Phil Gray glanced at the sky. Although it was almost evening, there was still some time before the banquet. Why was Pope Dawn suddenly summoning the representatives of various religions ahead of schedule? Could something have happened?
With a touch of unease, he and Dwyer stepped out of the room, smiling and greeting the representatives traveling with them in the corridor. The servant who had come to call for them saw him, stepped slightly to his side, and whispered, "Your Highness, it seems there is news about Miss Melody and Prince Vincent."
Phil Gray felt a little relieved.
Upon entering the cathedral, the atmosphere was somewhat subdued.
Pope Dawn frowned, his expression grave, while Elders Memphis and Aubrey stood beside him, their faces contorted with anger.
The representatives from various religions who entered greeted Pope Dawn in turn, but Pope Dawn only nodded slightly, appearing somewhat absent-minded.
Before the Pope could speak, Elder Memphis clenched his fists angrily and said, "Damn the Crimson Calamity, I'm going to destroy their lair!"
Aubrey scoffed, "They've crossed the line! Your Majesty, please allow us to go."
The Pope waved his hand, exhaled, and neither agreed nor disagreed.
The atmosphere fell silent again.
"Your Majesty, have Miss Melody and Prince Vincent been found?" Phil Gray asked, judging from the elders' reactions, could they have been kidnapped by a cult?
"Yes. Elder Nancy, show them the situation over there." The Pope nodded and gave the order.
The old woman, leaning on a golden cane, stood up, and two tall servants brought over a life-size mirror and placed it in front of everyone.
She gently waved her cane, and a golden light flashed on the mirror, gradually reflecting a picture.
"Distinguished representatives, this cane of mine is a sacred relic of the White Prophet. As long as an item closely connected to its owner is found, it can reveal the scene of the owner's location and display it through a mirror." Elder Nancy first briefly introduced the function of the sacred relic, and then continued, "After our Dawn's Miss Melody and Holy Son Vincent went missing, I tried to search using their personal belongings, but the scene shown by the cane was chaotic, so I had to give up. Unexpectedly, this afternoon Elder Memphis asked me to find his granddaughter Miss Caroline, and I unexpectedly discovered that all three of them were currently in the territory of the Crimson Calamity."
As Elder Nancy's voice rang out, four young people appeared in the mirror, sitting around a worn-out red round table.
On the round table were some porcelain plates filled with bloody substances, which appeared to be animal entrails.
Caroline, whom Phil Gray hadn't seen in a long time, was one of them. She tilted her head, her fair fingers gently picking up the red blood food, her lips parted in a grin, and she held it under her nose with great interest.
Good heavens, it's been so long, and you've become so monstrous?
Phil Gray was somewhat shocked.
Vincent the Holy Son also lowered his head, twisted his neck, and sniffed the things on the table at an extremely fast speed, as if they were ferocious wild beasts of the wilderness, rather than normal humans.
Miss Melody glanced disdainfully at the things on the table, snorted, stood up, and said something to the other pale-faced young man.
The young man then respectfully withdrew.
Phil Gray felt he looked familiar. Wait, it was the plague maker that Commander Upton had killed in the water mirror that day!
Even the most oblivious person could realize that these three people no longer seemed to be themselves!
Could it be that it's possessed by something?
Before I could read any further, I heard Memphis roar, "Damn it! Damn it! I'll never forgive them!"
"Quiet!"
The Pope of Dawn gave a cold shout, which calmed the agitated Memphis down somewhat.
The young plague-controller in the mirror walked over carrying a trembling little girl and said something respectfully. At the same time, the three men revealed greedy eyes.
Just as everyone held their breath, staring intently at the image in the mirror, Melody chuckled softly. She turned her face toward the void in the sky, directly meeting their gaze:
"Little mice, would you like to be our dinner?"
In an instant, three more faces turned toward them, revealing eerie smiles to everyone.
With a "crack," the mirror suddenly shattered, and Elder Nancy groaned as if she had been injured, forcing her to withdraw her divine power.
The silence was eerily quiet for a moment, and even though the representatives of each religion were all divinely inspired figures, they were still quite frightened.
Phil Gray's heart sank. What was it that could detect the spying on the sacred object and even turn against an elder who had been demoted to godhood?
Elder Memphis's face darkened; he wanted to say something, but swallowed it back.
The voice of the Pope of Dawn rang out: "What are your thoughts?"
The members of the other sects exchanged bewildered glances, their brows furrowed. Only Mr. Dwyer sighed and replied, "Such power and performance suggest that your holy son and princess may have been possessed by those deities."
"The god of disaster? The god of plague? The god of disease? These three gods?"
"No way? With the God of Life above, how could a deity directly possess a follower of another sect? Aren't they afraid of angering other gods?"
"Yes, and he's the chosen one of the prophets of the day. Are they deliberately provoking us? Aren't they afraid of starting a war of the gods?"
For a time, there was much discussion. Phil Gray was also puzzled. Gods never interfered in human affairs. There were several instances in history where many sects joined forces to eradicate the Blood Calamity and the Plague Controllers, but Gods did not intervene then. They simply waited in their respective divine kingdoms for batches of new believers to appear. After all, as long as there are gods, faith will not be interrupted.
Moreover, he felt that not interfering in the struggles between various sects in the human world seemed to have become a tacit rule among the gods. Whether it was the rise of dreams, the decline of night, or the rise of dawn as the dominant force, although it was inevitable that the gods would give their instructions, they would never come in person.
"Then how can we fight against them?" someone asked worriedly, even showing signs of wanting to retreat.
Anyway, since it was Dawn who started it, and those who were possessed were their followers, and the other sects haven't suffered any losses, they can just withdraw now, and perhaps those gods won't pursue the matter.
"Could we also ask our respective gods for some help?" The woman from the Food God Cult shook her head after saying this. Her own gods had no other authority besides making food and ensuring a good harvest, and they were probably no match for the three gods.
Although those three deities were gods, their destructive power was extraordinary!
Moreover, whether the gods can even respond to their requests is another question.
What exactly do they want to do?
The representatives from each religion had countless ideas flashing through their minds, and the discussion was extremely heated.
But the Dawn faction fell silent. After a long while, the Pope of Dawn slowly surveyed the crowd and said, "Everyone, no matter what, our resolve at Dawn will never change. Wherever those three gods have gone, disaster and bloodshed follow. If we do not fight back, are we just going to watch the entire continent become sacrifices to them? Moreover, I believe that our gods will not stand idly by, and the brilliance of the Prophet of the Day will not tolerate any defilement!"
