A flurry of white sword light hurtled towards them. Phil Gray ducked to dodge and took a step forward, beginning to conjure the Blade of Destiny in his hand. However, the figure inside the house was so fast that he couldn't pinpoint its location.
"Watch out!" Eli shouted. Phil Gray instinctively turned to the side, dodging the incoming sword, but a piece of cloth was still cut off his sleeve.
Only then did he get a clear look at the person who had made the move. This time, his face was revealed; he looked to be around thirty years old, with somewhat grayish eyes that resembled those of a hawk.
The attack was incredibly fast! Phil Gray and Eli were scrambling to dodge; this guy was surprisingly agile in their small room!
He didn't even have time to take out the Blazing Sun Sword and the Daydream Gloves from the space stone; he could only throw out the Blade of Destiny, but it couldn't hit the white-clad man at all.
"Burning!"
The flames ignited, but were still a step behind, only setting the curtains behind them ablaze, without touching the white figure in the slightest.
Phil Gray was acutely aware of his shortcomings. Although he possessed numerous skills and divine power far exceeding that of ordinary chosen ones, he had not undergone professional training and had very little practical experience. Once he encountered someone with such skill, he could only find himself in such a passive situation!
He secretly resolved that he would ask Ernest to teach him some fighting techniques when he had the time.
Eli was the same; more like a laboratory researcher or healer than a fighter. He could only temporarily slow down the attack by having vines grow from the white shadow's legs, allowing them to barely dodge the continuous sword light.
Phil Gray felt he couldn't just sit and wait to die, so he stopped dodging and quickly retreated to the door, giving Eli a look. Eli understood and also retreated out the door.
"The Wall of Destiny!"
Phil Gray stopped and used this defensive skill. Although he was accidentally cut on his arms and legs by several sword flashes, a white wall quickly rose at the doorway, blocking the white shadow's path of attack.
"hiss--"
Despite the pain, he continued to channel his divine power into the white wall, making it even more solid.
Eli caught his breath and swiftly used his life force to heal Phil Gray's wounds. "Who is this guy inside? He attacked us without saying a word!"
Although the Wall of Fate is white, it is also somewhat transparent, allowing one to see the view on the other side.
The person in the room stopped and stood directly in front of them, his eyes sharp, holding a long sword that reflected a cold white light.
"Who exactly are you? Why have you been following us these past few days?" Phil Gray asked. Judging from the speed of his movement and attack, he was now certain that this was the person who had been tracking them all along. From the brush past them last night to the white figure he had glimpsed from time to time since, it was all this guy!
The man in white robes did not speak, but instead raised his longsword and channeled divine power into it. The longsword seemed to grow several times larger in an instant, and then he slashed at the Wall of Destiny!
"Well!"
Several cracks had appeared in the sturdy wall!
Phil Gray frowned as he watched the man swing his longsword and hack away. He could only continue to use his divine power to maintain the high wall. Although his divine power was immense, it was not limitless, and the cracks in the wall were increasing.
what to do?
He could actually use the Scales of Fate to replace his longsword, but after using it, he would have very little divine power left. What if that person had other means of attack?
Just then, the curtains that had just been lit fell to the ground, and the spreading flames set the bed ablaze. The thick smoke made the man in white cough, and his attacks became even more ferocious!
The wall of fate collapsed with a crash in the final sword light. At that moment, Phil Gray threw a candy given to him by Caroline into his mouth, chewed it up, and shouted, "Fate swap--"
His divine power was almost completely drained, but the effect was still significant. The sword in the white-robed man's hand underwent a strange change and shattered, scattering on the ground.
The man in white stopped in shock, staring helplessly as the weapon he had carried for years mysteriously shattered into pieces.
Phil Gray smirked as the candy in his mouth returned to normal. After spitting it out, he used his remaining divine power to condense a Fate Blade and hurled it at the stunned man in white.
Although the man in white was somewhat distracted after being hit, his body's instincts allowed him to easily dodge the flying blades, but his legs were bound by Eli's vines.
He could just now use his longsword to cut through the vines, but now he can only rely on his divine power to drive away the plants growing from his body.
"Burning!"
He used his last bit of divine power to summon the flames of the sun, and the flames finally enveloped the man in white.
The burning sensation made the man in white realize something was wrong. He turned and ran towards the window. The stinging pain in his legs and the flames on his body did not seem to affect his agility.
"We need to catch him quickly!"
Phil Gray and Eli hurried after him, but they were too late. With a splash, the man in white jumped into the vast sea, and the ship, powered by the high-purity blue crystal, quickly moved away from its original position.
"Why does everyone like jumping into the sea?" Eli leaned over the window and used his life force to extinguish the flames that were spreading further and further.
He turned around and saw Phil Gray's somewhat pale face.
Are you alright?
"It's nothing, I just ran out of divine power and need to rest." Phil Gray forced a smile. He looked at his torn sleeve and sighed. "We may rely too much on skills. Sometimes, combat skills are also very important. I could sense that the person just now was only a Favored One of the Observer level, the same level as us, yet he made us look so pathetic."
Eli comforted him, "He must have received rigorous training from a young age, and his god may be related to war or something similar, so it's normal for him to be strong in combat. You don't need to blame yourself."
Phil Gray shook his head, still somewhat frustrated. It was rather embarrassing that even as one of the Three Chosen Ones, he had to exhaust all his divine power to force his opponent to jump into the sea.
He completely forgot that he had only been a chosen one of the gods for a few months, and before that he was just an ordinary person with a materialistic worldview.
"I wonder what his identity is?" He looked at the room's furnishings; although most of it had turned to ashes, some things had remained.
“Nothing found. Oh, right, something seems a bit strange. We made such a commotion fighting with him, how come no other passengers or crew noticed? Is Bernie that careless?” Eli lifted the bed board, but there was nothing hidden underneath.
"yes!"
Phil Gray also sensed something was wrong. Before he could turn around to check the door, he heard a "bang" and the door suddenly slammed shut by itself!
