"And you guys?" Number Three asked casually as he passed by.
“We’re not hungry, we’ll wait a bit,” Xiao Cheng replied.
The food here is all portioned and fixed for each person; you can just go to the kitchen to prepare it yourself. Hearing this, Number Three didn't ask any more questions and led his younger brother toward the stairwell.
Then Xiao Cheng suddenly realized that just because she wasn't hungry didn't mean Fang He wasn't hungry, so she looked over somewhat guiltily.
Fang He was still focused on the game's storyline and seemed oblivious to what she and Number Three had just discussed.
“I’m not hungry either.” Noticing Xiao Cheng’s gaze, he suddenly spoke up, his eyes still fixed on the screen. “So it’s fine.”
At the end of the fifth level, they finally triggered the first boss battle. The enraged skeleton monster let out a shrill scream, and the protagonist could only rely on a crossbow with terrible aim.
"The judgment is reversed."
Fang He, controlling his character who was almost out of health, calmly brushed past the bone spikes released by the skeleton.
His reactions were quick enough, and his movements were fast enough that he managed to whittle down the skeleton's health with the scraping damage from his bow and crossbow.
Then the skeleton monster let out a cackling laugh, and a healing skill instantly restored it to full health.
It means that we've gone back to square one.
Xiao Cheng: "..." Is this really a fight? Or is it a plot device?
On the protagonist's live streaming device, the live stream screen was almost completely filled with bullet comments.
[How could we possibly clear the level without offering sacrifices?]
[The protagonist is destined to die.]
[Death +1]
[I can't stand it anymore. Since the streamer's pretty handsome, I'll splurge and give you a cheat code.]
Then a huge rocket streaked across the sky, the game console screen flashed, the image froze, and two lines of small black text popped up at the very top.
"Obtaining the cheat code, the summoning of the evil god."
"Golden Finger activated."
The skeletal monster's bony hand suddenly pierced through the screen, and amidst a deafening roar, it gripped Fang He's hand, which was resting on the game console's joystick, its five fingertips tightly clenching his wrist.
Blood meandered out, and the moment it dripped onto the game console, a burst of blood light shot out, enveloping Fang He's body and the transdimensional bone hand, causing it to retract back into the screen.
Xiao Cheng: "?!"
All of this happened too suddenly. By the time she realized what was happening, Fang He had already appeared in the game's storyline.
The protagonist looked at Fang He who was falling from the sky, his face first showing astonishment, then instantly replaced by ecstasy.
He threw his crossbow and shouted to Fang He, who was hurriedly dodging the skeleton monster's attack, "God! Save me!"
Xiao Cheng: "..."
It's almost like watching a movie, and it's actually quite engaging.
The commotion when Fang He was pulled in was quite loud, alerting the others upstairs. Number One and Number Three came down to investigate and found Xiao Cheng sitting there leisurely, almost as if she was watching a TV show with a snack.
As for Fang He...
Fang He was battling a skeleton monster on the game console screen.
Even seasoned, sophisticated women were somewhat bewildered by this scene.
"...What's going on?"
“Oh, the game's storyline is missing an actor.” Xiao Cheng answered seriously, then, thinking of that overly dramatic cheat ability, added, “He is the man chosen by the gods.”
