Chapter 106 The Beginning Ceremony

"You guys go ahead, I'm going back to my room to get something," Phil Gray suddenly stopped and said, as if he had remembered something.

Caroline turned her head. "What do you need? Do you need anything?" Her eyes held a hint of suspicion and confusion. They were just around the corner from the residence of "Pope Phil." These were the only two people she knew on the ship, and after what had happened before, she considered them friends. That's why she wanted them to come along, just in case that guy was lying to her, at least she would have someone to help her.

“Some personal items… I’ll be right there, just a few minutes. You two go ahead.” Phil Gray held out his hand, gesturing for Eli and her to go first.

Eli nodded and said with a smile, "Let's go, let's go wake up that Pope first, maybe he hasn't gotten out of bed yet?"

"Oh." Caroline, holding the box, followed him.

Phil Gray, of course, didn't go back to his room. He hid around the corner, watching Caroline's retreating figure. "Phew, I still want to see if that guy's prediction is accurate, the Eye of Fate..."

Divine power gathered in his eyes, and a dimension beyond time and space appeared before him, where the river of fate continued to flow ceaselessly. He turned the pointer backward a great distance.

The sudden emptiness made him stagger involuntarily, feeling as if his divine power was being overdrawn. Fortunately, leaning against the wall helped him regain his balance. "It seems that peeking into the future consumes more divine power than going back to the past."

Gazing intently at the scene that had just appeared, Caroline, dressed in a long yellow dress, was standing in front of a small church.

A statue of the Prophet of the Day stands at the entrance of the church. Could this be the Church of Dawn on Malu Island?

With a vague feeling in his heart, Phil Gray saw her slowly walk into the church and talk to an old man who looked like a pastor, but their conversation was not harmonious. Caroline even pointed her finger at the old man's nose in a fit of anger.

Is it that serious?

Then, he saw an unbelievable scene: the priest, who had just been like a normal person, began to show signs of decay on his face, and he reached out his withered hand to grab Caroline.

The entire golden-background Church of Dawn looked as if it had been splashed with ink; the walls, floors, and even the central statues had lost their color and turned pure gray.

Caroline opened her mouth, and although the scene displayed by the River of Destiny was silent, Phil Gray could still sense that she was screaming.

Soon the entire scene of the River of Destiny turned black, and nothing could be seen.

Phil Gray stared intently, but could see nothing. This was the first time he had witnessed such a scene since using the Eye of Fate.

It seems Caroline is in real trouble, and right where she's going, the one that was burned down... wait, Phil Gray suddenly realized something was wrong. If the church had already burned down, why was Caroline looking at the intact church in the beginning?

The sound of footsteps behind him snapped Phil Gray out of his thoughts. He rubbed his eyes, but the darkness still seemed to linger before his eyes. Why had it turned black? Did it mean Caroline's life was over? Or was his ability limited, and a more powerful force was interfering with his ability to perceive fate?

Forget it, let's see how the ceremony goes in a bit. Maybe that imposter really has a way?

He turned around, but there was no one behind him.

I just heard footsteps, but I didn't hear the door open or close, and I didn't see anyone pass by. How did he disappear?

Phil Gray glanced around, but there was still no one there.

If he were still on Earth, he would have screamed "What the hell?" But now, in this world of Ver, where many extraordinary powers exist, anything is possible.

The undead are actually the easiest to deal with.

He thought for a moment, then walked in the direction they had just left.

It seemed to be this room. The door was ajar. Pushing it open, I saw some burning blue crystals on the floor, with a ring of white powder in the middle, forming a pattern of a white flower of destiny.

The powder was incredibly fine, with a subtle shimmering light. Looking at it, one could almost picture the fleetingly beautiful fish tail that one had glimpsed at sea that day.

It seems this is powder made from pearls formed from the tears of a mermaid.

Finally, in the center of what should have been the flower's stamen were the wisp of spiritual fire and a golden crystal; all the materials combined to form a powerful energy field.

Phil Gray could sense the immense power contained within it.

"You're here. Everything's set up." Caroline clapped her hands and gestured to the fake Fils sitting cross-legged to the side. "Alright, let's begin!"

“Well, this ceremony may take a day to complete because I need to communicate with the gods, so no one else can be present. If it’s convenient for you, you can leave your lunch and dinner at my door,” Fake Phil said gently. His expression was no longer as arrogant as yesterday; instead, it carried a hint of a smile.

"What? We can't be there?" Caroline immediately wanted to quit. If they weren't there, how could they guarantee that this guy actually performed the ritual and wouldn't run away with the materials?

Fake Phil shook his head. "You can be present when the ceremony begins, but you must leave when you hear the sound of flowing water, otherwise the ceremony may fail."

Caroline was caught in a dilemma, and a look of hesitation appeared on her face, until she heard the fake Phil continue, "You can wait at the door, and I can tell you the result immediately after the ceremony is completed."

“Okay.” Caroline nodded.

Having just witnessed Caroline's fate, Phil Gray is no longer as wary of the imposter as before. Perhaps he really does have a way to change what will happen to Caroline in the future.

Although he didn't know what would happen then, the fact that his Eye of Destiny could only see darkness showed how powerful his opponent was.

They all agreed and were just waiting for the fake Phil's next move.

Fake Phil placed a Flower of Destiny in his palm, clasped his hands together, and knelt devoutly before the various materials.

"God of Destiny"

Even if you remain silent

Your power is also concentrated in millions of lives.

You weave the needle in the tapestry of fate.

Shaping joy and sorrow

You are the creator of the unknown and variables.

The master who controls destiny

We thank you for the pain you have given us.

Just as we thank you for the happiness you have given us.

We offer you the most beautiful things to decorate your temple.

Pure things ignite your light

The most yang substance warms your Holy Communion

The darkest things shield you from the sun

May you guide your loved ones…

The murmured voice, with its unique rhythm, echoed in Phil Gray's ears.

Accompanied by the sound of flowing river water, an oppressive divine power suddenly filled the entire room.

It's time to go out.
