Chapter 17 The Parish of Life

"It's nothing, I just suddenly remembered why you came to Kao City."

"My purpose in coming to Kao City..." Patrick clutched his heart, "Waaaaah, my Edith!"

"Why did Miss Edith marry someone else?" Phil Gray asked.

“I don’t know, but she’s never shown any interest in me. I’ve always been the one pursuing her, and she’s never responded to me,” Patrick said with a bitter face.

"Alright, you'll meet a better girl in the future."

“No, you know what? I was captivated the moment I saw her. The sunlight shone on her, and she was as beautiful as a goddess!” Patrick reminisced.

"Moreover, she gave me the city lord's token before. If it weren't for that token, we wouldn't have been able to leave the city."

“We’re on this train now, what if the Vatican comes after us?” Phil Gray forcefully pulled his cousin out of his reverie.

"Ah? No, the Great Train was made by the Church of Creation and the Church of Eternity. Because it connects various cities and countries and is used by nobles, it is very important and is jointly maintained by various churches. Even if they come after us, they will not dare to make a move on the train."

"And to put it bluntly, although the Church of Destiny was powerful in our diocese, it has declined and is not even as good as some other churches in the past." Patrick blinked, suddenly realizing that his cousin was the Pope of the Church of Destiny.

He hurriedly added, "However, once we get rid of those apostates, we will surely be able to revitalize the church and restore the Church of Destiny to its former glory."

Phil Gray sighed.

Eliminating traitors is no easy task. They are already at the level of divine revelation and are about to break through to divine descent, while I am just a beginner among the chosen ones.

The train, carrying a full load of distinguished guests, moved steadily through the plains and valleys.

Phil Gray looked out the window. The scenery around him was changing, and he could occasionally see a small village or a nobleman's manor.

It wasn't until he saw snowflakes falling that he realized the world of Will had entered winter.

"Ladies and gentlemen, we are about to enter the city of Duer, which is under the jurisdiction of the Church of Life. Guests who are getting off the bus, please make preparations in advance."

After a day and a night, Phil Gray heard the sounds echoing in the carriage.

He shook Patrick, who was still fast asleep, and saw that his servants had already packed his things.

"Cousin, have we arrived?" Patrick looked out of the car. This city was clearly different from the cities in the territory of the Church of Destiny. It was full of life. Although it was covered with snow, the streets were full of lush green plants.

Patrick was about to get out of the car when Phil Gray stopped him, pointing to his short gray hair, "It's better to hide it."

“Cousin, don’t worry. There are many gray-haired people in the Church of Life parish. As far as I know, the Gilbert family and the Hughes family are all gray-haired.” Patrick covered his hair, not wanting his cousin’s clothes to cover his head anymore.

“It’s better to be cautious. Do you have any hair dye or disguise products, like the transformation slime I use?” Phil Gray asked.

"Who brings these things to a wedding?"

Patrick looked into his pockets and asked the servant beside him, who shook his head.

"Let's leave it at that for now. Let's find a place to stay first, and then we'll figure out how to get some more."

After they disembarked, the train traversed the city streets, taking its distinguished guests to even more distant places.

The city of Duer is much larger than the city of Kao, and it is also more lively and prosperous.

They found a hotel on the street and checked in.

Do you have enough money?

“To be honest, it’s not enough. I only came out to attend Edith’s wedding, and I didn’t bring much money with me. Look, I have fifty gold coins left.” Patrick said, conjuring up a bag of gold coins out of thin air and placing it on the table.

"Oh right, cousin, after you become a chosen one of the gods, you can use space stones just like me."

"The Creation God Cult has made many space stones, which can hold all sorts of things, and when you take them out, they are still in their original state."

He took off a necklace from his neck, which had a small blue gemstone on it, and said with some pride, "Look, this is a space stone. But I only have this one. It was a coming-of-age gift from my father."

Phil Gray glanced at it, then seemed to realize something. He showed his left wrist. "Take a look and see if this is a regular sapphire or a space stone?"

It was the bracelet Wilder had given him that day.

Patrick tentatively infused the gem with divine power, and it emitted a faint blue light.

"It's a space stone! And such a big one!" Patrick exclaimed in surprise.

He quickly calmed down.

"Cousin, is it from the Vatican's collection?" Patrick asked. Although his cousin was an ordinary person, he was, after all, the Pope, so he must have a lot of good things.

"No, it was given to me by my previous knight. How do I use it?"

Phil Gray looked at the bracelet with a puzzled expression. So Wilder had given him a space stone?

What is the purpose?

Patrick said "Oh," and explained, "You just need to infuse your divine power into it, and then concentrate your will on the item you want to collect or retrieve."

"Okay, I'll give it a try."

With a thought, Phil Gray saw the bag of gold coins vanish from his sight.

“Huh? My money.” Patrick’s face fell.

"I'm not asking for your money."

Phil Gray took it out again. He had just looked at it and found that the space inside the space stone was also quite large, enough for more than twenty cubic meters.

However, it was completely empty.

"Young master, dinner is here."

The servant knocked on the door and brought in dinner.

They heard a commotion downstairs.

The inn has three floors; the second and third floors are for living, while the ground floor is a tavern.

“Gene, what’s going on down there?” Patrick asked.

“There’s a gentleman down there doing magic tricks, producing lots of flowers. He must be one of the gods,” Gene replied.

“Oh? Let’s go down and take a look,” Patrick said to Phil Gray with interest.

As the three of them descended the stairs, they saw a man in a suit holding bright red flowers, offering them to the ladies and wives seated at the table. He had long blond hair, a high nose, and deep-set eyes.

"Only flowers and beautiful women should not be wasted," he said with a smile, eliciting shy smiles from many young ladies.

Phil Gray found an empty table and sat down.

After the flowers were distributed, the man, seeing that he had attracted everyone's attention, cleared his throat and gave an elegant bow. "Everyone, the flower show in Duer City is in a few days. I am skilled at cultivating various precious flowers. If you can sponsor me with some gold coins so that I can buy enough seeds and growth solution, I will repay you three times over if I win first place."

A young lady in a blue dress was the first to instruct her maid to give him three gold coins.

"Thank you." A blue iris was given as a token of gratitude.

"You think you can win first place at the flower show? You're probably just using that as an excuse to scam money from young girls, aren't you?" a voice suddenly appeared.
