Chapter 11

Fu Yue replied, "Yes."

The uncle asked again: "Are you here for the miraculous doctor Xu Tiandong?"

"good."

"That's a shame. Divine Doctor Xu died of illness two months ago. However, his daughter Xu Ziling inherited his medical skills and is very skilled. You don't have to worry about her treatment."

Shi Mingyue smiled at the old man and said, "Okay." Then she looked around deliberately and asked curiously, "Why are there so few people coming to see the doctor?"

Upon hearing this, the uncle opened up. "Back then, although Xu Ziling was a skilled doctor, her character was terrible. When her father was alive, he only charged a symbolic fee of one or two cents for his treatments. Sometimes, when he met a poor patient, he would not charge a cent at all and even give medicine away for free. But she simply told people not to come if they didn't have money, and she charged half the price of the other clinics in the city. Don't you think she's a ruthless person?"

Shi Mingyue could only smile awkwardly at this. She felt that since he was a miracle doctor, it was understandable for him to charge a little more money. However, telling people not to come without money was a bit too unreasonable. However, she had no right to say that his behavior was wrong.

The uncle stopped chatting with them and said, "If my disease wasn't difficult to cure, I wouldn't look for her. I won't talk to you anymore. I have to go back and boil the medicine first."

As soon as the uncle left, Fu Yueli shook her head and said with a smile: "Then let's go in."

Shi Mingyue pulled him in. Xu Ziling had just finished examining a noblewoman and gestured with his hand, "Sit down. I tested your blood yesterday, and the toxins in your body haven't been completely cleared. You need to take a medicinal bath here for a few days. Is that convenient for you?"

The poison hadn't been completely cleared yet. Fu Yueli couldn't help but frown: "Okay, then I'll have to trouble Doctor Xu."

Xu Ziling took a pen and began to write, saying, "It's not a big deal. The medicinal bath will last for seven days, and each session will cost fifty taels. You'll also need to stay at my place during this time so I can observe you. The accommodation fee is ten taels a day, for a total of four hundred and twenty taels. Would you like to pay in cash or in silver notes?"

Fu Yueli thought she was writing a prescription, but upon closer inspection, she was actually writing a bill. He was at a loss whether to laugh or cry. "Silver note," he said, taking out a five-hundred-liang silver note and placing it on the table. "No need for change."

Xu Ziling picked up the banknote and, as if afraid it was a fake, he even examined it carefully to confirm it was genuine before saying, "Thank you, Master Fu."

Shi Mingyue was stunned by what she saw. Xu Ziling had truly opened her eyes. She spoke a few more words to Fu Yueli, who then escorted her to the door. He then told Lu Lingyan that Taizhou City was unsafe and asked him to protect her and not to leave the inn unless necessary.

Fu Yueli kept talking for a long time, and Lu Lingyan became impatient: "Alright, I will definitely protect your little wife, you just stay here and treat your illness well."

Shi Mingyue also said: "Don't worry, I won't leave the inn."

As the three of them were talking, Xu Ziling came out of the room, glanced at them indifferently, and went to look for someone in another room: "Tong Di, where have you been?"

Fu Yueli turned around and was about to give Lu Lingyan one last word of advice when she saw him staring blankly in the direction of Xu Ziling with his eyes wide open.
