Chapter 36 Assisting in the Investigation

Back at the tavern, the four sat at the table and chatted.

Phil Gray casually flipped through the book, trying to figure out how the God of Dreams' chosen ones used a book to trap people in illusions, but he didn't dare to look too deeply.

It wasn't until Eli stood up that they saw a lady in a sky-blue dress and a cotton cloak walk into the tavern.

“This is the young lady who gave you three gold coins that day,” Patrick said with a grin.

“Miss, do you remember me?” Eli smiled and offered her a blue iris.

"Miss, it's the same person from last time!" her maid exclaimed in surprise.

"Ah, it's you." She took the flowers, her smile revealing two dimples, and placed the cloak on the table next to them. "How did it go? Did you win first place at the flower show?"

"Of course, thanks to your sponsorship, Miss."

Eli smiled, nine gold coins appearing in his palm. "These are yours."

The maid took the gold coins from her mistress, her gaze filled with adoration.

"Didn't you know I won first place? Didn't I go to the flower show?"

Eli sat down next to her.

He felt that the young lady had not attended the flower show, whether it was the one in the square or the one in the cathedral.

"Yes, my sister has been acting strangely these past few days. She keeps calling out a name into thin air and has even secretly run away from home. I'm worried about her, so I've been taking care of her," the girl in the blue dress said with some distress.

"Call me by a name? Is it Peter?"

Phil Gray suddenly interjected.

"That sounds like the name. How did you know?" She looked at Phil Gray in surprise.

"Did your sister read a book called 'Peter and Anna'?" Eli asked in a low voice.

"I think so. It sounds familiar. She read a book a few days ago. She didn't like reading before, but I don't remember the title." The woman in the blue dress looked around. "How did you know?"

Eli recounted the events, earning a worried look from the girl in the blue dress. She stood up and said, "So that's how it is. I was wondering why my sister was acting so strangely. I have to go back and keep an eye on her."

"Haven't you read this book?"

She shook her head, her face slightly flushed. "I've never been interested in books, not even novels."

"That's good."

"Also, remind your family not to watch it, and if possible, send your sister to the Cathedral of Life as soon as possible," Phil Gray advised.

"good."

After she left, Patrick said, "I didn't expect this book to actually become popular among upper-class aristocratic ladies, but that has nothing to do with us. The Church of Life should be able to handle it."

“Yes, we just need to mind our own business.” Eli raised an eyebrow and took another bottle of wine from the tavern owner. “Come on, drink up!”

Ernest remained silent. Although he deeply hated the Dream God's chosen ones who committed evil deeds at will and wanted to find them, his current task was to protect the Pope.

It was a peaceful and tranquil night.

The next day, they went to the Cathedral of Life again, intending to take on a more reliable mission.

There were quite a few people at the church today, and more than a dozen people were receiving missions in the God's Chosen Mission Hall on the third floor.

Before they even reached the Mirror of Life, they heard a voice behind them, "That's wonderful! You've come at just the right time. I was just trying to find you."

Phil Gray turned around and saw the elderly priest from yesterday, who was in charge of the Mission Hall.

"Is there something you need?"

"Follow me."

They followed the pastor into another room, where there was another person who was not wearing a pastor's robe, but dressed as an ordinary person.

He was probably around 30 years old, with a layer of black beard on his chin.

"This is Morey, the captain of the Tulip Knights squad in Durr City. He's in charge of investigating yesterday's incident," the priest introduced.

“Hello.” Morey extended his hand to Phil Gray.

Phil Gray nodded, and after the handshake, asked, "Hello, what brings you here?"

“You accepted mission 2203 yesterday, so you must know something about it. Besides, I’m really short-handed here. Many of the core members of the team went with the bishop to deal with the last flower show. I would like to ask you to help me complete the investigation. After the investigation is completed, I will not only give you the original 500 gold coins, but also the 20% that Pastor Horn promised you yesterday, which is 100 gold coins.” Morey looked at them and said solemnly.

What do you guys think?

Phil Gray was actually quite tempted; 600 gold coins, which he might not be able to earn in a short time from other missions.

"Cousin, we can assist in the investigation of this matter."

“I’m fine with it too,” Eli waved his hand.

Ernest was even less likely to have any objections.

“Okay, we’re willing. What do you need us to do?” Phil Gray asked.

"You said yesterday that the person who gave Miss Julie the book 'Peter and Anna' was one of her friends from the gathering? Can we find that person?"

“It was Miss Julie’s maid who told me. That gathering was a gathering of the chosen ones. She never mentioned the attendees to her maid or her father, so I’m afraid only she knows who they are,” Phil Gray replied.

“No, cousin, do you remember that nobleman from yesterday? He also attended that gathering, and he said he met Miss Julie there.” Patrick slapped his forehead and suddenly said.

“It’s rare for me to be so clever,” Eli said with a smile.

“Yes, he might know.” Phil Gray nodded.

"What brings you here?" Caesar sat awkwardly opposite Phil Gray and the others.

He had just gotten up when he was pulled to the cathedral by knights from the Church of Life. To his surprise, the four people who had taken on the same mission as him the day before were also there.

"What bad luck," he thought to himself, but dared not show it on his face.

"Hello, I'm Morey, the captain of the Tulip Knights." Morey introduced himself first, then asked, "Did you and Miss Julie attend the same gathering of the Chosen Ones?"

“Yes, every Sunday afternoon at three o’clock, we gather at the lakeside garden in the Rose District to share our experiences of the week and discuss matters concerning the Chosen Ones,” Caesar explained.

"Do you know who Miss Julie's female friends were at the rally?" Morey asked again.

"I... I only know that she always sits with a lady named Sheila, so maybe they're on good terms."

"Is her name Sheila Gilbert?" Morey asked again.

"Huh? Is she Miss Gilbert?" Caesar looked surprised.
