Chapter 73: Waking Up

They stayed in the inn and rested for a night. In the morning, she knew that Qin Zheng should have left home by now, so she went to the Qin Mansion. She didn't know how he would feel when he saw her, but she was determined to stop that from happening.

Fu Yueli had originally offered to accompany her, but Shi Mingyue refused. She arrived at the gate of the Qin residence, but it was closed, and two guards were standing guard. As soon as she approached, the two guards pointed their weapons at her, "Who are you?"

Shi Mingyue was just wondering why there were guards here when someone pushed open the door and came out. It was an old servant. Seeing that she had covered her head and face, leaving only her eyes exposed, he asked her impatiently, "Who are you? We are busy in the mansion."

Shi Mingyue was very familiar with this old servant. She knew he had a very good temper, so why would he be so rude to a stranger? She replied, "I'm here to see your wife. I'm her cousin Gao Siqi. Please go and tell her."

The old servant's eyes widened, and he said in disbelief, "You are Madam's cousin? Alas, Madam, something happened in the mansion last night!"

Shi Mingyue felt cold all over, "What happened?" Her voice was trembling.

The old servant lamented, "That damned Wutan spy came to the mansion and hurt Madam. Madam, how pitiful Madam!"

How could this be! It wasn't even that day yet, so why was it moving forward?! Shi Mingyue couldn't believe it, but the expressions of the old servant and the guards said it all. Why was she here? Hadn't she changed at all?

Shi Mingyue turned and left. She could no longer hear the voices of the old servant and the guards behind her. She was like an empty shell without a soul, moving mechanically on the street until she fell unconscious in a completely unfamiliar place.

After waking up, she saw Fu Yueli, who was sitting by the bed and watching over her.

The decoration of this room is that of an inn.

"Do you have to go back to Xinzhou just to save yourself?" Fu Yueli looked at her quietly and asked.

Shi Mingyue's lips curled up in a sarcastic arc: "What's the use?" She came here to change history, so it's not surprising that the time was pushed forward a few days.

"Why do you know?" Fu Yueli had a guess in his mind.

"Because I experienced everything she had and was reborn, I chose another path." Is everything destined and unchangeable?

Fu Yueli said nothing more. The servant brought the hot porridge and then left. He picked up the hot porridge and said softly, "Eat some."

"Let's go back, let's go back." Shi Mingyue suddenly said. She wanted to return to Pinghu as soon as possible. This place was simply a nightmare.

Fu Yueli saw her crazy look, and her heart tightened. She nodded and said, "Okay, let's go back."

They set out for Shangjing that afternoon, and there was no conversation along the way.

The weather was good until the carriage passed Pinghu Lake. Shi Mingyue knew that she had reached her destination and she wanted to get off.

Fu Yueli accompanied her. She returned to the place that had brought her to this absurd dream. A flock of ducks swam leisurely on the lake. The grass was soft, so she sat down, and Fu Yueli sat down with her.

"How are you getting along with him?" Fu Yueli suddenly asked.

Shi Mingyue's face was filled with a warm smile: "Very good."

The word "very good" was enough to summarize everything, and Fu Yueli said nothing more.

"The scenery is beautiful, isn't it?" Shi Mingyue sighed.

The sky was blue, the clouds white, and the water was calm and windless. The lake was as smooth as a mirror, its edges reflecting the lush grass. While there were such beautiful days, there were also storms and rainstorms, when the lake's surface was no longer calm. Isn't it just like life, with its ups and downs?

"yes."

"Thank you very much for these days." Shi Mingyue suddenly turned her head and looked at him seriously.

Fu Yueli felt quite tired of her thanks. He didn't want to correct her anymore. He did all this voluntarily, not to make her thank him.

"Do you often say thank you to him?" He just asked this question.

"No." Shi Mingyue looked at him. He and her Fu Yueli were obviously exactly the same, so why did she have to distinguish them so clearly?

Fu Yueli smiled and said, "If you really want to thank me, can I hug you?" He had a premonition that she was about to leave.

Shi Mingyue was stunned for a moment, and before she could react, the other party had already hugged her.

It was a short time before he let her go and turned his head to look at the calm lake.

Shi Mingyue suddenly felt very sleepy and her head was dizzy. She slowly lost consciousness and leaned on his shoulder.

Just as she disappeared before that time and space, when she woke up she saw Fu Yueli, the same lake, and the same group of ducks. A feeling of loss arose in her heart.

"You slept for a long time." Fu Yueli noticed that she was awake and smiled gently.

Shi Mingyue sensed something was wrong. Fu Yueli would not give her such a gentle smile, nor would he speak such intimate words to her.

"Is that you, Yueli?" Her eyes sparkled.

Fu Yueli looked at her strangely, still smiling gently, "Who else could it be if not me? Are you still dreaming?"

Shi Mingyue pulled up her sleeves, revealing a sparkling star-moon bracelet. She asked hopefully, "Who gave this to me?"

"It's me. What's wrong with you?" Fu Yueli suppressed her smile, noting that her condition was very strange.

It’s him! Shi Mingyue suddenly hugged him, her arms unconsciously tightening, unable to let him go. She was finally back!

She didn't tell Fu Yueli about her dream because she wasn't sure whether it was a real experience or just a dream...

Fu Yueli was puzzled by her unusual reaction, but she didn't ask any more questions. She smiled and said, "You said you came out to see the scenery, but you slept on my shoulder for so long. It's getting late now, we should go back."

Shi Mingyue felt a little embarrassed and was about to speak when she saw the grass behind Fu Yueli move and a cute little yellow duck poked its head out.

"Look, there is a little duck!" Shi Mingyue happily pointed it out to Fu Yueli.

Fu Yueli turned around and saw the little duck running towards them fearlessly.

Shi Mingyue put down her hands, and the little duck jumped up by itself. She picked up the little duck, and the little duck stood obediently in her hands and quacked twice.

"Why did you run here alone?" Shi Mingyue turned around and saw that the ducks on the lake had disappeared. It seemed that they had gone home, so was this little duck lost?

Seeing this, Fu Yueli said softly, "Since you like it, take it home and raise it."

The duckling had light yellow fur and black eyes, and was very cute. Shi Mingyue nodded and smiled, "Okay, but I wonder how Pipi will react when he sees it."

Speaking of this, Fu Yueli was also curious about Pippi's reaction.
