Chapter 156 Contacting Headquarters

“The Holy Son Kane has come to our city of Numas, and he asked me to report to headquarters,” Morris explained.

"...Holy Son? Wait a minute."

There was silence on the other end, so they had no choice but to wait.

Morris had someone deliver supper and food to Phil Gray and his two servants, and of course, he didn't forget the little black cat on the Holy Son's shoulder.

"Does the church have any rare fish? My cat doesn't eat regular fish," Phil Gray said apologetically, stroking Night's soft fur.

Although he had some stockpiled in his space, how could he miss this opportunity to take advantage of the Dawn Cult?

“Rare fish? Perfect timing. The owner of the Food God Cult shop in the city sent me some gifts tonight. There seem to be a few Fireblood Fish in them. I had them delivered. I don’t eat them anyway.” The new city lord, Steven, sat opposite them and said kindly.

Oh, that's just what the little guy wants!

Phil Gray thanked him.

Morris was curious why the attendants beside the Holy Son were not followers of the Prophet of the Day, but rather followers of other gods, especially the brown-haired man, who looked like a trained Papal knight.

However, he did not ask, fearing it would displease the Holy Son.

He gave a brief introduction to the history and customs of Numas, and after chatting for half an hour, a voice finally came from the other side of the paper crane:

"Maurice! Is the Holy Son Kane by your side?"

"exist."

“That’s wonderful! Your Highness, His Holiness the Pope is pleased that you have come as agreed. He has sent Miss Melody to greet you. It will take about a day. During this time, we hope that Bishop Morris can give Your Highness a brief introduction to our Church and show you around.”

“Yes,” Phil Gray replied. “Please convey my respects to His Holiness the Pope.”

"You're too kind. I hope to see you soon, my dear Holy Prince."

The golden light on the paper crane slowly dissipated, turning it into an ordinary paper crane.

“Your Highness, it is getting late. Tomorrow morning I will take you on a tour of our city of Numas. We have many delicious foods here, as well as a relic left by the God of Life. I think your servant must be a favorite of the God of Life?” Morris asked.

“No, they are my good friends.” Phil Gray shook his head. “I would be happy to visit, thank you.”

"No, it's what we should do."

"By the way, who is Miss Melody that the elder across the way mentioned coming to greet me?" Phil Gray asked.

“Miss Melody is the daughter of the current Pope, so by all accounts, she should be considered the little princess of our Dawn Cult,” Morris said with a smile.

He omitted some details, such as the fact that Miss Melody and Vincent were childhood sweethearts, growing up together since they were little, and that she was deeply in love with Vincent, but Vincent ignored her.

It seems His Holiness the Pope intends to send Miss Melody here to try and match her with the new Holy Son.

However, although this man has an extraordinary temperament, his appearance is extremely ordinary, so it is likely that Miss Melody will not change her mind.

"I see." Phil Gray thought to himself, it seems that the popes of other churches are indeed quite old, and he, the pope of the Church of Destiny, should be the youngest in the papacy.

After further discussion, they moved into the church's backyard under Morris's arrangement, and were treated with the highest level of hospitality due to their status as the Son of God.

The next morning, just as the first rays of dawn pierced through the window, there was a knock on the door.

Phil Gray rose from the soft bed, opened the door, and stood two maids in long gold dresses. One of them carried a gold robe with gold sun patterns embroidered along the edges, while the other carried an open wooden box containing an exquisite sun brooch.

"What is this?" Phil Gray asked, puzzled.

"Your Highness, this is a papal robe that His Holiness the Bishop commissioned a tailor to make for you overnight. Please try it on to see if it fits," the maid said softly, her eyes filled with adoration. This was a holy son bearing the mark of God; he might very well be the next pope!

“This is a sun brooch, the emblem of our church,” another maid explained.

“I know this. I have one too. Vincent gave it to me.” Phil Gray smiled and took out an identical brooch from his storage space.

"Oh, Vincent the Holy Son? I've heard he's very warm and friendly. You can keep this one for later use."

This bishop is really thoughtful.

Phil Gray changed into his church robes and looked at himself in the mirror.

He noticed that his hair had grown quite a bit, and the new hairs were all gray, making his current hair color somewhat mottled. Fortunately, he didn't plan to dye it anymore. In the Eastern Continent, he doubted anyone would associate gray hair with the Gray family.

Besides, he thought it would be soon before he returned to the Church of Destiny in his original form.

As for the mask he is wearing now, it has been tested before. Elder Gran, who is at the level of a god descended from godhood, can see through his true face, while those below the level of a god descended from godhood cannot see through it at all.

He was just waiting for a prophecy to advance to the divine level, but the gods seemed a bit stingy and hadn't given him a new prophecy yet.

After he changed his clothes and put on the sun brooch, he followed behind the two maids waiting at the door.

Eli and Ernest, who lived next door, also woke up, and they went to the church dining room together.

The church of the Church of Dawn has chefs hired from the Church of Food, and the breakfasts they prepare are extremely lavish and delicious.

Phil Gray recalled the papal meal he had at the Church of Destiny when he first arrived in the world of Ver, and suddenly realized that there really was a difference between different religions.

After breakfast, Maurice will take them on a tour of Numas.

“Your Highness, please—” Morris’s face was beaming with smiles as he held a scepter, with Lord Steven City Lord by his side.

The new city lord also needs to have a more detailed understanding of the city.

They walked out of the church together.

A carriage drawn by four white horses, each with a tuft of golden hair on its head, was parked in front of the church. The spacious carriage had luxurious seats, and a small table hanging on the side held several wine glasses and some fresh fruit.

Phil Gray sat down, and Eli and Ernest followed suit, sitting beside him.

The carriage had two rows of seats; they, as guests, sat in the back, while the bishop and the city lord sat in the front.

“Wait, isn’t that your nephew, Lord Morris? What’s he doing loitering there?” Eli suddenly asked, pointing to the furtive figure at the church entrance.

Upon hearing this, Maurice recognized his nephew. He frowned and jumped off the carriage.
