Chapter 282 Mysterious Disappearance

The underwater world is exceptionally beautiful, but it is also fraught with danger.

Phil Gray swam cautiously and finally reached the entrance to the underwater city in the darkness.

"That pirate queen was truly remarkable to build such a large underwater city to store her treasures," Phil Gray exclaimed.

“Let’s go in. The door is already open, and I have a feeling that quite a few people have already come in.” Hei Ye jumped off his back, paddled in the water, and swam towards the door first.

Just as Phil Gray was about to catch up with the black cat, he heard several exclamations behind him.

"My God, am I seeing things? How come I see a black cat swimming in the sea?"

"I think I saw that too. Wait, there's another person up ahead. Why isn't he wearing this equipment?"

"They must be the favored ones of the sea goddess, right? They have this kind of ability."

Phil Gray turned his head and saw several people in transparent protective suits holding hands and swimming towards him.

They were probably all passengers who had purchased equipment from the commercial church.

He couldn't be bothered with anyone anymore, so he sped up and entered the underwater city at full speed.

The layout of the underwater city is similar to that of a city on land, with many roads extending in all directions and various buildings on both sides of the roads.

However, the houses here are very low and flat, less than half a person's height, and decorated with coral and seashells. They are definitely not for human habitation, and have accumulated thick layers of silt and dust over the years.

"Where could the treasure be?" The night was full of energy, examining the surrounding traces like a detective. Even as a god, it could not resist the temptation of treasure hunting.

Phil Gray wondered where his cousin might be. Since he was going to the South China Sea to find Edith, he must know about this underwater city. He wouldn't be so stupid as to search aimlessly on the vast ocean, would he?

“Someone else is coming.” Phil Gray pulled himself into the darkness and hid behind a clump of tall coral.

Five women dressed in tight-fitting turquoise dresses swam past them, their brows furrowed and their faces showing fear, as if they had encountered some unexpected event.

Are these all favored by the sea goddess?

Before Phil Gray could think any further, one of the women shouted towards him and the darkness, "Who's there!"

The Ocean Goddess's favored one indeed possessed keen senses in the sea. He could only reveal himself while embracing the darkness, and politely greeted them: "Hello!"

"So it really was you playing a trick on us?" One of the women, wearing a pearl earring, looked at him with suspicion.

Phil Gray shook his head in denial: "No, I just entered the underwater city and just saw you. If anything happened to you, it was definitely not me."

"Why waste your breath on him! Do you think you can hide your identity by wearing a human skin mask and changing your appearance? The sea has already told me what you look like, it's clearly you!" The woman who first discovered Phil Gray was furious, a trident appeared in her hand, and she thrust it at him.

The other women believed her and attacked Phil Gray together.

Huh, what's going on? I don't even know them, so why are we fighting?

And I was definitely wearing a mask, so how could they mistake my face?

Completely baffled, Phil Gray decided to fight first, conjuring countless blades of fate in his hands, which flew towards the women like a deluge of raindrops.

Only one of them was at the Divine Revelation level; the others were merely at the Attention level, completely insignificant in his presence.

The night, too lazy to get involved in the battle, dug up seashells on the seabed and strung the pearls inside into a necklace that was just the right size for the cat to wear.

In no time, the five women were knocked to the ground. Trembling, they looked at Phil Gray and pleaded, "We know we were wrong. We can give you back the map, just please let us go!"

"Yes, and there are our three other sisters too. Please let them come back, please!"

Phil Gray looked at their terrified eyes and was speechless for a moment: "I told you I don't know you, why are you looking for a beating?"

"Please stop joking. The map is here, and we'll return it to you. We were blinded by greed and stole your map. We accept your punishment, and we hope you'll return our other three sisters." The previously arrogant woman took out a yellowed leather map from her spatial storage and pleaded.

This woman was one of the divine beings among them, and she was also the first to discover him. She was probably their eldest sister.

Phil Gray gave her a strange look, then took the map. The map was completely unaffected by the sea, and the pattern was clear and complete. It was clearly a map of the underwater city they were in.

According to these women, they stole someone else's map, and this person even looks a lot like them? Did they mistake them for someone else?

But now that he had the map, he certainly couldn't return it to these thieves. Phil Gray said coldly, "Keep the map with me for now, but I'm definitely not the person you're talking about. Tell me everything that happened."

"It really wasn't you?"

"Don't make me say it a second time."

“Alright,” the woman in the lead gritted her teeth and confessed everything, “We arrived at this underwater city two days ago, intending to search for the Pirate Queen’s treasure. But this underwater city is too vast, and we don’t have a single clue about the treasure. At that moment, we happened to see someone who looks exactly like you holding this map. He seemed to know the location of the treasure very well, so we used some means to steal the map from him. But little did we know, our nightmare would begin from there…”

“Yes, we eight sisters did everything together, but suddenly one of our sisters disappeared without us even realizing it. I can’t even remember which sister was in the family, or what she looked like or her name…” the woman wearing a pearl earring said, crying.

The eldest sister pursed her lips and continued, "Then, another sister also mysteriously disappeared. We've forgotten everything about her, but we remember firmly that we have a total of eight sisters, and this morning, yet another sister disappeared!"

"Waaaaah, we're so scared!"

"It's terrifying! And a travel companion I met in the underwater city said that we were originally only five sisters, but he clearly said yesterday that we had six. But we remember very clearly that we had eight!"

They chattered amongst themselves, their fear evident in their words.

Phil Gray lowered his head and pondered for a moment, unable to come up with any ideas. When he looked up again, he saw only four women embracing each other.

He said expressionlessly, "Didn't you always only have four sisters?"

"ah!"

"ah!"

The screams seemed to pierce through the seawater and reach the sky. Phil Gray covered his ears. "Okay, just kidding. I know there were really five of you just now. Looks like one of you has disappeared again."

The older woman looked flustered. "But we've forgotten which sister disappeared."

"Is it Xiao Si? Or Xiao Ba?"

"But I remember I was Xiao Si."

"..."

Phil Gray frowned and said, "Isn't it that guy who was wearing... what was he wearing again?"

He suddenly forgot what the missing woman looked like, but it's also possible that he's just a bit face-blind and has difficulty remembering these women who look similar.

"You mean that person looks a lot like me? Like the face under my mask?" Phil Gray asked, pointing to his own face.

"Yes." They nodded repeatedly.

He deliberately tore off the human skin mask, revealing his handsome face, and looked at them with his ice-blue and sea-like pure eyes, "Are you sure this face is exactly the same as mine?"

"Mmm." They nodded firmly again.

Phil Gray stared blankly, thinking of Victor, who had once impersonated him. Could it be him?

In the past, he used his identity to swindle and deceive people; now he's directly using his face?

Aside from Victor, he couldn't think of anyone else who would travel around with the face of the Pope of Fate, since his face was quite recognizable now.

He pondered for a moment and asked, "Where is that travel companion you just mentioned meeting in the underwater city?"

"We'll take you there!" the older sister said hurriedly.
