Even with the door closed, Phil Gray could still feel the divine power of fate permeating the room.
It has to be said that this person impersonating him might actually be quite capable.
Time passed slowly. Caroline leaned against the door, even pressing her ear close to the crack in the door, trying to hear what was happening inside.
Eli took out a few small wooden stools and placed them against the wall.
“Are we going to stay at the door the whole time?” Eli asked.
Phil Gray, however, was not bored. He was used to keeping some books in his spatial stone, and he was reading the book he had borrowed from the reading room the night before with great interest.
This text introduces some aspects of the culture of the Eastern Continent. He learns that the Eastern Continent is quite different from the East on Earth. It is still populated by people with Western features, and there are many religious sects and interesting customs.
For example, the Food God Cult is located in the Eastern Continent. Guided by the power of faith, they are able to create all kinds of extraordinary delicacies, and the headquarters of the Holy See is a food city.
However, having just experienced the Blacktooth Shark incident, the mention of the God of Cookery reminded Phil Gray of that Don, and he instantly felt a chill.
Caroline was getting a little bored. She blinked and looked at the passengers passing by. "We have to wait all day. People must be wondering what the three of us are doing here."
She stretched and said, "Maybe we don't all need to stay here; we can take turns."
Phil Gray chuckled. "If you're tired, you can go back first. We two can stay here."
Caroline pulled a pocket watch from her bosom. Its exquisite design, inlaid with gold crystals, made Phil Gray even more convinced that this young lady's identity was not simple.
"It's almost noon. I'll go take a break and then bring you some lunch," Caroline said to the two of them, glancing at the time.
"good."
Watching Caroline walk away happily, Phil Gray smiled. "Could she be the daughter of some important figure in the Cult of Dawn?"
Eli raised an eyebrow and laughed, "A big shot? Can that person's status be as high as yours? When we get to the Church of Dawn and she sees that you've become their Holy Son, she'll probably be scared to death, hahaha."
“The title of Holy Son is nothing special, but I now have a new understanding of the financial resources of the Dawn Cult, and I’m starting to get impatient,” Phil Gray said casually.
“Yes, the Church of Dawn is a great sect that has always been in its golden age. With so many years of accumulation, they have an immeasurable amount of resources.” Eli’s eyes also lit up. “You’d better give me a raise when the time comes, and give me one of those Dawn Crystals every month.”
"Of course, of course."
They laughed and joked around, and soon it was noon. After finishing her meal, Caroline came over with two waiters carrying a small round table.
Then look at the round table, which is laden with a sumptuous feast.
They placed the table in the hallway by the door, attracting curious glances from the gentlemen and ladies passing by. Even a gentleman wearing a black hat, leaning on a cane, stopped to watch.
Caroline patted her chest. "How about that? Aren't I so great? I brought you so much food, you can't possibly finish it all."
Phil Gray sighed, "You could have just put it in your space stone and brought it over. Why did you have to carry the table all the way here?"
Eli covered his mouth and laughed, looking at Caroline's suddenly realized expression, and thinking back to her unrestrained manner just now, he suddenly felt that this young lady was quite different from the other noble ladies before.
However, the Church of Dawn worships day prophets, and the sun symbolizes courage and vitality. Women who grow up in such an environment may indeed be more cheerful and outgoing.
"Alright, I've brought everything, let's enjoy it together!" Caroline stamped her foot, thanked the two waiters, and then politely asked the onlookers to leave.
"Should we invite the people inside to eat with us? What if it disrupts his ceremony... Never mind, let's leave some for him to come out on his own," Phil Gray said, looking at the door of the fake Phil.
Caroline nodded, listlessly resting her chin on her hand and fiddling with the decorations on her long dress.
They had lunch in the corridor, though they were occasionally given the kind of stares that made them look like monkeys by passing passengers.
Phil Gray thought to himself, "Thank goodness he's wearing a mask, so it won't matter how much he embarrasses himself."
But just as he was about to clear away the dishes, he felt a gaze different from that of the other passengers, like a sharp and cold sword tip piercing his back. He looked sharply in the direction of that gaze, but there was only an empty corridor.
Those favored by the gods at the highest level could not be mistaken; someone must be watching them.
Phil Gray lowered his eyes, pondering carefully: who was secretly observing them?
Once they put on the masks, no one could tell their identities. The forces targeting the Pope of Fate shouldn't be able to find them. Moreover, if those hostile forces came to the ship, they should be targeting the imposter inside.
They were now in a passive position and needed to be vigilant at all times. He whispered a few words to Eli, which made Eli frown.
"Could it be the person who was completely wrapped in white that day?" Eli said softly.
"It's uncertain. Perhaps we should try to find out more proactively."
Caroline looked up. She was a little sleepy, but then she heard their whispers and instantly perked up. "What are you talking about?"
“Nothing, the food is getting cold. Aren’t the people inside coming out?” Phil Gray’s gaze turned toward the door.
"How would I know? Alright, I'll take this table back. You all keep watch. If Pope Phil comes out, give him this food." Caroline picked up the table and left easily.
"OK."
Caroline returned quickly and soon leaned against the wall to doze off.
Phil Gray was also a little sleepy. He stood up and rubbed his eyes. Although those favored by the gods didn't have to worry about nearsightedness, the habit he had developed on Earth still made him relax his eyes every now and then.
His noise woke Caroline, who groggily took out her pocket watch. "Oh my goodness, it's already three in the afternoon." Looking at the now completely cold food on the floor, she exclaimed, "Why isn't he coming out yet? Has something happened?"
Eli, who was writing down his experiences in cultivating flowers in a notebook, pressed his ear to the door upon hearing this, but it was completely quiet inside, without a sound.
Phil Gray carefully sensed the divine power within and realized that he had been so engrossed in reading that he hadn't noticed when the divine power had disappeared.
He felt a slight unease, glanced at Caroline, and then reached out to knock on the door, but after waiting a moment, he heard no response.
"What's going on?" Caroline was a little nervous and had a vague sense of unease.
Eli quickly pushed open the door, only to find that there was nothing inside; it was clean and tidy, like a guest room that had never been lived in.
