"My believers, the sword is not for destruction, but for peace. End the strife and let the light of dawn shine upon the earth."
Before they even set off, the mission arrived just in time. Phil Gray looked up at the sun and felt as if the Prophet of the Day was urging him on.
Just a few days ago, He completed the Proverbs of Cleansing the Traitors and was promoted to the Divine Revelation level of Dawn. Now He has sent Him to end the conflict. It seems that the situation on His side is not optimistic either.
Phil Gray pondered where to begin. Given his and Night's current strength, there was indeed a simple way to end the war: to directly eliminate the culprits.
Once the leaders of the Dream Church and the War Church are eliminated, wouldn't this war end easily?
He shared his thoughts with the Night, and the Night nodded in agreement.
"Then let's call this operation a decapitation strike!" It opened its claws, revealing sharp blades.
“Let’s go to the border first and deal with the Dream Cult,” Phil Gray said, then carefully observed the expression on Night’s face.
The goddess of dreams, who betrayed the night from God, must have been something the little one has been tolerating for a long time, along with her and her church.
"Fine, hmph, now it's time to deal with His followers. In the future, I will personally deal with Him," Night said angrily.
Phil Gray patted its head, utterly bewildered as to how such a lovable deity could be betrayed by its own follower.
They were now in the territory of Dawn, which made it inconvenient for them to ride the Skeleton Bird. Fortunately, Dawn had the Sun Pegasus, and they soon arrived at the city that bordered the Dream Realm.
News from the front lines indicates that Yachisde, the southernmost city of Dawn, and two other surrounding cities have been occupied by the Dream.
However, when Phil Gray arrived at the city of Yachisd, he found dozens of Dawn followers confronting the army of Dreams at the city gate. They included ordinary people and the lowest-ranking chosen ones, holding burning torches and with unwavering faith in their eyes.
The army of the Dream Cult was dressed in light pink armor. They were indifferent and ignored the resistance of these people. The leader, a divine prophets, snapped his fingers lightly, and one of the rebels suddenly choked himself and struggled on the ground in pain, as if he had fallen into a nightmare.
One by one, the people around him were infected and collapsed to the ground.
"Don't you get tired of this every day?"
"Yes, it's better to stay home and get a good night's sleep, and have everything in your dreams."
"These people can't enjoy their dreams; they insist on making themselves suffer. Haha."
These dream-lovers all spoke with sarcasm.
The dream-giver of divine revelation gave the order:
“You continue to watch over this city. Anyone who wakes up will be executed. Since you can’t enjoy the dream, just let them fall into eternal slumber.”
"yes."
"I wonder if Tarrol City has been captured yet. Honestly, some madman appeared out of nowhere and injured three of our elders. Otherwise, capturing a city would be a piece of cake."
Phil Gray then realized that apart from the commotion at the city gate, the rest of the city was eerily quiet; it turned out that the Dream Cult had put all the people into a deep sleep.
He didn't show himself, but instead unleashed several Fate Blades from the shadows. The rapidly spinning blades carried the powerful divine force of a God-Descended Being, and in the next moment, the heads of several people, including the God-Prophet, fell to the ground.
"who?"
"Someone's attacking!"
"team leader!"
The remaining dream followers were terrified. In the blink of an eye, their companion, who had just finished speaking, fell to the ground with his head hanging from his body. This was definitely the most terrifying nightmare they had ever experienced.
Phil Gray had no intention of dealing with them anymore; they were just small fry. He headed towards the city of Tarrol they had mentioned, where the three gods of the Dream should be located.
As expected, the city of Tarrol is currently in an extremely strange state. A huge transparent sphere is swallowing half of the city gate, while the Dawn Legion is putting up a fierce resistance at the city gate.
A disheveled woman was floating in the air, chanting something, her hands moving nimbly like snakes, seemingly manipulating the sphere.
Are they divine beings descended from the dream realm? How did they recover from their injuries so quickly?
Without a second thought, he rushed to help. Just then, a figure engulfed in flames suddenly appeared at the city gate. He spread his arms, and blazing balls of fire emanated from his body, all hurtling towards the woman in the air.
"He is...!"
Golden hair, a face that was half white and half black... Phil Gray was somewhat shocked. The guy blocking the city gate was none other than the undead senior who had come out of the Corridor of Death with him!
The woman in the air could no longer control her sphere and was scrambling to dodge the fireball attacks.
Just then, two more figures flew out, standing on either side of the woman and dispersing the fireballs for her.
The undead elder also flew into the air, once again facing the three divine beings alone!
"Damn it! Our attacks are completely ineffective against him! What kind of monster is this?!" the woman cursed. She could make anyone who looked into her eyes fall into a dreamlike illusion, but the pale eyes of the person in front of her didn't even have pupils, so they were completely useless!
The other two deities beside her also had no way to express their suffering. This guy claimed to be a chosen one of the dawn, but he clearly looked like a dead person. No matter how powerful a dream chosen one is, he can't make a dead person dream!
"Hmph, Dawn prides itself on being upright and honorable, but it might have already colluded with the Church of the Dead. Otherwise, how could it have cultivated such a monster?" the man on the left scoffed.
“Yes, otherwise why wouldn’t the Church of the Dead join us in dealing with Dawn!” the man on the right echoed.
Phil Gray overheard their conversation from a distance and thought to himself, "They were right after all. The Church of the Dead and Dawn are really together now."
Soon, the three were thoroughly defeated by this undead senior. In order to save their lives, the three abandoned their other subordinates and fled, leaving behind a declaration that they would fight again in a few days.
The undead elder did not give chase, but instead stood guard at the city gate, motionless like a statue.
Although the undead elder did not give chase, Phil Gray would not let this opportunity pass. He caught up with the three guys and unexpectedly ended their lives with the Death Scythe.
"As expected... the Church of the Dead has indeed colluded with the Dawn..." The last man glared angrily at Phil Gray, who exuded the power of death, and uttered these words with difficulty before tilting his head to the side, unable to dream any longer.
Phil Gray smiled slightly and retracted the Death Scythe. With the undead elder guarding the place, he felt at ease. Next, it was time for Dawn to counterattack. His and Night's next stop was the Dream Cult's headquarters, Phantom Night City.
...
Phantom Night City.
This place is a paradise on earth, but also a source of depravity.
Everything you desire will become a reality here. You can possess countless treasures, enjoy endless delicacies, and command thousands of believers, becoming the supreme pope.
Because this place connects to your dreams, you can even stay here for a lifetime, living a life of blissful ignorance.
Phil Gray carried the darkness directly through several cities in the dream world, arriving at their central area.
Only then did they discover that there was no prosperous city here at all, only a pass called Mengguan.
The area around Dream Pass is dotted with countless small towns, scattered in different places, but they all share one characteristic: they have no trace of life. If Phil Gray hadn't occasionally seen people lying on the ground fast asleep, he would have thought that everyone had moved away.
"These people are just sleeping on the ground like this? I feel like if the Dawn's army came, they would be powerless to resist," Phil Gray complained to the Night with a hint of helplessness.
The darkness on his shoulder didn't answer, but instead nudged his face with its little paws, and he realized that someone lying on the ground had already woken up.
The man glanced at him and said, "Try attacking these sleeping people."
Phil Gray looked at him suspiciously, not understanding what he meant.
The man gave his answer directly with his actions, picking up a large rock from his feet and casually tossing it to a woman sleeping against the wall.
Just then, a soft halo of light emanated from the woman, deflecting the stone away.
“Those who enter Phantom Night City will be protected by the goddess. No external attack can harm them. Of course, no noise can wake them unless they wake up on their own.” The man sighed, revealing an expression of immense satisfaction mixed with fear. “You are still young. Try not to go to Phantom Night City if you can avoid it, or you may become addicted to it forever.”
Phil Gray then realized that Night City was a city that did not exist in the world, because it only existed in dreams.
