Chapter 144 Arrival in Durr

"It's okay, let's continue."

Phil Gray smiled, naturally not minding.

They played until night fell, when the ghosts joined in, and Phil Gray introduced several other ways to play.

"We'll be in the infected area tomorrow morning. Should we get off and take a look around when we transfer?" Eli stretched, mainly speaking to Frank.

The old ghost seemed eager to see different scenery.

"The area controlled by the plague? What's so interesting about that? It's full of corpses and disease." Frank shook his head; this was the first time he had ever been unwilling to look at the scenery of a certain place.

Phil Gray recalled what they had seen and heard on their way here, and wondered why this long train could not go directly to the Dark Night Parish, but had to transit through the plague zone.

...

Stepping onto the land of the infected area, the air thick with the smell of disease, accompanied by violent coughing, made the group frown slightly.

Phil Gray covered his mouth and nose with his sleeve and followed behind Eli, who was holding several bouquets of flowers. The fragrance of the flowers barely dispelled some of the germs in the air.

"Cough cough cough, Mom, I want to leave here. I heard there are no diseases in the cities outside." A clear little boy's voice came from outside. Phil Gray turned around and saw a woman with unsteady steps leading a little boy.

The little boy was pale, coughing constantly, and his nose and eyelids were red.

The woman's face changed, and she slapped the boy across the face. "Shut up! This is a gift from the gods. You don't know how to be grateful, and you still want to leave here?"

The slap left no mark because she was too weak and had no strength.

The little boy didn't say anything, because he saw the healthy passengers getting off the bus, including Eli holding flowers. Life and health were so far away from him, and his eyes showed envy.

“Sigh!” Phil Gray sighed.

He stopped, turned a corner, and, under the horrified gaze of the boy's mother, handed the little boy a flower of destiny. "Only with enough power can you leave here, control the disease, and contain it."

Taking him away is unrealistic; the little boy can't possibly follow them. Besides, there are too many children here who longed for life and health in their youth, but under the influence of a morbid environment and their parents, they've become yet another perverted religious follower. They simply can't control them all.

Therefore, the little boy had to rely on himself.

To completely change this place, I can only hope that I will be able to gain enough power in the future.

They quickened their pace, and even Frank frowned as they boarded the next train.

The oppressive feeling finally dissipated from my heart.

“Alright, shall we continue our battle against the nobles?” Eli suggested.

"Um."

They were playing cards on the train and even bought tickets for the ghost, which naturally attracted the attention of the person in charge of the train.

The person in charge, a member of the Eternal Church, watched with great interest and asked Phil Gray if this method could be promoted, perhaps by cooperating with commercial churches so that he could receive a steady stream of patent fees.

Phil Gray shook his head. He hadn't actually invented it. It was fine to play around with, but he would feel guilty if he actually made money from it.

The person in charge showed a regretful expression.

After several days of travel and another transfer in the Dark Night Parish, they finally arrived in Dur City, the city of the Church of Life that they had been away from for so long.

It was winter when I left, but now it's spring. The city is brimming with life, and you can feel your spirits lifted just by taking a deep breath.

Phil Gray thinks he could settle here someday, since the residents here probably have a longer life expectancy than in other cities.

"We've finally arrived." Eli jumped out of the car. As a chosen one of the gods of life, coming here truly felt like coming home, even though the house he had lived in before was also rented.

Frank looked around, but unfortunately, his summoning time was almost up.

“Mr. Frank, you’ve been with us for several days now. Why don’t you go back and rest? After all, you are a spirit, and being illuminated by the light of the Day Prophet for too long has weakened your spirit body,” Phil Gray said worriedly.

"Okay, see you next time."

After the ghost disappeared, they easily found their way to the Dotz Inn. Along the way, there were blooming flowers and newly sprouting buds, and several children were playing and laughing, creating a joyful atmosphere.

Phil Gray thought of the area where the infected people had passed through a few days earlier, and the contrast was too stark.

In such a world, faith determines everything.

The tavern on the ground floor was full of people, and the owner even remembered their faces behind their masks, while Patrick's valet was chatting with the owner.

"Ah, where is my young master?" Gene asked anxiously after bowing respectfully to Phil Gray.

“Your young master is sailing the seas with the girl he likes. This is a letter from him with an address inside. He wants you to go find him.” Phil Gray handed him the letter Patrick had given him. They couldn’t take Gene with them on their trip to the Cult of Dawn, nor could they leave Gene in the hotel indefinitely.

"Okay." Gene nodded and excitedly ran upstairs.

“We should go collect our pay now.” Phil Gray and his companions had a hot beer at the tavern, rested for a while, and then headed toward the Cathedral of Life.

“Hey? That person looks familiar.” Eli pointed to the man squatting at the church entrance.

Phil Gray looked closely and realized it was Ron, the businessman who had been with them at the flower show earlier.

He looks very anxious. What happened?
