The game room on the first floor.
The atmosphere among them became tense. Number One gradually lost his temper and slammed his fist into the game console next to him.
"What the hell is this dungeon?! When the hell will it ever end?! Day after day, I might as well just die already!"
Number Two grabbed her arm worriedly, "Don't be like this, calm down. Nobody wanted things to turn out this way, you..."
"Calm down?! All because of this damn fragmented world! My career! The business blueprint I've been building for years, dreaming of realizing! It's all fucking destroyed!" Number One was like a wild beast trapped in a cage.
Number Two was forcefully thrown aside, his entire back slamming heavily against the wall. He was in so much pain that he was bent over and couldn't recover for a long time.
"Don't do this..." But he still endured the pain and tried his best to calm Number One down. "You've lost control again." He took out a medicine bottle from his pocket.
"It's this again! You can only do this!" Number One's eyes were bloodshot. "Why did I become like this?! It's all your fault! It's all your fault!"
"Wait a minute..." Number Three was a little confused. These two seemed a bit strange, but he really couldn't get involved at all right now.
"Brother, ignore them." Number Four stopped him, shaking his head in disapproval.
“I didn’t intend to interfere, but doing so at this time is somewhat inappropriate,” Number Three explained.
When Xiao Cheng and the other two walked out of the stairwell, they saw this farcical scene.
"Ah..." She looked at this and then at that, seemingly helpless, and complained to Fang He, "It seems like we came at the wrong time."
But when Number Three saw them, it was as if he had seen a savior. His eyes lit up, and he shouted in an exaggerated voice, as if afraid that Number One and Number Two wouldn't hear him: "You've come at just the right time!"
The three of them were speechless. To be honest, this guy's acting was a bit over the top.
But the melodramatic scenes on the sides of Number One and Number Two were finally forced to end.
Number One was all bark and no bite; he took the medicine with a pained expression and his emotions calmed down.
Number Two barely managed to maintain his precarious composure, quickly regained his composure, and put on a proper smile as he looked at Xiao Cheng: "It seems you have a new clue worth sharing."
Xiao Cheng was surprised by his calmness and keenness, and raised the paper with the rules written on it: "The rules for this wolf-sheep game that appeared after the disappearance of corpse number five."
The four people took the paper and passed it around, getting a general understanding of the situation.
“In other words, we still have today as a buffer.” Number Three frowned. “But the rules are too harsh. With the identity cards rotating, it’s almost impossible for the sheep to find the wolf.”
“Let’s break it down: the wolf will kill a sheep, the vote will execute a player, and with two players being eliminated each day, we still need to stay here for three days.” Xiao Cheng found that his brain was working faster and faster lately.
"Then on the seventh day, the last remaining sinner won the game and successfully left. A pretty good arrangement, isn't it?"
"Of course, this is the worst-case scenario where we can't find the wolf. If we are lucky enough to vote out the wolf before it kills the sheep, then we will only lose one member each day. But at this point, we will have to face another problem."
"Food supply cut off."
Everyone fell silent.
This seemed like a hopeless situation; all they could do was gamble that their only chance of survival would fall into their laps.
"If two members are eliminated each day, there are two possibilities in the final game, which is the sixth day," Fang He continued to analyze. "The wolves kill the sheep before the vote, or the wolves kill the sheep after the vote."
"In the first possibility, the wolves and sheep will vote against each other, resulting in a tie and no one dying. Then, on the seventh day, a new wolf will kill the last sheep."
"In the latter possibility, the wolf successfully leads the vote, executes one sheep, and then kills the other. Or the wolf fails to lead the vote, leaving two sheep, and then on the seventh day, a new wolf kills the last sheep."
"In conclusion, the only one that can survive will be—" Fang He concluded, "the last wolf."
"What about the courier? The courier seems unnecessary," Number Three said, expressing his doubt.
"No, of course it's necessary." The number one, who had taken drugs, regained his intelligence. "The identity of the 'Chang' is hidden from both parties. That is to say, if the wolf kills the 'Chang,' its identity will be shown as the sheep, and if the sheep votes out the 'Chang,' its identity will be shown as the wolf."
"We know that the chang exists, but we don't know who the chang is, or even whether it is alive or dead. The chang's task is not to save its own life or to kill sheep, but to keep the wolves alive."
"With your life," Number One emphasized in a meaningful tone.
"Tch, risking your life to help someone else survive?" Number Three scoffed. "Is he an idiot?"
"So it was us who came here." Xiao Cheng understood what Number One had left unsaid: "Blood brothers, companions who will never abandon each other, and the closest lovers."
Her gaze drifted lightly to the mute girl: "After all, a fool has already done it, hasn't he?"
Number Three turned to look at his younger brother, the words he was about to say stuck in his throat.
The mute girl looked at them with sorrowful eyes.
Number Five is dead; she is the only one left here all alone.
"Of course, there's no need to be so nervous. After all, the game won't officially start until tomorrow. And there's another possibility: what if the wolf is weak and can't kill the sheep at all?" Xiao Cheng tried to lighten the mood with a relaxed tone.
"After all, killing is a subjective intention, while killing is an objective result. So, maybe the situation isn't as bad as it seems?"
