Chapter 61 Finding a Puppy

Shen Jialuo stared wide-eyed at the bushes, then at Lili beside him, who was holding her breath.

My sister has found something good again!

Lili squatted on the ground and slowly moved towards the bushes.

Shen Jialuo didn't dare to breathe loudly and followed Lili carefully to move in that direction.

Lili stared intently at that spot, and only when she got closer did she realize that the leaves on the bushes were actually swaying slightly.

Something that moves!

Lili's footsteps were as light as a feather landing, each step taken with utmost care, as if afraid of making even the slightest sound.

Lili stretched out one hand, slowly and gently, reaching forward.

The commotion in the bushes seemed to have stopped as well.

It seemed to sense that Lili was approaching.

Immediately afterwards, a high-pitched and childlike "whoosh whoosh" sound came from deep within the bushes.

"Huh?"

Lili was puzzled.

Not pheasants or rabbits?

Pear's voice seemed to frighten the little creature inside; its soft cries became more urgent, and the bushes that had stopped swaying suddenly began to tremble violently.

It was as if something was desperately trying to escape.

Lili simply pushed aside the bushes, and what was inside was suddenly revealed to her.

A small creature was curled up on the ground, its forelimbs stretched out haphazardly, as if it wanted to run forward.

It was still covered in blood, its short, downy fur covered in blood that had dried and clung to its body in a disheveled state, mixed with dirt.

It was covered in dirt and its eyes were not even open yet.

It's a puppy!

"Wow, Xiu Gou!" Li Li loves dogs and excitedly went over to him.

"Li Bao, it's a newborn puppy. Its eyes aren't even open yet, and the blood has dried up, so it must have been born some time ago." Shen Jialuo touched the puppy very gently, afraid of hurting it.

Lili looked to the side and saw broken eggshells with remnants of yellowish egg liquid inside.

Looking up, I saw a small bird's nest overhead.

It's likely that the bird egg fell and broke by accident, which gave the puppy a chance to eat it.

Lili guessed that the puppy must have been abandoned by its mother and had been surviving on these few bird eggs and the morning dew on the leaves of the bushes.

Fortunately, all the animals in the forest had run away, which allowed the puppy to survive.

Although newborn puppies can't eat much, they are very dependent on their mother's milk.

This little dog had a terrible start to its life, and without its mother's care, it's amazing that it's survived until now on this meager resources.

Lili lay down on the ground and tried to assess the puppy's condition.

Sensing someone approaching, the puppy instinctively tucked its legs in and tried to move, but then collapsed helplessly.

The tiny dog, no bigger than a palm, would occasionally move its head, its little mouth slightly open, emitting soft "woof woof" sounds.

The whimpering sound carried a hint of urgency, as if it were calling out for something, or expressing some kind of emotion.

The ears pressed against its forehead trembled slightly with the whimpering sounds, and its belly rose and fell gently, making one's heart ache.

"Pot, he's so weak." Pear pursed her lips and used her little hands to carefully remove the small leaves stuck to his body.

Shen Jialuo spoke softly and gently, and leaned close to Lili, helping her remove the mud clods with her hands.

"What a tiny puppy! Did its mother abandon it? I've heard that some animals choose to abandon the weakest one because it's too difficult to raise."

Lili shook her head.

Lili suddenly felt a little down.

She was abandoned as soon as she arrived.

Although it wasn't "LiLi herself" who was abandoned, she still felt very wronged.

Fortunately, she met her mother and the others.

“Brother, let’s raise it!” Lili turned her head and looked at Shen Jialuo.

The little one in her palm seemed to know that the two meant no harm, and even started to rub against Lili's palm.

Hearing what Lili said, it seemed to understand, and it also eagerly wanted to be saved, so it moved closer to Lili.

My heart is melting.

Shen Jialuo also felt sorry for the puppy. It lost its mother at birth, how sad that must be!

Shen Jialuo looked at Lili, who was carefully stroking the puppy, and for some reason, he sensed a sense of sympathy between the two little bundles of joy.

My younger sister was also abandoned...

Shen Jialuo thought to himself, "It's good that my sister met them. Otherwise, she might have lived a difficult life like this little dog, and she might have starved to death one day."

"Let's raise it!" Shen Jialuo said firmly. "If we don't raise it, it might die in a few days!"

Hearing this, Lili was quite happy and nodded in agreement, saying, "Yes, yes! The puppy is already very pitiful. Since we've encountered it, we can't just stand by and watch it die!"

"Um!"

Shen Jialuo immediately found a larger leaf nearby and had Lili hold it, while he carefully lifted the puppy onto the leaf.

The newborn puppy was already small, and it was constantly malnourished from not getting enough to eat, so it was very thin.

Lili was very happy to see the puppy that had lost its guard.

"Little puppy, don't worry, Pear will definitely raise you to be plump and healthy!"

Shen Jialuo nodded: "Yes, just like raising a little sister, chubby and fair-skinned!"

"Huh?" Lili looked over in confusion.

Shen Jialuo scratched his head and chuckled, "I mean... just like we treat Lili, the puppy is also part of our family!"

Only then did Lili let him go.

Just then, Yang Ji actually managed to shoot down two swallows. After waiting for a while and seeing no birds left, he decided to stop.

"Luo'er, Li Bao, where are you!"

Yang Ji shouted loudly to the surroundings. He had just seen the two children beside him, but they disappeared as soon as he turned his head.

Yang Ji, carrying two swallows, limped hurriedly around looking for people.

Lili and Shen Jialuo quickly emerged and brought the puppy to Yang Ji.

"Grandpa, the puppy!"

Lili proudly showed him the puppy, as if it were a precious treasure.

"Waaah..."

The puppy whimpered and cried.

Yang Ji had originally intended to pretend to scold the two little ones and tell them not to run around, but seeing this little creature now, he was quite intrigued.

"These must be puppies that were just born recently," Yang Ji asked, looking at them. "Where's the mother dog?"

“There’s no mother dog, only this one,” Lili said.

Shen Jialuo quickly added, telling him what they had seen: "This puppy seems to have been abandoned, Grandpa, can we take it home?"

The two little ones were a bit nervous, afraid that he would disagree, and looked at him expectantly.

"This little dog is really lucky to have survived," Yang Ji murmured, then chuckled. "It's lucky to have met you two. Take it! It's just a puppy. If your grandparents won't let you keep it, you can leave it with your maternal grandfather!"

"Yay! Thank you, Grandpa!"
