Chapter 202 Unexpected Storm

Frank looked at him with an expression that said, "I don't believe you."

Don't be fooled by his innocent and polite appearance; he's probably got a lot of bad intentions out there. He's been very accurate at judging people and the dead for years!

"If it's a god, which god could have caused this?" Phil Gray looked up. The obscured sky was heavy and oppressive, like a sinking abyss.

Except for the fact that you can't see the sun, you can experience wind, rain, thunder, and lightning here.

He could hear faint rumbles of thunder, which meant it was about to rain.

So, is he a daytime prophet?

He once abandoned them, but now He has sent Himself to redeem them.

Or perhaps the god of death? After all, everything here seems like an abyss on earth.

"I don't know, but I think if we knew which god's power caused it, we might be able to find a solution," Frank said slowly, then changed the subject, "By the way, I didn't come out to discuss this with you. Our business has gotten its first customer."

"Oh? What is the compensation? What are the requirements?"

"Hmm...you know this client too, he's the lord of our City of Ten Thousand Bones." Frank coughed lightly, glancing at Phil Gray. "Although I've testified to your abilities, my friends aren't entirely convinced of your skills. So I'm asking you, Lord, to be the first to go, so the other undead will believe, and we can get more and more clients. The reward is what you requested before: the lord will help you once. He's a degraded god-level skeleton, he'll surely be able to meet your requirements, right?"

Although it was somewhat unexpected, it did meet his requirements very well.

“Alright, but I probably need to deal with things here first. I doubt the lord would want to see a sky like the Abyss.” Phil Gray pointed upwards.

"Of course, here you go. This is a token. Just summon him when the time is right. He just wants to see the scenery of the human world; he has no other requests." Frank took out a small bone flute.

It's very tiny, like something a child would blow up.

Phil Gray took it and put it in his storage space, finding it somewhat amusing.

Given his actions, what should have been a ritual to summon the dead became a ritual where the dead gave him a token, which he then used to summon them. The offerings became tokens, which is quite amusing.

Just then, he felt raindrops falling on his face, and the raindrops became more and more frequent, and he also heard a loud clap of thunder.

"Wow, it's hailing here?" Frank exclaimed in surprise.

Phil Gray also felt it; the hailstones, the size of fists, were relentlessly pelting down. He hurriedly mobilized his divine power to form a protective shield around his body.

No wonder the people here have to hide under the rocks; this hail is pretty fierce.

He had just breathed a sigh of relief when he heard Frank's voice again:

"Something's wrong, a big storm is coming..."

Unfortunately, the whistling and sharp wind pierced his ears, and Frank's voice was swallowed up in an instant.

Immediately afterwards, he felt a powerful force envelop him, instantly lifting him into the air, with a storm propelling his body toward an unknown direction.

"Oh my god! Frank—" His voice was so small that he couldn't even hear it himself.

At this moment, the storm, like an enraged beast, swept across the lonely island with boundless fury and destruction.

Phil Gray struggled against the storm, trying to use his divine power to stabilize his body, but at this height, he was simply powerless.

Before the power of nature, his radiant divine power of dawn was like a flickering candle in the wind, swaying uncertainly.

Phil Gray felt unlucky; the storm had come too suddenly. He struggled to open his eyes, but Frank's figure had already become blurred in the howling wind.

Meanwhile, the ghost, who had just realized what was happening, swallowed hard.

"My God, how could there be such a huge storm? This is something I've never seen before, not even in my life." Frank stared in disbelief as Phil Gray got further and further away from him, and then, bound by his undead companion, he could only chase after him as fast as he could.

Phil Gray gritted his teeth, trying to break free from the storm, but the storm's power was like an invisible giant hand, gripping his body tightly.

He didn't know how far he had been carried, but the storm's power weakened, and its terrifying force gradually disappeared. Finally, he seized the opportunity, mustered all his divine power, and leaped into the air—

Like a shooting star, Phil Gray fell onto the island in a flash of golden light. Despite being protected by divine power, he instantly lost consciousness.

Frank the ghost, who had been following behind, quickly dragged the unconscious man to the bottom of a pit under a large rock nearby.

...

"Cough cough."

When Phil Gray opened his eyes again, he found himself lying on a desolate ground.

He felt as if all the bones in his body were shattered, and he couldn't help but show an ugly expression.

This is bad! He's gotten separated from Elder Eli and the others!

"Finally awake? The summoning time is almost over, I have to leave soon," Frank said resentfully.

“No way, I’ve been lying here for almost a day?” Phil Gray asked incredulously.

"Yes, you must have fallen asleep later. I first took you under that rock, but that pit was too stuffy, and I was afraid you would suffocate, so I carried you out again."

"Oh, I see. Thank you!"

Phil Gray expressed his sincere gratitude, then slowly stood up, wiped the dust off his clothes, and looked around.

The storm overturned many stone houses, and few of the landmark stones that guided the way remained. Even if some were left, he couldn't be sure if the direction hadn't changed.

But he felt he could only meet them in the center of the island, so he had to go to the temple in the center of the island.

Phil Gray sighed.

“A few strange-looking people came by just now, thinking you were dead, and tried to drag you away. They probably wanted to roast you and eat you. Luckily, I showed up and scared them away,” Frank said with a laugh. “If you had hidden under the rocks earlier, you probably wouldn’t have been swept away by the storm. In all these years, you’re the first person I’ve ever seen kidnapped by a storm!”

Phil Gray rolled his eyes and ignored him.

"Alright, alright, I just saw those people put the stone marker in the right place, so the direction should be fine. I have to go now, goodbye!" Frank waved to him.

Okay, see you next time.

After seeing Frank off, Phil Gray carefully proceeded in the direction indicated by the stone marker.

I wonder how Ernest and Eli are doing. They must be very worried about me. And the elders, His Highness the Holy Son just went to the toilet and disappeared. He and the Knights of the Light must be going crazy.

Although his situation wasn't great, Phil Gray couldn't help but laugh and cry at the thought.

He carefully followed the direction of the stone marker. This time, he didn't use too much divine power for illumination, but just enough to make sure he could see the path under his feet, so as not to attract the attention of other islanders and affect his journey.

He walked and stopped for about two or three days, and then he saw more and more islanders and the stone houses became more and more densely packed. It seemed that he was about to reach the temple.

Most of the people here can see in the dark. In order not to be discovered and cause more trouble, he completely abandoned the plan to use divine power for lighting. He took out the Skull Spirit Fire that he had used in the Abyss from the Death Stone to light his way and pretended that he had found it by chance.

This deceived many islanders.

His sunny appearance was covered by a black cloth, and with his deliberately hunched posture, he looked no different from the other islanders.

Finally, he arrived at the center of the island and saw the temple that the islanders had described.

The temple was far more magnificent than Phil Gray had imagined.

It's truly unimaginable that such ingenious architecture could be hidden on this perpetually dark island; its very existence is a miracle.

Without trees as beams, it was built entirely of stone and mud, and unlike other temples, this temple was built underground, a magnificent underground palace!

Thinking back to those islanders living in caves, I had a feeling that I knew it all along.

The temple's outer walls are entirely constructed of rough stones, the marks of time etched into every crevice, telling a silent story of the dark island.

He walked down the stone steps, and the interior space was shockingly spacious, as if the center of the entire island had been hollowed out to form a huge underground palace.

The towering stone pillars stand like guardian deities, supporting the heavy dome. Each pillar is carved with intricate sun patterns, all kinds of suns, normal ones, distorted ones... These people have poured their emotions of awe, longing, and madness into these sun patterns, making them incredibly terrifying to behold.
