouth with a soft "plop."

The knife pierced the protective shield, its end trembled violently a few times, and then exploded with a bang, instantly turning the entire protective shield and Number 44's head into dust.

Countless tiny fleshy spheres crawled out from the exploded head, covered with delicate tentacles, slightly lighter in color, resembling huddled together juvenile spiders.

Xiao Cheng was disgusted to death, so he used his supernatural power to send them all away.

Then she turned around, quite displeased, her brows furrowed tightly, cursing as she turned, "What kind of background do you have, to dare run around in my consciousness space? Running around is one thing, but you even set off fireworks? Did you even have permission from me, your master, to do this...?"

The moment she turned her head and saw who it was, she stopped talking abruptly, stood there dumbfounded, and stared wide-eyed in disbelief.

It looks exactly like me.

But it doesn't seem to be entirely myself.

So what's going on here? Mitosis? Intracranial replication? Mental illness?
